As the weather begin to change for good, this might be the last night drive to enjoy this year, as now in night weather has become very pleasant with cool breeze. Time to enjoy chilled out desert drive in our much loved Mahafiz sandbox till the morning. If time permit and convoy response are favorable, we might continue play in morning at monster dunes after fossil rock area, if not we will end and exit. This area offers a great mix of playable dunes and medium dunes to test your night driving skills. Depending on convoy strength and liking will plan the route to fit everyone's taste and capabilities. Offroad lights are recommended for a night drive, but if you don't have you can still safely drive with your HIGH BEAM. OK guys, update on the issue: Oil sensor wiring got disconnected so rewire and solder it again and engine oil light flickering is completely gone now.

First of all have lot of fun, as its brilliant drive and I'm waiting since few years to repeat again without any luck. Road and car safety tips for long road trip to Salalah: Check all fluids level constantly for few days prior to your trip, both before driving and after. Get all bushes, belts and hoses check from proper mechanic with expected remaining life. Carry the good size tool box, gloves, duct tape, mseal, cable ties, tie-down straps for safety. Inflate all tires at 35 when fully warmed up, means start with 32 and check after an hour to top up. Stop every 150-200 kms at every fuel station for 15 mins to check and rest yourself and car. Refuel at every gas station spaced roughly 200 kms away to avoid no-show in next station. Avoid high speed for long hours, keep it at 120-140 is good for engine and fuel efficiency. Take 8-10 hours sleep in advance for 3 consecutive day prior if you are planning to drive in one shot. Don't eat full stomach meal, you will fall sleep, no matter how much you were rested before. If you feel sleepy, pull over far away in barren land (either side) and take a nap, than pushing. Start at night so that you can reach Salalah before it get dark, as driving in night is bit risky as incoming traffic blinds you very much on one-way road. Starting from Dubai at night till Muscat is good well lit road, so you will hit that one-way road during daytime.

Did I hear monster dunes?

I seriously doubt that. Possibly the sand is very soft due to no traffic in that area. Give it a bit time till winter and most likely you should have the power to do it. 😁

We have planned a trip to salalah, Need expert advice on do and don't I will be the only driver My car will be 2008 Pajero 3.00 LBW Recently i have changed Radiator , Break pads and Spark Plugs Still Oil change is 7000 Kms away

Oh we have you always to perfectly fitting that criteria, lololol.

You may start more early to avoid rush at border and also in case you waste time at border still be able to cover that second leg during daylight. Plan break at every 150-200 kms as all fuel station are positioned that way, with 300 km you might not be in sync. Dig some old salalah thread here and quote those people who have visited last year for latest update on fuel station, road, places etc.

Yeah it's not very good but is better than having nothing, it will work as long as your wheel keeps turning. It's good for road emergencies specially for some ladies that don't know much about cars. I have tried many but always go with slime. But for off-road I would just use a tire repair kit and a compressor. It is more reliable on big tires.

Yes that’s a good remark. Also check if the unit accepts MP3 only or not. You might have other audio formats on that cards like M4a, AAC, Wmv, etc... that the unit is having difficulty with.

If you can climb Iftar Bowl (you did it many times I guess), you can climb Faya

I actually got it done in Deira Naif area and unfortunately have not had the time to visit the area yet. But in the meanwhile, I was able to isolate the issue to my SD card only and I was reading somewhere (cant recollect where now) that if in the SD card there are more than 99 songs in a single folder this error can happen. So would be segregating the songs in the folders and giving it a try.

I have repaired a big hole puncture with this kit in less than 10 mins in offroad and then continue using that tire for 2 years. This exactly how puncture shop repair the puncture. These little strings are literally magical to stop leak after you wet them.

Well I always wanted so see if they actually work. Being a long time offroader always carry a air comp in all my cars so never needed it. Seems like the yellow can fix a flat which is widely available here didn't turn out so good

Don't worry as acetone+atf still better than WD40 by two places. If you open the stuck plug, it will pay you back in multi-fold. Hope this does the magic and Pathy gets new plug soon. Just an idea: Maybe you can use torque wrench to limit the force than breaking the plug, so when torque wrench slips keep pouring the penetrating solution every 30 minutes. Only catch is to find the plug breaking torque.....! Shouldn't be very difficult though.

Many German cars don't come with a spare tyre anymore, so i bought two of these cans to keep with me in case of a flat tyre. Never used them so if anybody wants them let me know.

Seems that the guy never used fix a flat before it took him 3 attempts to understand how to use it 😂. They all do the job, which is to repair your tire temporarily so you can go and have it repaired. I would not use preventive products like tire sealant specially on modern cars, they could mess up with your TPMS. They also make Slime in a spray similar to fix a flat. All my cars back home have two Slime cans in case of an emergency. I haven't seen it here though.

You could have just used any penetrating oil like WD40 and you'd be halfway done by now and probably spent less for a can of WD40, this concoction is an old mechanics tricks to cook up a quick batch in a rush or to save a few pennies if you use it a lot by just using stuff lying around in the garage. Here is a side by side test of this mix along with WD40 and the mix came in behind WD40

Mix ATF and acetone (nail polish remover) 50/50 and pour it on the threads every day for a week. It will soak into the threads though capillary action and make them easier to remove. But you need to give it time. It’s not an overnight thing. Keep repeating. Doing it on a warm engine will help. If you’re using a spark plug socket, take the rubber insert out. I don’t know how, I don’t know why, but when you use the insert, there is a higher chance of breaking the plug. An old mechanic told me this years ago and from my experience he was right. Use a regular socket. When it’s loose, use a magnet to lift the plug out. Screw extractors, also known as Ezee Outs serve a purpose but you have to be careful using them. They are made of extremely hard metal, therefore extremely brittle. They are harder than drill bits so if you break a screw extractor it’s not just a matter of drilling it out. Are you sure it’s a spark plug problem? Speed is irrelevant. Bad plugs will cause a misfire under load, ie when you are holding the throttle down and trying to accelerate. If you want to drop by the shop I’ll take a look at it for you, FOC.

Hi, guys! Just want to share my experience with you, it might be helpful for somebody. These days you can notice tons of LED light bulbs designed to replace conventional halogen light bulbs. First of all, I have some doubts that it is legal. If you are ok with it, you might want to install them because they are so bright! First type. A lot of LEDs on all sides of the light bulb. Looks great, but almost useless. The light is blinding fellow drivers but the road is not lit well. Second type. Two big LED chips on both sides of the bulb. It is a bit better but still it lights everything around and not the road. Third type. Three tiny chips on both sides of the bulb. It is almost perfect. In reflector type headlights it is not ideal, in lens type headlights should be good with descent border between light and shade on the road. Quality of the light bulb and precision of LED chips placement plays a big role here. Forth. A-Brand light bulb. Almost perfect in most of situations but considerably more expensive. General rule. The smaller LED chip, the better shape of the light. It is like that because conventional lights are designed to focus light from tiny halogen light, thus, position and size of LED chip should be as close to position and size of halogen light bulb as possible. My experience. I bought my car with second-type bulbs installed in high-beam lights. Well, for high-beam it was not that bad, for dimmed light it was not suitable at all. I decided to change it to something better. I bought third-type light bulbs for High-beam, dimmed and fog lights. Some with active cooling (with fan), some with passive (just radiator). After several months, one active-cooling light bulb failed in dimmed head light, the rest is still fine including passive-cooling fog-lights which I use a lot. After the failure, I decided to buy Philips light bulb to install them into dimmed headlight. Generally, LED light bulbs are bright. Not as bright as Xenon lights but still way brighter than halogen light bulbs. I'm satisfied with performance of lights and, important, its price. It is a significant improvement for a reasonable price!

Pajero between 2008 till 2011 all gear they auto shift they don't hold the gear so as far as i seen and heard and read here you don't need the car to auto change gear while climbing you lose the momentum. However i am open to learn from the offroading experts, that's why I am here in carnety
