For sand driving you don't really need alloy. Steel would be enough. We don't run much into rocks or other hard surfaces. The good thing about steel is that if bended you can bend it back with a big hammer.

I have been driving on stock steel rims for the past 2 years, had nasty bumps, jumps, etc, but never had a bent rim till date.

I too think steel rims will do the trick, I've seen more alloy wheels bent but never a steel rim. Added weight though, but nothing your ride will not be able to cope with.

Hey Guys, I was looking into purchasing some Beadlocks but have Zero intention of dishing out 1200 a Rim. Just wanted advice on if Steel Beadlocks are okay for our kind of drives. I don't mind adding the little extra weight a steel rim would add but knowing Alloy rims are Much stronger just want to make sure the steelies can handle the bumps and low tyre pressure driving. I don't understand why when a vehicle is through to the other side of the dune and gets stuck, you need to pull it back over the dune. With the weight of the car, a little digging would have gone a long way if you need to pull it back. The angle at the back was also not a good one. Seen many accidents as such over the years and people never learn.

Replaced my front and rear shocks with coils and now car is lifted by 2inches. Replaced the steering pump. Fixed skip plate ( As i got it free from my friend) Replaced my front and rear shocks with coils and now car is lifted by 2inches.

@syedyaseer i would suggest better go for 2004-2005 models as 2003 and 2002 models has maf sensor problems which u will be needed to replace in 2-3 advance level drives. So i would suggest to try 2004 and 2005 models which doesn't has this problem.

Came across this. I have mixed feelings on this. I mean, if one wants to build an offroad toy I am pretty sure one wouldn't even consider a subcompact car. But props to him as it looks badass in a kind of weird and novel way. How do you think this will fare in the desert?

In the Hummer incident,The Cruiser was front-heavy , soft shackle would have been less dangerous but an alternate angle should have been considered in my view. I was conveyed by the grapevine that in this case the shackle hit the steering wheel and then the chin of the Hummer driver but can't confirm this as a fact, he survived. I have witnessed similar failure due to use of an eyelet instead of a properly rated tow hook resulting in the metal shackle ripping the eyelet like it was made of butter, then damaging the AC radiator and grill of the RAM being pulled .The RAM was being pulled by a Wrangler that was also a wrong vehicle due to the weight difference.

I've seen Jimny's roaming around Badayer and Sweihan a few times now, had 2-3 in my convoys at times too. They are an incredible machine BUT only after you put a bit of investment into them. Putting the 2.0 Vitara engine is a little expensive but many opt for the 1.6 liter engine swap which is easy to do and costs only 4-5K. I think @Gaurav has a point here in that the vehicle in the video does not look stock by its performance. However @desertdude the Jim is an awesome car if you're willing to put 10-15k into it to make it take on the world. Oh, and after you modify it... It will climb Moreeb with ease Cheers, Jas

Good morning, this is very old video taking rounds on social early this year just after the Jimny launch. God knows the authenticity or if it was a paid influencer job. You must have got the ice bucket challenge now in RAK huh. And if in today's world you believe everything you see on screen, then you are saint bro. I don't even believe my own eyes "unless" I see good number of repeat heros as everyone here like/drive sleeper cars and I have been fooled quite so many times by "Pride of the Land", "King of the offroad", "Best 4x4 by far" media and marketing bs and wasted ton of money and time to go home frustrated. It's been close to an year now this new Jimny launched, and I personally have not seen 1 in the UAE desert yet. I have seen 4 - 5 on the road only. Maybe they all are busy with liwa rounds. Hope you know in Jimny engine swap is the most easy and RTA friendly as 4 cyl to 4 cyl, but from 1.2/4L (76-100 hp) to 2.0L (160+ hp) vitara engine that kick ass with enough body-weight ratio to make this dinky literally fly on every dune.

If you are really obsessed with stick go for it else stay with Auto. choice is all yours 😉

So here comes my update so far - 1. Checked engine -ripped off as heard some minor sounds from engine and it was found exhaust side camshaft was broken- replaced it and overhauled engine and now it works fine 2. Replaced all fluids and after replacing the steering pump doesn't feel well with new oil. Bought another pump - waiting the garage to replace it. ( one advantage i found with pathfinder R50 is that all parts are easily available and of low cost ) 3.Front suspension damaged and need to be replaced - replaced with heavy duty CR7 suspension and it works fine 4.Running on stock coils its so fun to drive a manual here it brings back me nostalgia of driving car back home ( in India). 😍

Usually thermostat removal is advised to squeeze out last remaining life of engines as full time water is circulated through the radiator for cooling... then in some cars the engines are designed such that the removal of thermostat brings in heating issues directly or sometimes later down the road as water or coolant instead of circulating the engine it just enters water pump and leaves for the radiator leaving the block temp running high... If you intend to keep the bay area and engine cooling improved then toss in high capacity thick radiator and fix additional fans that way you can push it even in peak heat hours and get better overall performance as the radiator is exchanging heat in a much better way...
