  1. In stock form, I would get around 530km per tank combined city/highway driving in abu dhabi.

Now, with A/T tyres geolander g016 265/65R17, and large roof rack with jerry cans up top, i get 480-490km per tank when using it for combined city/highway driving in abu dhabi.

    Notes:

    • do not exceed 120 kph when highway driving.
    • drive until red light comes on, then add fuel.

obvs when driving offroad that number drops dramatically.

Long drives on highway (road tripping) do not see me get any extra mileage. stay between 480-490km per tank.

    looks like a cool app

Thanks, @Ale Vallecchi. I've read all the linked articles, including the one you mentioned. Everything is ready, and all equipment is available already, but cannot find a solution to those two frequencies. Hopefully, they will not be needed on our first drive. See you soon!

Hi @Nicolò please try setting the STEP on your baofeng to 25.

Then you should be able to set the channel for 6 and 10 no problems.

(here is channel 6 & 10 on my baofeng, and can transmit and receive to crony/motorola on same channels no problem)

On the highest squelch level, your radio keeps picking up even the smallest of noises?
Do you keep getting distracted by static noise during your drive?
Then you need to adjust the internal squelch levels.

This tutorial is valid for Baofeng models UV5R, UV82, F8HP, and 82HP. It is not valid for models UVB5/B6 or BF888S.
    You will need to:
    - purchase the Baofeng USB programming cable
    - download CHIRP

The fix needs a bit of programming (that's why the USB cable), but it's easy enough and all the steps are explained in detail in this articleAdjusting the internal Squelch Levels - UV5R / UV82 / F8HP / 82HP series

TL;DR The factory's internal squelch level settings have long been known to have little or no impact on the actual squelch range. The smallest noise burst would easily open the squelch regardless of setting 0 through 9. Most standard Baofeng factory squelch levels range from a low of 14-22 to a high of 40-48, both of which are low, and offer very little variation of squelch levels.

    Nice tutorial.
I'm using UV5R with firmware BFB298 and haven't come across any problems getting excess static on the radio. Maybe the later firmware versions cleaned up the settings/squelch algo. But will bookmark this incase i run into the problem in the future. Cheers.,

  4. Thanks for leading the drive today @DP1011. 🙏🙏

Was a great place to have my first Dubai drive for the year to ease back into the dunes.

My kids were excited spotting gazelles and camel today, too many camels to count! 🐪🐪🐪

Great drive by everyone. We started heading south / South West past the camel farms and through some technical dunes in Lisali where we first spotted the group of 3 gazelles.

As we headed more to the east we encountered some vegetation, turned south and had a couple of minor refusals in some sandy patches.

Into murquab large group of gazelle was spotted and we enjoyed some nice clean dunes to ride on on the way to the exit.

Total of almost 40km of varied terrain in extremely pleasant weather. Can't wait to do it again! 👏👏

I had a special few moments at the inflation point trying to work out what was wrong with my air compressor... Fuses fine, breakers fine... It was a case of serious operator error where I had not switched it on!  😅😅😅

@essam ibrahim I'm sorry I broke the handle on your shovel! I use one of these ones and it has worked well over the last year with a good grip on it

  5. Excellent fun driving with you all today!

Thanks for leading us in and out @Asif Hussain

I have us at 100km flat. We started heading south west with some nice big drops and open sabkha areas to warm up the cars. First break at the 20km mark. From here we kept heading towards the date farm Oasis where we stopped for brunch

Kept heading out towards the yellow truck and had some stoppage time where we had a couple of stucks in the soft POCKET OF DEATH.☠️

After finding the yellow truck and posing for @Marek_was003 photos we headed due east past the water plant and back to civilisation.

Again, excellent driving everyone. Some soft patches and we never needed to get the ropes out!

See you all next time. Looking forward to seeing all you pics in the gallery 🙏🌞

  6. I have a damaged plate that I want to replace.

However with the various apps AD Police, Sharjah Police, RTA, MOI, TAMM etc none of these apps lets me apply for a replacement plate.

I have the added bonus of begin based in abu dhabi with a sharjah registration on my car.

Do i have to visit police station? or something else? cant really find any info on how to go about this.

    tips appreciated

  7. Taking inspiration from @Stumpy Paj I decided to go ahead with installing onboard air via arb single compressor.

I decided to mount inside the space where the spare wheel goes, and run the air outlet to the side where I have a hard mount for the insta360 camera.

Very simple job once you have drilled the mounting holes in the wheel mount. Terminated to ground on the factory point inside the rear space, and extended hot power to battery with inline switch at battery. Extended the pressure sensor and isolation switch up into the auxbeam gangpanel controller recommended by @Frederic.

    Super happy with the result.
