Dear desert explorers,

@Alexanderrr @_Herman_  @Frans M @Zsolt @H3 Joe @Deepak Eswar @Beide Worku

Thank you for joining this FB+ drive.

We were well on time for the briefing, where we recalled the importance of convoy and maneuvering rules, as I shared the story of Naheel rollover, and as always, one of the the golden rule: don't fight gravity.

We started the drive by playing on the first dune, then continued to the second dunes. We had the chances to climb and to do ridge riding downhill, I noticed some were still fighting gravity, which caused fishtailing. There were a few refusals were the cars could not maintain the position on the ridge, and as always, steering down was the better and safer option. We tried the same climb a couple of time so everyone could do it nicely. Overall everyone drove confidently, also for the first-time FB+ @_Herman_ and some FB+ @Zsolt well done guys.

We had one stuck when @Frans M experienced a refusal, so @H3 Joe decided to stop. Thanks to @H3 Joe for not overtaking, as that could have led to a bad situation, well done 🫡. The shoveling team recovered the Hummer in no time 👏, Great teamwork!.

To enjoy the third dune, we had to pass through a technical patch. Once we reached it, we took a short break and discussed the drive, sharing feedback about not fighting gravity and avoiding fishtailing. Then we continued playing on the third dune.

While exiting to head to the next one, we had an unexpected incident: @Deepak Eswar car rolled over. Thanks God 🙏 he is okay, no scratches, and the car ended up back on its wheel with very minimal damage. The sand was tricky, mixed soft on the top and still compacted underneath.

We got amazing video footage from @Beide Worku. It was his first time filming, and he decided to mount the camera on the front left instead of rear, and the accident happened right in front of him. We reviewed the video, and it was priceless learning for everyone 🙏. I may use the video without mention the name to remind everyone during my future @Carnity drive briefing 🙏.

I decided to end the drive and we slowly exited to the nearest point.

Thanks to our second lead @Alexanderrr, CF @Frans M and the no number plate left behind (he got one) @Beide Worku for your support and during recovery.

Hope to see you all 🫡, and especially @Deepak Eswar back on sand soon.

What an amazing drive to have joined, @Ishak

It was a thrilling ride, I felt the challenge and the excitement were a perfect balance.  Had to break off a few attempts by steering down, playing it safe.  I think it is @Carnity-signature that experienced drivers like @Ishak and @Frans M applaud you for it, such an important part of building up the confidence in your own (split-second) decisions.

The rollover incident @Ishak mentioned above was a shared humbling experience for all, confronting us with the risk involved.  An educative moment for all the group on many topics.  Amazed at how well the car (and, more importantly, the driver!) stepped away from the incident, helped by the fact that, as we saw from the footage, the speed was very much reduced at the actual tipping moment.

The sand was a bit moist and had lots of grip, so in the convoy on the way out after the incident I tried to make it in 2WD, which proved no problem at all (if you rely on a bit of momentum sometimes).

Memorable day!
