First of all just a little pedantry. Its a 1998. It might be registered as a 1999 but its a 98 because of having a GEMS engine. Even my 98 was registered as a 99. Anywhoo. These bottles are know to get old and split at the seam although personally have never experienced such in the 4 p38s Ive owned. Although Gauravs cut and paste is valid but Im thinking a hose would have let go way before pressure build up let to the bottle splitting Also it could be a combination of both. Bottle was weak and pressure just accelerated the process. The radiator is a know weak point in these cars due to its very thin pipes which easily get clogged. For now I would replace the bottle and keep a hawks eye on the temp gauge. I wouldl also invest in a cheap scanner to get live data on the temp. The temp needle is highly inaccurate. By the time the needle leaves the 12 o clock position and starts moving towards the red. Its almost too late anyways. Also I would check my viscous fan. Easy to do. Look it up and also see if the condenser aux fans are coming on. A little mod on these cars is to unplug and. Then short the pressure switch using a paper clip going in to the AC filter located behind the driver side foglight. it has access from under the car. With this everytime your compressor kicks in the aux fan also kick in. This general gives you better AC performance anyways since the condenser is always cool.

I've not had this happen to a car of mine. However, many years ago during my military service I did a stint as a convoy driver, and during one overnight stop, someone stole the transfer case off of my truck. It could only have been someone in the convoy, since we were in the bush and many miles from anywhere. There was a major hullabaloo about it and I ended with a black mark on my record. It was only two years later, when we were all drunk in the mess one night that the thief confessed. It turns out that he had destroyed the transfer case on his truck when he did something stupid, and bribed the convoy mechanics to steal a transfer off another truck- which happened to be mine. It must have been an interesting exercise in bush mechanics- removing two transfer cases that weigh nearly 300 kg each, and doing it so that nobody noticed. I might also mention that the destroyed transfer case was never found.

Ok, I'm going to throw this out there. There is no such thing as a 5k service. I started a massive thread on this. Mitsubishi recommended an oil and filter change every 10k. Sorry to say, but you have been scammed. There is no 40k service in the Mitsubishi schedule. If anyone has told you otherwise, they are trying to rape your wallet. Below I will post the official Mitsubishi service schedule, direct from the factory, Once a year or 10,000 km: Change engine’s oil and filter (1) Replace air filter if used in dusty area Inspect coolant hoses Inspect brake hoses Inspect brakes – discs and pads, replace if necessary. Rotate tires Inspect ball joints and steering components for grease leaks Inspect drive shafts boot for tears and grease leaks Grease the propeller shafts joints. Adjust the valves (diesel engines only) Check the differential oil level Check the transfer oil level Check the engine driving belt – replace if needed (dry/cracked) Inspect fuel system 3.2 diesel engine – check the upper timing guide Every 2 years or 25,000 km (which ever comes first): Change automatic transmission lubricate and filter (2) Change manual transmission lubricate. (3) Change transfer oil (4) Change differentials oil (5) Drain, wash and refill the cooling system (with new coolant) Inspect spark plug cables Replace air filter Every 5 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first) Replace timing belt (If any) Replace spark plugs Replace spark plug cables This is all information copied and pasted from the Mitsubishi factory service schedule. You can google it if you want. Don't fall for dealer scams telling you this needs done and that needs done. If they tell you it will invalidate your warranty, it's bullshit. This is the official Mitsubishi service schedule. If the dealer has a problem with it, tell them ok, I'll ask Japan. They will soon change their tune.

I have never seen a header tank explode. There must have been some serious pressure in the tank for that to happen. Hard plastic tanks can age and develop micro cracks which weakens them and they can leak so I surmise if there was enough pressure it could explode a worn tank. My course of action would be to replace the header tank, refill and bleed the system and do some basic tests. If the engine overheated to that extent, the first test I would do is a sniff test to check for hydrocarbons in the cooling system. You can buy sniff test kits cheap online. It will tell you if you have an issue with the head gasket or a crack in the cylinder letting exhaust gases into the coolant.

Your cooling system is malfunctioning and that's why expansion bottle is highly pressurized. This could be because of several reasons and first to doubt is Engine Fan (viscose clutch / electric fan) is working or not? Isn't the radiator blocked due to corrosion or leaking due to external damage? Maybe any of the radiator hose ruptured due to pressure and leaked all the coolant. Last but not least maybe your AC fan stopped working. In such scenarios possibilities are endless and proper diagnose can only help, but next time you encounter the heat gauge moved substantially to the hot red zone, immediately switch off the engine and pour water on the radiator fins "without opening the radiator cap or expansion bottle cap". Any car engine when overheating have only a few seconds of life to survive without blowing the head gasket and that will be major expense to open the engine head and replace the gasket, worst scenario if head is warp especially in Range Rover aluminium block engine, very easy to warp the head means to replace the engine head itself. I seriously hope while taking the video you have switched off the engine. Once you switch off and let the engine cool down by spraying water externally then after 10-15 mins you can switch on again for 5-10 seconds and find out which thing is causing this overheating. It could be something simple as an engine or AC fan relay and little tap or open/close could again start the fan (if you are lucky). I had a similar issue in my P38 Range while in stop and go traffic in Meena bazaar when all of sudden AC started blowing warm air and I saw the heat gauge moving towards red and switched off the engine. Stepped out and push the car in the proper parking and then discovered that top radiator hose burst due to stop and go traffic stress in the month of june-july and lost almost half the coolant and cause the engine to boil.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this here till now, specially seeing there is a big number of offroaders here. I've been following this for a couple of years now ever since a few beta version was out and must say have quite enjoyed it and around 2 years I actually bought it, something I rarely do, I usually "borrow" it for a while and get rid of it once I'm done. Oh what am I talking about, if you haven't guessed from the title already Spintires of course on the best ( IMO ) off-roading game ever! Now I dunno how many are into gaming, and to be honest I'm not really into gaming either but if its car related and more a simulation than an actual game them I'm game ( pun intended! ) Anyways there really isn't much to do game wise other than to drive all sorts of awesome vehicles over all sorts of difficult offroad terrain and like I said its more of simulation than a game and real world off roading knowledge does come in use, you could find your self bogged down up to your diffs in mud, water or sand. Forget to engage 4x4 and you could find your struggling on gatch tracks, to cross that real wide gully, difflocks will come handy and if you had it, you can even winch yourself out or take control of another vehicle or if playing online ask your buddy to come over and give you a pull. Its now developed into a huge online community with tons of terrain maps and every possible vehicle you can think of available for download for free I use my PC to play it and it was developed for the PC but its available on Xbox and PS as well, so no excuse not to get it. Just a taste of what kind of vehicles that are available And just so no one feels left out even the cozzies Admittedly the sand terrain maps I've able to find and download have not be totally realistic or at all, but thats mostly because the game was developed with mudding, trails and rockcrawling in mind but I still find it awesomely fun. Like I said infinite number of cars and terrains and maps available, so give it shot and let us know what you think Download the demo and if you like it buy the full version, its pretty cheap for around $15, money well spent I say OH WORD OF WARNING THOUGH. Don't buy the sequel, Which is called SpinTires Mudrunner, its pretty limited in car and terrain choice

It never happen to me bu i am hearing it is happening in Turkey. Mostly they are stealing rims but sometimes they getting crazy and they are stealing doors etc.
