No they're not, i guess it is happening in any car if you direct the AC grills toward the windows. @Frederic2 points

Do you know your roles and responsibilities while off-roading? Offroad driving is one of the most famous adventure activities in the UAE. But due to the nature of this adventurous motorsport sometimes things do get unpleasant and everyone involved needs to know their roles and responsibilities clearly. Desert worthiness vehicle: While off-roading, every vehicle get pushed to its limit and for this reason, every off-roader needs to maintain, check and fix existing vehicle problems before every drive. Follow your owner's manual schedule maintenance for extreme driving (harsh environment) intervals and not standard road driving intervals. Preventive maintenance will save you much hassle and time in the long run. We are not mechanics - As much as Carnity trip lead and support offer the first level of vehicle assistance when things go wrong, but they are not mechanic and no one should rely on that emergency support to avoid any maintenance. We are not an Insurance provider - In case of an accident, please follow the UAE road accidents procedures and check with your car insurance company about off-road coverage and recovery plan (if any). We are not a desert recovery company - If your vehicle breaks down during the drive, Carnity trip lead and support will try as much as they can to help, but their vehicles aren't tow trucks to recover a dead vehicle or partially working vehicle out of the deep desert. There are professional desert recovery companies like AAA to assist you and take full responsibility for not causing any further damage while recovering a non-moving vehicle from the desert. We will never leave you alone - In case you ever need to leave your vehicle inside the desert to arrange insurance or recovery, then Carnity trip lead and support will drive you down to the nearest tarmac exit. Mechanical Damage / Failure: Every offroader is responsible for his/her own car failure/damage. Especially in the offroad use some minor long-pending issues might amplifies due to the off-road stress and it should not be blamed on anyone other than the owner of the car. If you have any remote doubt that something might fail in the upcoming off-road drive, then please get that fixed first and then join for next week's drive, rather than taking chances and/or increasing the existing damage. It's always a good practice to join a newbie drive first after some crucial repairs or maintenance to test your vehicle again and then join the Fewbie drive and then Intermediate (as per your off-road rank eligibility). Breakdown log reporting: Every trip lead is reporting the vehicle breakdown after the drive. Occasional breakdowns or accidents are totally acceptable, but repeat breakdown of the same vehicle will not be appreciated. Please look into repeat vehicle breakdown seriously before it becomes a concern for everyone. Two cars involved in an offroad accident: Please decide on the spot, whose fault it is, and report to the neighboring police station for appropriate green and red paper for repairs. Most insurance companies don't cover offroad damage so please make sure if you drive expensive 4x4 with comprehensive insurance, please check your offroad cover properly. Take a lot of pictures and videos of the accident site as Police always ask for this and also save the coordinates of the location as sometimes police like to revisit that area to verify the accident. Single car damage in offroad: In case your car flips or rollover or have any impact damage, take a lot of pictures and videos of the incident as Police always ask for this and also save the coordinates of the location. Tow point failure damage: Every offroader is responsible for their own car tow point strength, integrity, and load taking capacity. If your car tow point fails during "ANY" sort of recovery and damages the other offroader car, then you will be liable for all the damages including the car, driver, and passenger bodily injuries. To avoid such a situation always recover gently and gradually increase the intensity of the tug. If you still suspect that a lot harder tug is needed use the support strap, dampers, or sandbag to secure both ends of the tow rope. Damage while recovering: As much as every trip lead and support are trained to prevent the damage while recovering any vehicle, but the ultimate responsibility of any damage while recovering lies with the owner of the stuck car. Scenario 1: In some cases when your car nosedive in the sand pocket, the front bumper damage is already done, but it becomes visible when your car gets fully recovered out of the pocket. Scenario 2: While recovering a stuck car by a tug, if the stuck car doesn’t stop early enough after the recovery and hit the recovering car, then the stuck car owner is at fault and liable for all damages involved. Lubes / Spare Sharing: Many offroaders do carry a lot of spare fluids, oil, coolant, and other spare parts for emergency situations. If your car breaks down and someone offers you their spares or lubes, have the courtesy to pay or replace that in the next drive. Offroad Gear: Every offroader is 100% responsible for his/her own off-road gear, tools, and equipment and should know how to use them safely and how to take care of them in terms of regular maintenance (if any). If you lend your tow rope to someone, it's your responsibility to make sure that it doesn't have a knot. If you lend your jack, either stay around to see if it's placed on flat ground to not bend or brief them properly. If you lend your toolbox or tools, you need to make sure it's used as intended and they don't break. If you winch someone, you should know your winch capacity to do the recovery safely. If you lend your compressor, make sure it's not overheating or wait for it to cool down. Shovel, flag, radio, etc. is also your own responsibility & share it at your own risk. Off-road Promotions: As per Carnity Off-road Structure every off-roader has been assigned an off-road rank based on your driving skills, vehicle capability, and overall attitude towards off-roading. These promotions, ranks, and structures are in place to make sure that everyone is completely safe including you and your vehicle during all off-road drives. Due to safety reasons, there is zero-tolerance while promoting offroaders in Carnity off-road club. Once anyone applies for the off-road promotion, the request goes to all trip lead with who you have driven to access your off-road progress. Mostly all promotion requests are accepted immediately. For some, we request them to do a couple of more drives with the feedback in which you need to improve. Please accept and respect this club policy to help us maintain a safer off-road experience for everyone. Emergency details for all off-roaders: Please fill up all Emergency details here and also take a print out to keep the same in your glove box. It is mandatory for all off-roaders driving with Carnity Off-road Club.1 point

You will never get the value of your car from selling it back to a dealer. Remember the dealer is trying to buy it cheap so they can sell it on again and make a profit. Private sale is always the best option to make more money. This was my first experience with a dealer. I remember when the Focus RS came out. I wanted one so bad so I took one out for a test drive for an hour. The salesman came with me telling me this yadda yadda, horsepower yadda yadda, I asked him if the car had LSD, he didn’t know. The car salesmen generally don’t know anything about what they are selling other than what is on the printed piece of paper handed to him. These aren’t car people like us, they are salesmen trying to make a quick buck. Anyway, I was trying to make a deal with him for my old car. It was an old Mk 5 Escort. He offered me £400 for it and said he would send it to auction and dispose of it for me. I was so offended I just walked out and I didn’t even want to deal with him on the RS. It was just an old Escort but it was a 3 door non sunroof shell, and to anyone in the know, it’s a highly sought after car by motorsport builders, they were produced in low numbers and they just aren’t out there to find randomly. I ended up selling it privately for £6000. In dirhams, I ended up getting 26,000 more than the dealer offered me. I hate dealers. I remember going to look at a new Patrol Safari a few months ago. Dealer wouldn’t even give me a test drive. Expected me just to hand over cash to him. His reason, this is the best 4x4 in UAE, everyone wants one. I don’t know about other people but I’m not going to hand over a massive chunk of cash without driving something first.1 point

I feel new car is only for people who are not concerned about the resale value and take the full car amount as usable or disposable. Means buy new car and commit to use till its end of life 5-10-15 years. OR get ready to dispose (not SELL) at any stolen car price offered by used car dealers, resellers or auction sites. So if you are among those 28% people who prefer new car than 72% prefer used cars, go for it.1 point

The guaranteed minimum value that they will give for your car will be ridiculously low, considering that they have to keep a safety margin based on the cars condition, prepping the car for selling through their own second hand branches, and make a buck on it. I have seen a very similar thing in Europe called 1–2-3 contract on brands like Opel and a few others. I took this deal on one of my first cars and after three years they gave me a laughable low price to take over my car, for reasons described above, although the car was in pristine condition. Ended up keeping the car and paying off the remaining balance myself.1 point

I am not sure about the prices. But you can contact this guy, Harry 0523102218. They deliver battery anywhere in Dubai. He sells exclusively Amaron batteries only.1 point

Sometimes the doors insulation becomes bad or leaks air which goes through the heater core as well will drop cooling while the AC is on so instead of opening up the havc box and sorting it out we too disabled many heaters as opening up dash vs looping off the heater there is a good cost difference so obviously you know what will be chosen customer...1 point

If this was something done by the main dealer I would be sending an email direct to Mitsubishi in Japan asking for an explanation. Chances are you will get the problem rectified for free. And trust me, when they disconnected your heater matrix, it had no correlation to your AC cooling. I’m sure Mitsubishi would be very interested to hear about this and know the dealer is doing incompetent work by unqualified employees.1 point

Mine became weak when I once forgot to turn the ignition off (thanks to keyless starting system) and went away later on in the evening when I returned back it was drained but after jump start it just wasn't the same as before and died within a months time after that incident but nonetheless it had run for 4 renewals...1 point

As i mentioned this was done by habtoor however i did not ask for this as a service they have disabled the heater without asking me. I was told about it when i was reviewing what was done in the car. However the service advisor confirmed to me that is a common thing they do for Mitsubishi cars to improve the AC. I have not researched this nor thought about the idea behind i should have but when it comes to the habtoor service i kind of trust them more to do the right thing. If it was a regular car garage i wouldn't have mentioned it or most probably i would have requested them to return it back as it was. Somehow air conditioning got better in my car. I will do a deep research on this point, thanks for highlighting this point, this is why we are all here. To learn from each other experiences.1 point

I have an easy solution to that, keep driver grills facing you and passenger grills facing other side pointed towards window. Whenever I need quick engine cool down while driving even, roll down all windows, AC Off, heater on, close my side vent and open passenger vent. Max 30 sec temp drops to normal even while pushing the car in full heat. I This way have never exceed temp above 110 while 90 is ideal, so I keep waiting till it reaches 110 occasionally to do this trick otherwise it keeps dancing between 100 and 105 range while offroading.1 point

I think weve already had this conversation about heaters here. Mostly disconnected when heater core is clogged or keaking. Not worth the money to rip out the dash to fix it in these climates for something you might need once a year for 5 mins. But if its workig fine then no need to bypass it. And rightly pointed out it has nothing to do with AC cooling and a quick cooler for an overheating car. I remeber I had to use the heater on full trickvon my friends overheating maxima while coming back from Al Ain. It worked long enough fir us to reach our shop in sharjah. But was no fun to drive in mid summer in the heat with the heater on full blast. It was a race against time to see which would faint first the car or us!!!!1 point

I also want to know more how disabling heater helps in cooling? On the contrary, heater is a blessing while offroading as occasionally when engine temp start rising and doesn't come to previous level, switch on heat and open all windows and within 30 secs engine temperature drops instead of waiting for 10 mins in idle with hood open. Reason behind this is heater uses engine heat to throw out from the blower and help dissipate lot of heat in seconds. In UAE I have only used heater once in last 17 years of driving, but every year used heater in summer at least more than 5-10 times while offroading.1 point

I drive to work in flip flops every day, change to my work boots and change back into flip flops to drive home again. I like to drive barefoot sometimes too. Never had a problem. We have a Shelby Cobra at work that I can’t drive unless I’m barefoot, the pedals are too close and my feet are too big. I guess this is to try to control the retards who can’t drive properly no matter what they wear in their feet.1 point

Disabling/bypassing the heater matrix is bad and any professional mechanic who recommends it should be stripped of his qualifications. The heater matrix is part of the cooling system and is required for proper operation as per manufacturer specifications. This is a fix done by lazy and incompetent mechanics who have no idea how to replace a heater matrix or think it’s a magic cure for engine overheating, which it isn’t If you can explain how disabling the heater matrix improves AC cooling then I am all ears although I bet you have never researched this and are going on the advice of someone else who has also not properly researched how automotive HVAC systems work.1 point
