  1. Derik, if transportation is the only thing you look at daily drive then you are better off with the Taxi's. Not only for the slight cost saving, but big time for hassle saving. However, if you live on taxi's only then you should have factored the weekend as in two off days sometimes we drive and cherish our cars more than 5 days of travel, km's and utilization for long road trips, family outings, mall hopping and what not.
  2. I had a brief indirect experience with Al Futtaim automall, that I was screening a car in Aweer and found it was totaled car and that dealer claimed that he purchased this car from Al Futtaim Automall and shown me the certificate of purchase. Assuming here, may be Al futtaim bought totaled car and sold to aweer guy after fixing it (less likely). Aweer guy bought totaled car from AFM and fixed it to sell (more likely). Either ways, I agree with danny advise that AFM sell clean cars, but still do the insurance check and see if car wasn't totaled before.
  3. Those extreme honking as you mentioned near the hotel is really bad and should be fined. I agree. For others, people here are inconsiderate to slow down the traffic flow for no reason and get honked. Guy driving damn confuse of taking the exit or not will slow down and call someone or check GPS at the the turning will def slow down whole ten cars behind him. Another example of dirt bags driving in fastest lane at 80 in front of cars that wish to go at 120, I literally HONKED at such ass holes as they have no respect and no lane driving discipline. If you want to drive at 80 go to right most lane and not left.
  4. You are better off listing your own classified ad for sale, as looking for agent will get you only half the cash as discussed here in many threads before. You can list these cars for sale in more natural (real people) classified website than the agents backyard website who only call to break the price w/o even seeing the car.
  5. Thanks guys, for such lovely replies and advices and yes I actually meant for traffic fines like overspeeding, lane, mobile fines etc.
  6. Hi Fellas, Is there any comprehensive place to find the full list of RTA fines, as all the bits and pieces are scattered on Internet and no one knows whats the old rate and new rates. There are files I found from 2006 when radar use to be 200 aed. lol. I wish if it still stays that cheap. Please help build one here and see if this thread get any traction. Parking fine: 200 AED Over speeding fine: Minimum - 600 AED + 100 AED (for every 10 more kms over speeding) Seat belt fine: 200 AED Blocking traffic: 200 AED
  7. Thanks Taqir, for really interesting find as I always wonder why we have sudden surge of calls for first 1-2 days as soon as we place used car advertisement in dubizzle and then interest dies completely, when you stick to your firm asking price. Now I know. Have you reported this to Dubizzle? Of course you don't have any proof, but just as a word of caution.......!
  8. No car parts are covered with insurance unless involved in accident. Period. Mitsubishi is cheaper than Toyota as its parts are expensive than Toyota. Mitsubishi is better than Suzuki, as you can get lot of service option and parts options in UAE as compare Suzuki. My vote also for 2.0 is better than 1.4 Liter for better handling, driving, acceleration and air conditioning. Geely, sounds too good to be true with 2.4L SUV around 50k, probably same league of Renualt Duster. If you are not too brand conscious (like me) then give it a try if its reviews are positive.
  9. To be honest 301 is a good value for money car for first 5 years until the time you have the warranty from the dealer. If you planning to buy new and sell before 5 years then it's a good compact family car with reasonable options under 50k aed budget. Mind you don't expect great or even half way great resale whenever you sell as Peugeot re-sale market in UAE is pretty bad, due to french brand made for cold weather and not ultra hot weather like Dubai. That being sad they are not bad but at the same time but they are not as good as Japanese folks. Power is also just adequate to move the car, so don't expect hard hit adrenaline rushing performance. Maintenance cost I have no idea as I have never own one but heard lot of stories to share my above input. Hope it helps.
  10. That's a one weird, fugly, uncomfortable, unsafe design. Honda should better spend that time and research in improvising civic and accord fuel economy.
  11. Well not every model get face-lift in any car model every year, it gets upgrade in overall options and refinement in luxury functions. Face-lift and new redesign happen generation which is 4-5 year design cycle, so what's the fuss with those complain box boyz who rant on wrong side of the game. Audi A4 is an Audi proven workhorse flagship, and you should buy it if you are considering with a close eyes and without any second thought.
  12. This seems to be a very big and bold step forward from Honda. Really like their work and hope it proves competent among the league.
  13. Just searched the business section here for fun and found one in AD for german cars: http://carnity.com/business_listing/car-services/brand-specific-workshop/german-excellence-r699/ , nice to see this listing place growing slowly.
  14. My bimmer is well serviced and carefully driven and whenever I start the car nowadays I hear a whining noise little after I start moving the car from engine that stays for a short while and get disappear after few seconds. Sound is whistling and whining mix together. It doesn't come after that during whole drive and comes only once after the car start moving. Though it doesn't bother me much, but better ask and see the issue in case if I can fix the bigger problem in advance. Thanks guys, have a great week ahead.
  15. I had a similar experience at Al Tayer showroom for Land Rover where arabs in arabic white dress get entertained on priority and rest of the boys wait until they finish the conversation. Sometime you can't help it and have to ignore this to get the required customer service.
  16. Upgrade to Toyota or Nissan, with bigger engine size and you will enjoy the ice cube throwing cooling. I had dinky engine Peugeot in past and I can relate to your feelings when everything else is perfect other than AC and you can't sell the car only for that one reason, but sadly that one reason make you cry and provoke you to sell it immediately.
  17. Few more things to consider which will let you make an educated decision. Listing advantages of each which will be considered disadvantage for other segment: CAR Easy to park.Easy to drive in small or narrow roads, basement parking curves, malls curves.Small room get cool faster when in peak summer.SUV Much safe & stable to drive especially on high speed lanes.Better road view and all around view.Better road respect from hooligans and bullying drivers (Im serious).
  18. Last bit is best to keep Range happy (fingers crossed). Also get the battery tested for volt check as many times fake beeps happen due to voltage fluctuation from dying battery. My friend Range showed "Gearbox Failure" when battery was dying, so damn hilarious and surprising.
  19. Prado has been chosen by so many people is for a reason and not only rat race. I think Prado is perfect balance of adequate luxury, performance accompanied with reasonable off-road capabilities. It's just that previous shape was well priced in range of 120's than the new shape that shot-up to 160's upward. If you can afford, go with Prado you will enjoy it daily.
  20. Hahaha guys, Saudi producing 10 million barrel / day VS 2.9 million barrel / day in UAE. Does above comparison justify the cost.....? I think fairly yes, what you think guys.....?
  21. I heard this logic as well before, and it's quite true as in heat fuel expands and cold it contracts and though fuel comes in volume and not in weight so little little expansion have direct impact on fuel delivery. Though it's true but I don't think impact is huge and so big that can shake the petrol bill noticeably.
  22. BMW 330, as it is a best combination of speed and comfort in awesome value for money. Never had any big issues and enjoying this car since many years.
  23. Looks like you already made up your mind then why asking dude.....lol.
  24. Damn fuel prices, my plan to upgrade to heavy engine this winter seems fading now
  25. Bulldog, American offroad and cree are some good brand that gives awesome product but with a good price tag. Cheap ones you can get in sharjah, naif and even in souq.com for couple of hundred, but not as bright and as long lasting the above ones.
