  1. I have owned the following three 4x4's . Jeep Wrangler 2013( Very capable offroad, but week engine, couldn't climb to the top of extremely tall dunes, whereas a Land Crusier, or previous version of Nissan Patrol could do it easily.) Nissan Pathfinder 2008, (Good Power, but capability is average, would hit the bottom due to low ground clearance, and 4x4 system is not that good.) Ford Expedition 1998, ( Week engine, Good ground clearance in pre-2001 models, extremely capable 4x4 transmission and good low end torque, but cannot make up to heavy dunes due to engine power and huge size.) I have heard good reviews about FJ, infact all Toyota 4x4's and Xterra. Off-roading is all about skills , you can manage with an average 4x4's, if you know the basics right. I have seen locals doing great with little Suzuki Jimmnys and RAV 4s. Your budget for 50K can fetch you pre 2009 models only, so it comes down to personal choice. If you know how to drive a manual may be you will get more options. But remember in such old vehicles chassis and transmission may have already taken lot of beating, better search for good condition one.

  2. Mark I did not forgot above models, as most of them not capabel at all and other are too expensive to enter sand dune in dubai and break them and thtis why peple here dont take those cars offroad.

  3. Hi Guys, I do drive an old Pajero (actually very old), please find below service schedule that I saved from US spec site long back, It might not be the most accurate for GCC but it gives an indication of items involved per each service schedule, hope it helps. 7,500 Miles (12,000 km) or at 6 months Rotate tires. 4. Engine symbol means "Check Engine" warning light? This is the most annoying and scary at the same time. This warning light means something wrong that engine is not happy. It could be inside the engine issue (not very likely) or outside the engine issue (very likely). To start the diagnose by yourself check below in same priority level: Check the fuel cap and open once fully and close it properly. Check the battery is connected properly and your headlights and radio is working fine (If not then battery is dead). Check the fuel is enough and fuel supply is fine, when you half turn the iginition key you should hear the little wheezing noise and end it with click after 20 secs in the engine bay, means fuel pump is fine and sending sufficient fuel to engine. Check the air filter box, if in doubt open fully and clean the filter and close it back properly. If still not starting disconnect battery and reconnect it and try to start. Beyond above do it yourself, I wouldn't advise more action if you are not half techy. Next doubt is to check the engine component like spark plug ignition, Air flow meter, compression test, timing belt etc. How much mileage you have on your car and is it been regularly serviced...?
