I have the craft of photography all dialed in - learning the art is what is more important and difficult job. I am currently compensating it with quantity and a bit of post-production. Of course, there is a lot that can be done that I am not doing. My objective is to feed into the Carnity Instagram page mostly. It's always a learning process. Recently I observed that when I take pictures sitting inside the car and through the front window - the phots seem to focus nicely while shooting but when I pixel peep on my monitor I see that they are awfully out of focus. Take away from it is that - Do not put another medium, even though it is transparent, between your lens and the subject. I know a thing or two about the cameras as well as setting up the camera, maybe @DP1011 as well as many with their DSLRs would want to join a drive where we stop and talk about the essentials of photography as suggested in the near future.

You have managed, together with your convoy, to completely take in "Big Red" from all possible directions and design a thrilling drive experience! Member in the spotlight While most of us are staying inside during this scorching summer, some people decide to crawl underneath the car and work on them. This hands-on approach has won @Stumpy Paj our "Car Guru Of The Quarter" award !! From dropping sub-frames, to replacing radiators, and spare wheel cover delete work, with the help of @Bravoechohe has turned his Pajero into a real Offroad Beast ! Well done Nathan ! Stucks of the Quarter Usually quite mindful of the terrain and its surroundings, @Fredericmanaged to park his Patrol in front of a big bush, and on top of that was seen smiling and waving, while @Naveen Rajwas actually solving the problem for him . Another noteworthy stuck was @Gauravon the Razeen exploration. Thanks to the great teamwork of @Zed@Rajiv Sam@DP1011and @Stumpy Paj they were able to clear the sand enough to get the car out of this scary angle. @Looper @Hisham Masaad Thank you very much for your support. I think during the last Mahafiz drive there was no popout, It was the first time with new tyre and had problems with climbs. Hope all goes well this time. Looking forward to joining this drive.

@Abhilash Kottakkal definitely sign up for the drive. Any and all pop-outs will be fixed without qualms. I am going to run a poll to see how many volunteers we have for the job.

Hi. I am glad to have joined the club. Please share your vehicle details - Make, Model, Color, and Year. I have a Nissan Xterra 2014. No mods. Do you have any prior off-road experience? If yes, pls share details. Minor experience a couple of years ago. Confirm your vehicle has front and rear tow hooks/eyelets. I am not sure if Xterra 2014 stock comes with any of that or not. I will check it. Advise if you don’t have a programable radio and safety flag. I didn't get a radio nor a safety flag yet. I will try to secure them in the next few days. I have a compressor and deflator. I confirm that i watched the video.

@Abhilash Kottakkal, it is going to be an exploratory drive. I have not been here in ages now, the last drive I did here was in May 2022 in a Newbei drive. Hence I cannot say how the terrain will be. There are a couple of sections where I have driven in the past but there will be a patch of track where I have never been to and will be exploring. As far as I know, it will be technical, bushy with a lot of vegetation - at least at the start. In the second part it will be similar to Badayer, but more compact. and 3rd Part no idea; I will see what it looks like with rest of the convoy.

@Looper I hope this drive is not so Technical with sharp turns and soft sand...i am tired of popouts...that's why I joined the newbie and put this drive as second in the wait list...I know you as the technical master and bit feel bad I give all trouble with my popout....

Very good topic @Looper ! I agree that desert-driving photography is a bit tricky. I use full frame Canon EF with 24-105mm L series which is a good overall range but quite heavy to carry along. The fact that it has optical stabilization is a must in my opinion if you start to zoom in completely, and on a 300mm that would be definitely even more the case. (we are using it handheld and not on tripod). The Sigma 70-300mm with IS is a better and more cost-effective option and also less bulky. Aperture is indeed lesser of an issue as there is plenty of light available. Even too much at times. I've seen plenty of your photos on the forum, and how you nail them every time is impressive as my camera is quite old and is not that great for the quick shots (5D mk2). It takes time to get focus right and there's never enough time when cars are zooming past
