Dear Desertnauts a very short briefing for tomorrow's drive. The goal is to go back and forth from Badayer to 2nd December Cafateria, with the twofold purpose of 1) exploring the lesser driven northern and southern segments of this area, and 2) to spend some time in the taller dunes visible on both sides of @2December usual entry point. We'll start at Badayer, on the side of Big Red, where we'll return to enjoy the sunset at the end of the drive. The convoy order at the moment is the following: @Thomas54675 in Second Lead @Jerome at #3 @Noufal at #4 @Hartzel at #5 @Carl Stanley at #6 and @J-P L in Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for the start of the weekend.

Hello @Ale Vallecchi, I am still not sure if I can make it tomorrow. I have a job in Margham which is nearby only. I am hoping that there would be no hiccups and finish it on the first half and join the drive in the afternoon. In case i am unable to make it, i will message here by lunch. Thanks.

  9. Nice write up @Infaz. One other note @Imran Asghar how have you determined that you need a kill switch for ABS? A lot of the trucks these days have specific modes for offroading (specifically sand/mud) that will 'almost' disable all traction controls.. except in instances where a lot of one wheel slipping is detected. In those cases the ABS can often apply brakes to one wheel to allow the other to get traction. (Think fake front diff lock) Assuming you dont have a dedicated factory front locker? Worth investigating what drives modes you have, and what changes they effect on the overall system before trying to trick the computer into disabling ABS etc through shorts. FWIW, many people install kill switch with various levels of success in the ford ranger, whereas i have left it be. I find that engaging certain offroad modes,.. plus long press on traction off.. gives me more than enough offroad performance without having to go down paths of messing with the wiring to put car into disabled modes..

  11. Learning to turn down early is one of the most important skills to learn, once this in ingrained then the higher-level skills can be built from this base.

💗 Driving Together for a Cause That Matters – Carnity Pink Rock Drive 🎗️ Some drives are about the journey, and some are about the purpose behind it. Our Carnity Breast Cancer Awareness Drive at Pink Rock, Sharjah, on 18th October was one of those special mornings that reminded us what our community truly stands for. 💕 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and made this initiative so beautiful and meaningful. It was wonderful to see the Carnity family come together, not just for our shared love of driving, but to support a cause that touches so many lives. A special shout-out to Vanessa, our lead , for leading the drive, and to Ishak and Mike for their support, guidance, and efforts in making the morning such a smooth and memorable experience. thank you and a special thanks to @Radhika for a quick and much needed yoga session. Gaurav's vision in building this community has brought so many people together, and mornings like these remind us how much more Carnity is than just a motoring community. We missed having you with us, and we look forward to the day we can all share these special moments together again. At Carnity, we believe our community is about more than cars and drives. It is about friendship, compassion, and coming together to make a difference. This drive was a beautiful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite for something bigger than ourselves. Breast cancer awareness is a message that deserves to be shared every day. Let’s continue to encourage early detection, support those fighting the battle, and stand beside survivors and families whose lives have been touched by it. 🎀 Thank you for being part of the Carnity family. You made this morning truly special. Here’s to more drives with purpose, stronger friendships, and a community that continues to make a difference. 💗🏁 Keep driving. Keep caring. Keep the Carnity spirit alive!

Thank you @Emanuel for the lovely afternoon drive and for agreeing to upgrade to FB+. We sure had a lot of bumpiness for the first half but that was followed by some great play areas which was loads of fun. I sure learned a lot about my vehicle on the technical bits (the pesky bushes), and thank you for helping me practice climbing steps, even if it took a few tries at times. Navigating my own lines through these sections with my long wheelbase is surely something I will practice more. It is the first time I had to use my kinetic rope on my own vehicle and looking back at the video I took away the importance of synchronising the 'pull' with rotating of wheels, the first try you pulled and I was too late but the second one was spot on. We saw some amazing cloud formations and with the sunset lighting them up made for spectacular views.

POST DRIVE REPORT Thank you all for being ready for the briefing promptly at 2:00 pm. As everyone was FB+ or above, and with agreement from both drivers and passengers, we upgraded the drive to FB+ and were into the desert shortly after the briefing. The first patch in Murquab proved a little challenging for the long-wheelbase Wildtrack, even with the track being adjusted with the vehicle in mind. With a little more practice, particularly in choosing the best lines for the longer wheelbase, I’m sure this will quickly become a non-issue. Remember that good spacing is important, as it gives you the best chance of seeing and following the line taken by the car ahead. Our second patch in Murquab was much more playful, with some nice hill climbs, ridges, sidies and loops. After exploring the area, we crossed the sabkha and made our way to the sand track towards Qudra, where we stopped for a short break and some social time. From there, the sand track took us to our next entry point in Qudra, where we worked through another technical section before reaching the larger dunes we had been aiming for. Once through the transition, we arrived at our first play area and explored it quite thoroughly before enjoying a more leisurely run towards the second play area. That section was good fun as well, although we gradually started scaling things back as we worked our way towards the exit. During the second half of the drive, we had a few refusals and a couple of stucks. The self-recoveries were handled very well, and the few stucks were cleared quickly with good teamwork from the convoy. Well done. We also had a few early exits from ridges and sidies, as well as a couple of occasions where cars exited to the opposite side. In each case, the convoy reacted correctly by steering down and following. These are exactly the safety actions we talk about during the briefing. They keep the convoy predictable and, most importantly, help prevent accidents. Overall, you all drove really well through a route that had a good mix of faster sections, technical patches and opportunities to play. A big thank you to @W a q a rfor Sweep and @Hartzel for Second Lead, and to everyone for the great teamwork throughout the afternoon. The track we made yesterday is below. Have a great weekend, everyone, and see you in the sand next time! 🏜️🐪
