This as a concept was whispered in to our ears by @waqaszohair around 2 to 3 months back and it remained on the back burner till we crossed 15000 members. What an occasion and what would be more fitting than to put this plan to action. Although @waqaszohair had a plan but it was a bit too tedious, so our very own @Gaurav bhai took the plan and tried to reduce the time spent on road and some quality time together to put together some videos and pictures to make the vent to be remembered for a long time to come. Drive was announced and as expected spots were taken up like hot cakes and we just loved the enthusiasm shared by all the members. We met on time in the morning and after a briefing and hand over of the goody bags we were on our way. Our first stop was in Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque, and the excitement grew as within no time we had touched the first point and after a quick photo session it was time for us to leave. It was also time for us to bid @Asif bhai farewell as he had specially come all the way from Abu Dhabi to Dubai just to join us and had a flight to catch, can't wait for his return. Heading to Al Ain our second way point we were faced with the challenge of Friday prayers, all thanks to @Gaurav bhai and the spirit of the team who waited for the Muslins to pray their Friday prayers on the way in the heat. As soon as we were done the team was on it's way to Jimi Mall in Al Ain. Here we were met by Saleem Bhai and I had an idea which was well received by the team and supported without any questions. After a 5 minutes promise a 30 minutes adjustment to the cars to get a one off photo, hope it turns out well. We then had a relaxed lunch and were headed to Fujairah. On the way we saw Fossil Rocks which is our playground and stopped in a cafe right opposite to have a quick tea and we were off again. We reached Fujairah City Center to take a quick pic, fueled up and we were up and running towards Ras Al Khaimah at which point Kavin had to leave. We headed to the Ice Land Water Park in Ras Al Khaimah and the security guard was not to pleased to see us at their closing time and was trying to get rid of us soon. So we took a quick pic and were off to Dreamland Aqua Park in Umm Al Quwain, it was the shortest leg of our trip and with the place deserted we did not have a problem with the parking, the challenge at this time was the lighting. It was dark as the night fall and we were dependent on the camera flash to get the best picture we could. Now it was time of Ajman City Center and it was not to far, though the challenge here was the construction work as we were warned by Saleem Bhai. At one point the group also split up but were soon united thanks to the walkie talkies we were using. We had a challenge to take the pic and had an unusal spot but with that picture in the bag we moved to the next spot which was the Sharjah Paint Ball Park. We faced no resistance at this point and had a good picture, but at this point Saleem had to head back. Still with majority of the cars still in and only Dubai to go we rushed to the Dubai Canals and tried to search a suitable spot. We had some difficulty finding a suitable spot, but with the group tired and hungry Gaurav Bhai made the right decision of taking a pic with the Burj Khalifa in the back-drop from the best angle we could find. So came a conclusion for our Round the UAE in one day, against my belief it was possible and where Waqas Bhai gave us the idea, Gaurav Bhai made it all very comfortable and doable with majority cars from start to finish. To further reward the members for their time and efforts, Gaurav Bhai had not only printed out but arranged the certificates for the day in the most beautiful way. A picture with each of the drivers holding their certificates proudly with their rides was the cherry on top of the cake. My sincere thanks to Waqas Bhai for his idea along with a sketch of what could have been 1 possibility, Gaurav Bhai for further trimming down the map to make it more bearable and relaxed, furthermore a fantastic lead. Lastly a big thank you for the whole convoy to make it easy for the sweep team to have the situation in control at all times and taking different responsibilities at different times to make this a journey well remembering.3 points

It was the most amazing and magical drive that I have been waiting for since long time. I spent about 17 years in Dubai and been to almost every nook and corner in the UAE, but never realized that we can cover all the emirates in one day until Waqas imagination gave us this idea. The idea of covering whole country in one day round road trip was just too exciting. And this excitement continue to grow when one after the other carnity member signed up against all the odds of 45-50 degrees heat and driving through the dry and arid land could be strenuous. The occasion of reaching 15,000 members was just too big that no one care about August heat and jumped into this exciting drive to mark their presence. Sincere thanks to Asif Hussain, Abdul Basit Khan, Baiju Jayapalan, Kavin Shah, Manu M S, Ayesha, Rahimdad, Saleem and Vivian. We started from last Emarat Petrol Station on Jebel Ali side toward Abu Dhbai by 10 AM and finished at Dubai Canal by 12 AM by driving almost 700 kms. It took us 14 hours instead of 10-11 hours as planned, but we learned a lot from this first experience and still manage to cover all the emirates in one day. Starting point: Emarat Petrol Station, SZR, Dubai Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi Al Jimi Mall, Al Ain Fujairah City Center Iceland Waterpark, Ras Al Khaimah Dreamland Aquapark, Umm Al Quwain Ajman City Center, Ajman Sharjah Paintball Park, Sharjah Dubai Canal Parking, Dubai Lesson Learned: Factor extra time for wrong turns, closed road, detour through unpaved slower roads etc. Optimize the picture taking time, and no need to over-perfect every moment. Restrict lunch break and add few quick tea stops enroute. Start early to experience Al Ain - Fujairah - RAK route in daylight. Reverse route can be tried to put interesting roads and scenic beauty in daylight. We can exclude Al Ain as it's part of Abu Dhabi emirates.2 points

Regarding the visa, most UAE residents get it on arrival. You can simply just call up the Oman Consulate and recheck the designation on the passport. Further, in previous years the Oman Consulate would stop issuing visa at the consulate one week prior to the holidays due to huge rush. If you are travelling 2 days before the holidays you will definitely miss the border rush. Else if you are close to the holidays you might want to cross the border at night or early in the morning before 6 am.2 points

I was super busy and i couldn't see this post earlier. Anyway I am super excited to see all of you. My friends asked me..."you are already driving 350-400km a day and are you crazy to drive on this super hot (holi)day again a 600km?" We dont have to explain our passion right? I just smiled 😀2 points

@desertdude @Rahimdad @Gaurav Hello again, I browsed around google with no success. The question! what happens on switching to off road gear on road? Let's take the lc100 series as an example, there are 3 off road gears, one for standard road driving, one low and one high. I know the low one shouldn't be used on road because it provides low gear ratio and excessive fuel consumption. What happens on high compared to standard road driving. What if someone started using the high gear for everyday road driving? If you want me to be more specific let me know! Thanks!!1 point

I hope this video will help clear some of the doubts on how the differential works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYAw79386WI1 point

It puts your entire transmission in neutral, You could be in D,P or 1.2.3.4.5 but if that one is in N the car wont move and that is teh transmission should be in when wheels on the ground towing an auto car1 point

Apart from above things desertdude mentioned, you will experience heavier ride and high fuel consumption if you engage full time 4x4 in your LC, while on road. However, if you experience on road surface that has turn slippery due to an accident or nature's impact or broken road where all 4 tires grip will make noticeable difference, then you can use it for a short while.1 point

Specifically for the LC100 the early generation manuals came with H2 : Regular everyday driving with power only going to the rear wheels H4 : 4wd mode the front and rear diffs are locked to each other, think of it as only one drive shaft running from the front to the back, if the front turns the rear also has to turn, since most didn't come in the fulltime 4wd version, they lacked a center diff. You shouldn't be driving on tarmac or paved surfaces with this engaged as front wheels speed will differ with the rear wheel, specially during turns you will put undue stress on the drive train, tyres will squeel at low speed turns and steering will be very heavy. And evenutally end up snapping an axel shaft or crunching the diff with prolonged use. L4 : Same as above but in low ratio. Automatic LCs and later on H2 was removed from the lever and a button on the dash was given, which would electronically engage 4wd once pressed. I know this because I had one and have tried it, you could put in Low Range without pressing the 4wd button and you would have low range Rwd vehicle! Many cars and even some LCs come with a center diff some lockable and some not, which allows it to be a fulltime 4wd and you can drive on roads at any speed, for example Land Rovers ( Defenders, Discoverys, Range Rovers etc etc ) Only come in fulltime 4wd, you cannot switch to 2wd mode.1 point

Not as tough as the toyota pickups but they drive pretty well on road. Pretty comfortable infact. Ive driven the crew cab off road. Its pretty alright but you really need to watch the cross over angle and it gets jacked up on even the smallest blades. And if its the newer models the front bumper will need to be modified as they really are too low giving them shitty approach angles.1 point

I have never been a fan of soft-roaders. I once crossed much of the Sahara with a Unimog, and to my mind, there is nothing to beat it in sand.1 point

Due to some unavoidable circumstances, I won't be able to join you all in this most awaited Salalah trip. I'm going to miss this very badly.0 points
