@Lucky sAm, @Obaid.Sultan.1987, @Rizwanm2, @Edward Davies, @Incognitoes, @Amit0103, @Mahmoud Hamzawy, @Seldon @Matti Brockman, if you do have your own two way radios please bring them along, we can set them up to Carnity frequency after the briefing. If you dont have, we carry spare radios which we can provide for the drive. Its important that everyone is on time at the meeting point, i.e., 6:45 AM as the convoy will move sharp at 7:00 AM Thank you Seldon for the details, you are already well equipped for the newbie drive. Regarding the base plate for the jack, its not an urgent requirement and we have few experienced guys who can guide you where to get them.4 points

^^^^These are the fancy pants ones. If you don't get what you are looking for drive straight in the direction of Sharjah from the signal and you'll see more of them on both side of the road. These tyres and wheel shops go on for a further 2 or 3 signals. And don't be afraid to haggle. Start with 50% of asking price.3 points

yup its a big convoy...btw there are 3 h3's not 2 ..quite ironical3 points
-
It will look like a military convoy with 2 hummvees in it...so far 22 strong ...3 points
-
Well done, you can set it up to 462887 frequency with below step by step article. Anyone has a radio (walkie talkie) please set it up too, if not we will provide the spare radio for tomorrow's drive. You are most welcome Joe, what a nice coincidence that we also have another newbie with H3 for tomo drive. So now we will see who is a better driver as H3 will be the common denominator, lol.3 points

Sharjah industrial area is full of them, but I don't think you'll get what you're looking for. You need to check with scrap yards dealing with Pajero parts. Gaurav bhai can help you with the best scrappies for Pajero.3 points

If you keep Sahara center on your right, go straight and the whole tire, rim and accessories market will start on right hand side. I think I have posted a link with map here before, search or else I'll do tomo from desktop.3 points

We’re always told never meet your heroes or you’ll be disappointed. This applies to cars also. There are cars we’ve all dreamed of driving or owning, how did it go when you met your hero? For me it has to be the Escort Cosworth. I always had the poster of this on my wall as a kid. In my eyes it was the car that god would drive. My cousin bought one and I got a chance to drive it. Super disappointed. I was expecting supercar performance but in reality it was a hot hatch with a cool spoiler. I still love how they look but I would never want to own one now.2 points

This sagging roof liner is VERY common in German cars and second common in US cars, I rarely seen this in Japanese cars. I had same issue with my Cayenne and took it to Sara Auto Care for proper job (1600 dhs) for alcantra replacement. You are lucky that its fabric and it will be lot be cheaper. I tried few DIY stunts of cutting open and spraying 3M glue, than using liquid paste fabric adhesive but none of them actually worked because the foam used inside has gone so bad that with touch of adhesive it simply crumble and fall inside the liner. If I put too much glue, big spots were visible from underneath and after 1 day it will sag again. It was a terrible idea for DIY and I wasted lot of time and money for experiment. Root problem is the foam used inside is not strong enough to hold GCC heat and that's why it decomposes after few summers. It was very very common in Porsche, VW, Merc, BMW as sara auto guys showed me several images of the similar job they have done.2 points

You will also need to check Offset and Backspacing if changing rims to avoid any issues2 points

@Srikumar I bought a motorolla Walkie-talkie last week. will bring it along, just need to setup Thanks.2 points

It’s not the puddles I worry about, it’s what’s under them. You could be driving nicely along in a 2-3 inch puddle and fall into a big pothole and never see it.2 points

Looks like there might be competition on marshalling seats - wanted to let Jeepie have the car to herself a bit this time round! We like Wranglers (or at least some of us!)2 points

For some strange unknown reason, the head sheikh of UAE has put you in charge of all car, traffic and transport related matters, on the condition you change 3 things with immediate effect. What would you change and why?1 point

Make petrol and insurance cheap and get rid of toll gates. Shoot to kill orders for tailgaters, people cutting in, people crossing 20 lanes to make their exit and anyone over 10 kms the speed limit Only smog, tyre, headlight, indicator and brake and brake light check for renewal1 point

Its "easy" for a company like Sony to make a car like that to show off but to make it cost efficient and make money on it that is something completely different....1 point

@Gaurav the prices 600 and 250 are for full new replacement jobs; so it’s same. I visited a shop today in Karama who showed me the nee cloth sample similar to what my car has and asking for aed 600/- with 5 years gaurantee. I shall visit tomorrow the guy in Sharjah who offered aed 250/- for the similar job. Let’s see if he has the cloth same to my car. I prefer same cloth because my sun wiser has same cloth on it.1 point

Not needed if he downsizes from 18 inch to 17 inch for the 3.8 Pajero. Anything below the front brakes would obstruct.1 point

Hi Mahmoud, You can buy them from Dragon Mart. Following models are tried and tested: - Motorola MT777: are also sold now under the Crony Brand - Baofeng UV-5R - Prolab WT-5WDB1 Other model is fine too, but make sure it is a UHF model and you can set the frequency manually. We are at 462.8875Mhz and can help you with setup and programming of above models.1 point

If the headliner fabric came loose from its foam core, then you could indeed use a kind of 3M adhesive spray, but i am afraid it might bleed through it as mentioned in below topic. This seems to be a common issue with the previous Accord models too: https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/whats-a-good-way-to-fix-a-sagging-headliner.39011/1 point

I think it would cost you approx AED 150-200 in Ajman to get it replaced. If you want to do it yourself this is a good video1 point

Well done Obaid, please make sure you remove those plastic cover before the drive as sometimes they are easy to remove and sometimes they need few tools and patience. Appreciate if you can come to meeting point little early by 6:30, so that I can spend sometime in checking your car before the drive without delaying the whole convoy. You can call me once you reach the meeting point: 050 52587061 point

Any idea about the root cause of the sagging ? If the car has a sunroof you might have had water leakage ? If the headliner is dry and in good shape, you should be apply to apply some sealant silicon (like TEC7) on the headliner and gently push it back in place. If it got wet, then i would definitely advise to get it replaced or you might start getting mold and funky smells.1 point

I drive a 2007 Hummer H3. Serviced, all the tow hooks are in working order, including the diff locks and low range gearbox. I will be joining in the morning, looking forward to meeting all of you.1 point

Car testing in Germany is insanely strict. They even go as far to test the moisture content in the brake fluid.1 point

@Gaurav Good Morning, I checked the tow hooks yesterday, you were absolutely right about the plastic covers, front back both need to be removed to expose both "tow hooks".. I plan to remove them at night before the drive... About the low gear option working // still not checked... however, ill check and report back soon. Cheers!1 point
