UPDATE Got it checked with a key maker as suggested, turns out the key had apparently lost its memory. Thank God. So just spent about AED 250 to get the key reprogrammed as well as an additional key. Saved me the hassle of changing the receiver, computer and what not. Thanks guys

No Gathering | No Briefing | No BBQ | No Eating Together | No Touching | No Hugging MUST READ: Not following these rules and precautions = Not allowed to drive. We are only allowed to drive through the desert, as we are driving on the road now. So we will only do the desert driving just by sitting inside our cars at all the times and leave the drive without socializing or coming close to each other. For members who are fasting, they can break their fast discreetly and convoy will be stopped during that time and until they offer their prayer. How to maintain "STRICT" Social Distancing Meeting point will be set slightly (100m - 200m) inside the desert track. So, that you individually deflate your tires on the tarmac before reaching the meeting point. While deflating tires, stop cars 10 meters away from any other car. If at any time Marshal require help, then only you are allowed to step out by wearing face mask and gloves at all times. Drive completion and inflation Now, there will not be any gathering or sitting down together for food-break like before. Once drive is finished, after reaching the tarmac, everyone is requested to move away 50-100 meters before starting their inflation. For drivers having no compressor, can head to the near by fuel station. If drive is ending at a place where there is no fuel station near by, then trip lead will inform in advance so that drivers having their own compressor can join only. In this difficult times whole world "policy" is to stay safe and continue doing what we were with minimal restrictions. We were probably the first offroad club in the UAE to have "COVID Compliance offroad drives" posted publically by implementing strict restriction to safeguard everyone. To be in full compliance with authorities guideline and yet manage the convoy, we have restricted each drive to 10-15 cars at max. And doing that itself was a borderline challenge that we have to issue a new ban policy for the first time in Carnity history last week. I fully understand your enthusiasm and disappointment to not to able to join the drive, but wait for tomorrow as we always have maximum plus and minus on Thursday. And once you drive with carnity offroad club, I'm sure you will understand that why drives here get filled within few hours of posting. Kindly make sure that your name is in the wait list for the drive that you wish to join.

Great idea @Desert Dweller, at one point @Barry had suggested to have a session which would give everyone the basic knowledge of how the car operates and some basic tools and stuff. Maybe @Barry can help with such a session. It would also be helpful if @Jeepie, @Vanessa8580 and more people can join to make this session lower cost for all and @Barry could address several people in one session. What say @Barry? Do you want to launch a session which you had spoken about earlier but died due to no interest at that point?

Yes you are right @Rahimdad bhai and i must appreciate your memory for remembering this issue as even i almost forgot about it 😬.The kill switch didn't work the first time for me, because the garage didn't fix it properly, and they finally sorted it out the second time around. Its strange because that garage is a well known place(that i dont go to anymore) that does major off road modifications and the installation of a kill switch is such a simple procedure that a few off roaders have done it themselves.

Your driving style will change in intermediate level, you must kill the ABS while off-roading before anything happens.

My pajero is "dark-gray" or "ash" indeed. But doesn't matter, it is close to black...

I have also thought about taking some automotive training courses to get more knowledge and experience handling car maintenance and problems, a better understanding of car mechanics. If Carnity organizes some in the future I would be happy to join. I can spare a few hundreds of dirhams for that purpose.

Please make sure your radio is properly configured: Send frequency is being entered on parameter 02, Receive frequency is being set on parameter 04. as seen in video from 1:10 onwards.

@Desert Dweller instead of pressing the button, try press and hold for about 10 or 20 seconds to check if it completely switches off. If not I guess you will need to do a little more research before you go ahead with any mods. I think @Shamil has already been through the worst phase as after he installed a kill switch first drive he could not engage it in 4x4, a second visit was required to get a proper job done.

I only have the Traction control switch button, and I do notice now that I'm doing more serious drives that the car needs ABS kill switch too. But I did fine without it in Newbie drives.

HI @Janarthan. If you decide to go via the kill switch route, then this diagram could be helpful.

You need to install ABS kill switch which will disable all your stability controls. For newbie drive it is not very important, but get it installed as soon as possible. ABS is not tuned well for off-roading in xterra it can occasionally kick in during steep slopes and keep releasing the tires making your xterra go down without break or control. You must kill the ABS if you are going for serious drives. There are two ways to deactivate ABS 1) With ABS kill switch, which will cost you 150 to 200dhs and you can control from your dashboard easily. On and Off without any hassle. 2) With Fuse Modification, (which I had did) Bought a 3 way fuse from scrap which costed me 10dhs that's it. Then remove the connection from inside the last 30amp compartment (as shown in the picture below) YOU ARE DONE......... Just replace the fuse before off-roading with original one while car is turned off and key is removed. Then start the car and you see ABS light and all other stability control lights are turned on in your dash, and you are ready for dune bashing 😀 After the drive just replace it with the original one with the car turned off and key is removed. Light will be still on but don't panic just drive for a minute and it will go off.

The Adaptive Dynamics system continuously monitors the road condition and adjusts the suspension to the optimum settings during both on and off-road driving. It is standard on all supercharged models and an option on others. The braking system has also been upgraded, with the naturally-aspirated car getting brakes based on those found on the old supercharged model, and the new supercharged car sporting new, larger discs and bigger callipers. Enhanced Dynamic Stability Control and Roll Stability Control help keep control of the vehicle in extreme situations. Land Rover’s Terrain Response system has been widely praised in previous vehicles. It is controlled by a knob on the centre console, which can be switched to different terrain settings. The system then adjusts suspension, traction control and other systems to the best settings for that surface.
