Lately I have also started to think about bushes in the desert not as a bug but as a feature. It gives us an opportunity to drive like rock crawling or should I say bush crawling. Only issue is that if we were to get stuck on them it might become a fire hazard. Hopefully we won't have to do it because the area where we are going to drive tomorrow is a very small strip of dunes that which has very less greenery. But they sometimes are very soft. That is what I felt when I drove there for the first time. The meeting time is 6:45; please be ready to raid the dunes by 7:00. It won't be a very long drive, perhaps 2 hours with a couple of breaks for half hour so we should be out by 9:30, depending on the refusals. @Bjoern is the "Second" Lead at #6. @J-P L will be Center Forward with @Cha at the sweep. We will converse on Ch4. The convoy, partially reversed, because why not. I am not biased but jeeps got stacked up neatly at the front because of pure statistics.

Good evening everyone! You can find the planned track attached (GPX). There is a farm and some trees in the area, so we might be able to roam around a bit to find a sweet spot. I think the farm is abandoned and could turn out to be a great subject. I just hope Al Razeen prison won't have their floodlights on that evening 🫣 so light pollution would be not an issue. Please ensure your car is ready for the outdoors, remove unnecessary items from the passengers area and the trunk. Check your flag, charge your radio, fill the tank this evening, or on the way to the meeting point tomorrow morning. I will indicate the convoy order and the radio frequency at the end of the afternoon.

Join us for a stargazing session in Al Razeen Abu Dhabi! What to expect on June 13: Best shooting window: roughly 10:00 PM – 3:30 AM Milky Way core direction: southeast to south Best composition time: around midnight to 2 AM when the core rises higher Moonlight should be minimal and likely only affect the horizon before dawn. Bring your Digital Camera, and we will help you practice getting the best results out of it. The plan is to have a meetup with max. 10 members to practice and enjoy the art of Night photography and learn from each other. Bring whatever Digital camera you have and have a look at the advisable settings in your camera's manual or ask in the forum. After the event you can publish your photos in our gallery! Meetup Location: Al Razeen, Abu Dhabi https://maps.app.goo.gl/AqfvMcdzgXsUsnrZ8 Meetup Time: 9PM at the meeting point from where we will deflate. End Time: Approx 2AM we will head back to the exit. What to bring: Red headlamp and/or flashlight, camping chair, Camera or Smartphone, tripod, film/memory cards, extra battery, Recommended Lens(es). A tripod is recommended for night photography. Please do not bring big LED flood lights. We want to make sure our eyes can adjust to the dark. This is not an Off-Road Drive, but we will have to deflate at the entry point and head into the desert for 7-8 km so we have minimal light pollution. Oof that was soooo long ago! We need to do this more often 😂. I don't use that crop lens anymore - though I still have it if anyone needs to borrow it 🤔 it's a great Tokina 11-14mm (for Canon). Let me know if I should toss it in the bag.

For Fb+ level would be difficult to stretch the convoy beyond 12 or 13 cars especially in the night in a terrain like Sweihan . from my side I will keep the drive open as much as time permits till tomorrow 2 pm . If a drop out happens then the system will pull from the wait list in priority to first drive then second drive .

Dear Desertnauts. Short briefing for tomorrow's weekend opening drive. The meeting and deflation point will be posted in 10 minutes. Kindly reach it in time for a timely departure. The drive should be relatively quick, starting with a more complex technical area (mostly due to abundant vegetation), and will proceed with increasingly clean yet tight dunes, until we'll reach the Ghost Roads, around which there are some nice and clean dunes to look around.
