So I just called Mr Mohsen and I am visiting there for the replacement on this Saturday. He did not give me any costing over the phone which is fine for me. Shall give you the feedback once the work is completed.

I recommend you change the belt, 2 idler pulleys and tensioner. Changing the water pump is optional. It rarely fails but it's better to spend a few extra dirhams when everything is stripped back that far already. No point paying 2 sets of labour charges. As for which belt you use, yes the original Mitsubishi belt is good but don't discount a belt made by gates. Gates are one of the leading belt manufacturers and supply belts for new cars. You just don't see it because it's labeled differently. And yes 1.5-2k is a good price. The dealer charges 7k. The parts cost between 5-600, of course the mechanic is entitled to his markup, but the dealer price includes 5k of bs.

I would say skip it solely based on the fact you have long daily commute, get something bigger and more comfortable. But that depends also on what car you are using now as you daily driver. Whether the zuk is a step forward or backwards.

I have had a great experience with one of the simple garages recently. They are "CHAMPIONS SPEED" in Al-quoz and offer excellent service for a very reasonable cost. I had big issue related to differential and got changed from them with complete satisfaction.

Dealer here for Mitsubishi is Al Habtoor and not Al Futtaim. The service packages now offer by Al Habtoor Motors is for every 10k and not 5k like Al Futtaim has ripped you so far. I agree Dynatrade is a good option.

You can go to Dynatrade Service Center. They have their workshops in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi. They are reasonable and provide good service and are experts in Japanese cars. I have been using their services for the last 6 years and quite satisfied with them. They also offer service packages.

Must be the RX7. The rotary engine the seals wear out and need to be replaced or the car will run short on oil as it burns oil. Hope it helps.

Thank you Gaurav for your valuable inputs. Suzuki in UAE is offering 7 years warranty which includes for Engine, Transmission and Air condition and that's made me to think about this car. I am not worried about car depreciation as long as this car is reliable. Drive quality is very important for me as my daily commute is around 170 Kms. I have booked test-drive for this week and As you said, I am planning to take a test drive with the used car market this weekend as-well.

The perfect weather, the perfect participants, the perfect detour all made this drive as exciting as leaving a broad smile on my face after a very tiring week at work. As we got together and realized we are all experienced enough we decided to do a little exploration. So instead of our normal Pink Rocks to Big Red we all jumped to the opportunity of exploring the opposite side. I luckily found a route which I had done 8 years back in the area and @Gaurav bhai stayed very close to my 8 year old track without me sharing the route with him. @EmVarlet did a brilliant job in second lead. @shadow79 did brilliant to follow orders and lead the rest of us by example. @sertac was always there to help me in sweep duties. We had a good mix of some nice small to medium dunes with sudden soft patches and unexpected sharp drops with bumps. We progressed well and saw some gazelles on the way eventually stopping near the fence of Maha Desert Resort to lay our spread. What a pleasant evening with loads of stories shared and well kept secrets disclosed. @EmVarlet for a handsome lay which felt like a full dinner, @Gaurav for some amazing sandwiches, @shadow79 for some cold ones and @sertac for the chips. It wad time well spent with some drive in the dark still to go. As we cleaned up and left the area, it was pitch dark with only our LEDs to light up the desert and we made our way to the road one dune at a time. I was pleasantly surprised to see everyone so comfortable driving in the night and this gears us up for the upcoming season of night drives till the weather allows us to drive in the day lights again. In a very long time we finished in good time without major issues, touch wood. As we headed to the other side and inflated at the Eppco pump it was time to say See you soon. Headed home feeling good, Ramadan on soon and start of our night drives. Whose going to post the first night drive for Ramadan?

It indeed sounds nice with 7 yrs unlimited km warranty too good to be true, means Suzuki is not selling these cars well in the UAE. Which in turn begs two questions: How is it to drive and how's the resale.....? Make sure to test drive the car before buying, if I am in your place I will also test drive a year or two-year-old cars from used car market and see how it stand with the test of time with UAE heat, when it comes AC cooling, responsiveness, handling etc. Also, check the resale drop of such less popular cars and if you are fine with steep depreciation then go for it. Last but not the least, remember no matter what Suzuki showroom or site says that it is an offroad athlete vehicle but it's "NOT". It may have a proper 4x4 system, but it will definitely not able to push through huge dunes and tall climbs in the UAE. Good for beach, small sandy area, and little dunes - at max.

For dashboard noise I'm not sure maybe @skumar83 can advise if this is a usual suspect of Pajero or not, but for rear door always make some noise in the rough area due to huge tall single piece door and you can barely reduce noise by changing the door beading and again it will come in few months. It's more of a design flaw of the door, and that's why many other big size 4x4 comes with 1 and a half or 2 doors to prevent such squeaking and clattering noise. For timing belt, I think it's 100k kms and not 120k, please refer to your car model owners manual and stick to it completely. @Barry can advise further what all things are recommended to change while doing the timing belt job, so you don't open that area again. I think belt pulley and the water pump is down there.....right barry. Get multiple quotes from the workshop and compare and it should be in 3-4K (Sharjah and Ajman) to 5-6k (Dubai) with original Mitsubishi spare parts + labor. DO NOT BUY NON-GENUINE PARTS for this job, as belt cost is far lesser than the damage it can cause if it breaks. Check your power steering fluid and top it up to see if this minor steering noise goes away, if not some mechanical diagnose is needed.

The used market isn’t great. They really hold their money. You can buy a full size 4x4 for less. The only reason to buy a jimny is if you really want a jimmy. If you looked hard enough, you could probably find something with a Denali engine for the same price.

Maybe not, but they are really good at building leak proof engines

i have a classmate who worked for al futaim and later on for al tayer and lately he has found so called enlightenment or has gone cucu and is living in a hut in sri lanka he used to say me that there are many cars coming in a day and many things are just checked and some are over looked and had a sentra come in for oil change and just causally asked to check the gear oil when removed oil it seemed it hasn't been changed but the customer stated that he had changed it recently by agency which charged him but maybe didn't do the work ...

As said, they really are 2 different beasts. If you really want proper sound deadening, it’s going to involve a lot of work. Whole interior needs to be stripped out. Door cards, seats, carpets, maybe even dashboard. Then it will all have to be covered in Dynamat or similar product. Then the interior has to go back in. You’re talking a weeks work. And it will add extra weight to the car. This will go some way to deadening road noise but the issue of wind noise will still be there.
