Drive Report: There were a couple of missed time calculations for reaching the meeting point. I was early by 45 min and @Rajiv Sam that he arrived about time thanks to @Joji varghese. @Andrei S arrived on time but unfortunately his air conditioner was not working so he had to leave. After the briefing we started our drive at about 6:28 am. The temperature was about 27-28 degrees Celsius but due to humidity which was at 93% it felt like 35 degrees, and it was super sweaty. I have a small gripe. I could see rest of the convoy with their AC on and closed widow glass up but due to poor visibility as it was not only foggy but also slightly overcast which was making it difficult for me to view and differentiate the sand and sky, I had to keep the window down. I was here a couple of times in this area. Once with my wife in a newbie drive last year and again further south with @JeromeFJ on an intermediate drive. But it was the first time I had driven in this area. We spent a lot of time in the first 10 km section at the start because it was so fun. We drove this 10km stretch which is about 1/3rd of the total planned track as crow flies for about 2 hours and then rushed towards the exit in last one hour and ended the drive at 9:35 which included 20 min break for a pop out as well. I found it interesting that the dunes would push me into the narrow technical area repeatedly and I had to keep getting out only to find myself back in the narrow technical area. For me it was an enjoyable drive with the entire convoy driving seamlessly and keeping up with the flow. It was in my opinion an elegant drive where we kept pace and drove as a unit. Thank you very much @Mehmet Volga for your presence and being the 2nd lead. it gave me a lot of confidence to drive the way I did today. Also big thanks to @Rajiv Sam, @Joji varghese and @Pacific for playing the crucial role of supporting the drive. @FERNANDO SYRIO, @Bashar Beasha and @Rk ram you guys were excellent and had a flawless drive. I am very impressed with your driving today. The FJ gang of @Hugo and @Mohit Gurnani did well as usual. All very experienced Jeep gang with @Naveen Raj, @Bjoern and 392 @Gok Krish were excellent as usual at the back. I will be looking forward to your comments on today's drive. Till we loop again in the dunes, have a great week ahead.8 points

@Dare_to_Dream One thing couple of members including me have noticed is: Do Not Trust Garage Instagram Accounts π cc @Wade Pat2 @Chris Wing . Use the 3 methods below: 1. Use Google Maps, type Musaffah so it centers from there. Then search nearby for "Car Modification", it should bring some decent results. 2. One-by-one, read the reviews (you can even translate the Arabic reviews sometimes they give more valuable insights). 3. Once you have narrowed it down to Top 5, find their Instagram accounts and check their Project Photos. Those that are closer to what you want to build with your concept car will make it easy during building (i.e. you can tell them "I want modification just like the one you did here on Insta.."). Yes I know I've said not to trust their Insta accounts, so eventually you have to use your "Spider-Sense" to gauge whether a workshop is full of marketing people instead of mechanics, welders, denters, electricians π3 points

Totally agree with @Zed, just adding my two cents. Even when they send you pics, make sure those pics are from their own garage (background, color, etc) and not google pics. The guy who did my bash plate, fooled me with random pics showing that he knows my car dimensions and he can make me a perfect bash plate instantly. Reality took 6 hours on the first visit and then repeated 2 more visits to fix the mistake and ruin the whole look and wasted my time and money.2 points

Does anyone know of any car workshop in Abu Dhabi that can provide car styling, body and frame modification ? Basically, I'm thinking of taking a 4x4 donor vehicle chassis and modifying it into my project concept vehicle Any help would be greatly appreciated !1 point

@Sreenath G that's a powerful combo: the XTerra uses the same VQ40 engine as Y62 V6 + the 6-speed manual has 1st Gear Ratio of 4.37, higher than Land Cruiser and Rubicon's 4.1 first gear, so means on 4H 1st Gear you already have lots of torque to move the wheels (good for climbing tall dunes). Looking forward to see this beast on the sand when we're in the same convoy π Reference for X-Terra Technical Specs1 point

Occam's Razor Principle: sometimes the simplest could be the answer π I'm putting the "How to test your Horn Device is working using Normal Car Battery" link below (skip to minute 1:39) so others next time can do this test first before checking the yellow clock spring in steering wheel π1 point

Source Phases of energy production The 13MW 1st phase uses photovoltaic solar (PV) panels and became operational in October 2013. The 200MW 2nd Phase uses photovoltaic solar (PV) panels and became operational in March 2017. The 800MW 3rd phase uses photovoltaic solar (PV) panels and became fully operational in November 2020. The 950MW 4th phase combines 700MW from Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and 250MW using photovoltaic solar (PV) panels. A total of 417MW of the 4th phase using PV and CSP is already operational The 900MW 5th phase uses photovoltaic solar panels, A total of 600MW of the 4th 5th phase is already operational The 1800MW 6th phase uses photovoltaic solar panels (PV ) . It will become operational in stages. Source PS Edit: seems there is a typo at source regarding the 5th phase energy production.1 point

Hi @Dare_to_Dream we do not promote nor mention workshops here on the forum as we want to make sure the content remains unbiased for our members. You are of course free to come up with technical questions as we have a large user base here. Having said that, there are plenty of car workshops in Abu Dhabi to tailor to modifying your vehicle, but be ready for lots of issues to get your car through the RTA inspection if you are planning heavy modifications (unless you will drive it around on a trailer ) I recommend Google search "4x4 modification" or "4x4 tuning" and go through the list of potential shops. Visit them one by one and look at the projects they've done and try to align with them on budget, plans, execution, designs, etc... You will probably see that after visiting 10-15 shops that only 1-2 will be shortlisted. Be very detailed about your expectations and budget. Because the majority of these shops will make you drain your wallet faster than anything ! Good luck !1 point
