  1. DRIVE PLAN

PLEASE READ IT FULLY, BEFORE RSVP.

This will be an exploration drive through Razeen desert with an aim to find, mark and connect good, bad and wow areas for future drives.

Being an exploration drive, it can be 6K RPM all the time, it can be technical, it can be scenic, it can be fast or dead slow - I don't know. So be ready for anything, but be sure it's going to be very exciting as no one knows the start and end point.

The bottom line, this is not going to be a regular off-road drive, so please join the drive with an open mind and flexible approach.

  2. Just a clue: look for a business that runs with passion and not just numbers, as such a unique project needs more love and creativity than regular thinking folks.

I would start by searching the social media feed of each shortlisted garage if they have done something similar project in the past. Then verifying the workmanship available at hand now is the same as when they have done that job.

  3. Totally agree with @Zed, just adding my two cents.

Even when they send you pics, make sure those pics are from their own garage (background, color, etc) and not google pics.

The guy who did my bash plate, fooled me with random pics showing that he knows my car dimensions and he can make me a perfect bash plate instantly. Reality took 6 hours on the first visit and then repeated 2 more visits to fix the mistake and ruin the whole look and wasted my time and money.

@Hisham Masaad if I take a leave on that day and join the drive will it be okay for you??? You know i had a difficult time with you with bfg. Then with gaurav newbie drive with 10psi it was okay. Then  again gautam feewbie drive I had three popouts...so I am wondering...if you let me I will take a leave and join this drive amd see I get shoutings or can find some peace with current bfg tyres...sorry for the late message just came back from business trip...

Like I said, BFG won't flex much at 12 PSI, and I haven't seen anyone having 3 popout on BFG in one drive. BFG rarely pops out due to the strong (8-10 ply) sidewall. You can try with 12 PSI again and then mid-drive lower to 11 PSI to test, but make sure you take the reading with two different gauges to be accurate.

If 11 PSI goes fine, drive for 2-3 drives to settle with 11 PSI based on your car weight and driving style. After 3 drives, try again 10 PSI to test.

I had BFG on my SWB Patrol weighing 2 tons and always drove them at 10 PSI, and even at 8-9 PSI occasionally.

  11. I think it should have a thin metal clip on the rubber hose, which may be causing a small leak and underneath plastic showing the coolant sediments.

To be 100% sure, remove that hose when the car is cool and give it a clean with a brush under that pipe to investigate if the top tank is leaking (then go with M-Seal) or rubber hose needs metal clip.

    i drive a fortuner V6 2018 model white.

could you please confirm i can come over and let me know in case of any additional stuff to carry

    Regards

    Amal Sunil

Hi @Amal Sunil welcome to carnity, you only need required off-road gears and no modification to the car.

Just make sure that your car has a minimum of 8 inches of ground clearance along with front and rear tow hooks/points or eyelet for recovery.

  15. Just to clarify another point on Japanese 4X4 (at least) front airbag won't pop with the nose dive unless the impact reach the crush zone. I had a nasty nose dive at a 50-60 degree angle on LC100 but the airbag didn't pop. After that got the airbag sensor checked and everything was fine, but the impact didn't reach the crush zone and hence airbag sensor didn't fire the signal.

The bottom-line is that front airbags don't deploy with minor front impact unless there is an accident and hence front airbag need is even more imp for off-road
