GPS NAVIGATION SYSTEM UPDATE

Hi Bimmers

I would like to ask you for BMW Gps Navigation System ..

There is many Types of Navigation Computers like MKI, MKII, MKIII and MKVI this is for model before 2005 I believe so...

My question is how to UPDATE the GPS maps ONLY not the software itself ??

I did many searches through the net but I found only how to update the software not the maps !!

Anyone can help or have an Idea ?

If i am not wrong, you have to update the software too before updating the maps (year wise) that's why you cannot load newer maps in older version of software. Its more of a compatibility issue then anything else.

Agree with you .. But did anyone here face the same issue ?

I mean to say do anyone have BMW 3 Series 2003 with updated GPS can help me and give advice ?

A software update is not always necessary if you get a new Map!

Everything depends on the current software release on your MKIV. The last software release on MKIV is "MKIV SW 4-1/00" (Firmware V.31 - release 03/2008). In Germany it's not allowed to do a software upgrade by yourself (warranty issue). So you have to do it at the BMW dealer. Some dealers do it for free if you get a new Map from them.
