That's an easy answer, recharge - how - its up to the resourceful owner means. BUT after seeing this Tesla up close on sand with barely 4 inches of ground clearance my utmost fear was exploding the batteries that are usually placed at the bottom. While doing these climbs it was making a hell of noise from underbody getting lot of beating. He asked me come ride with me and I said no, thank you (as I don't have 9 lives like a cat).

I am waiting for @sertac to accept @Paul Zeitoun on his drive in the same area. I have seen the spirit of cooperation in the drives and why not cooperate so that another desertnaut gets a chance when I'm not bound by timings whether its morning or afternoon. @Rahimdad you can delete me from the volunteer list as I have already joined @Chaitanya D's afternoon drive. The timing suits me well as my wife who just landed after an 11 month break in India will be joining me and I know for sure she will appreciate me for not waking her up at 3 o clock in the morning to join the drive. Hopefully we will have a honeymoon in the desert at night.

@Arman you will have plenty of opportunities to srive in Sharjah considering most of the desert area after Abu Dhabi is Sharjah. I am glad that you have a spot in Dr @Chaitanya D drive, I am still worried about members who have not found a spot yet. I guarantee you that you will enjoy Dr @Chaitanya D drive as I myself have been in a couple of his drives to support, but completely lost myself enjoying behind him as he so generously treated us to some awesome areas. His drives are very well planned and driving behind him gives you a very good chance to forget that you were ever challenged by any things as he smoothly takes you through the roughest of terrain. You only realize after the drive the thrill you had with the least amount of bother. We have plenty of drives every week and once you start learning how to use your alarm better and find some luck, we could be driving in Sharjah again.

For photography I love the area close to Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain, its called the Zakher Lake. Unlike the man-made lakes in Dubai Qudra Area, this is a natural lake, and I enjoy the scene with the lake, the dunes and the mountains all in one shot. The place was even good for visitors earlier as there were some nice gazebos and portable toilets around the area. Sad thing is it was all spoilt and run down with the toilets closed and a stink coming from the lake the last time I visited. There are a nice set of dunes in the area where you can play for an hour or so and is not really a great off-road area, but you can camp out with a short fun filled dune bash and BBQ. The best time of the day to capture some amazing pics would be during sun rise as the sun comes up over the Jebel Hafeet mountain. Here are some photos in our Gallery to wet your appetite.

Hi @Michael Glavanis for photography i would recommend you joining our offroad drives on a regular basis, as we cover Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi areas where there are tons of nice locations. If you see a nice place during the drive, save it as a waypoint in your GPS app so you can revisit with friends and setup the drone or tripod. Once i have a bit more free time, i am planning on posting such kind of drives, stay tuned !

If anyone else is planning to drop out please let me know. There are drives where people are on wiat lists so we would like to be fair. How will this drive differ from others? You're all intermediate drivers. As a result, there is an expectation that you can self recover and if you can't recover and are stuck, that you know what is needed to get moving again. We will be using a buddy system during the drive - each person will make sure that the person in front and behind them is OK and help them out if they are in trouble. While I will likely come back to look and check on your progress, I will be relying on you to get yourselves out of trouble [I will step in if it looks dangerous or you really cannot find the solution] because self revovery is as key an element of being an intermediate driver as being able to get from one dune to the next. BIG change in practice, however. During covid times we used ropes as the key area for recoveries because we wanted to be sure of social distancing and protecting ourselves from the virus. Not that its gone away, but with the rules relaxed, we are going back to getting ourselves out of trouble the traditional way, with shovelling. My advice: make sure you have a good shovel with you, because in most cases, you'll be expected to dig yourself out. Teaspoon owners beware. What is the terrain like? There is a lot of vegetation around in parts of this quadrant, which implies it's not clean wonderful dunes the whole way through. The height of this area is not the attraction, so we will unlikely be scaling massive dunes, but there are long range passes and exciting cross overs that make for an exciting ride for everyone. At the same time, I will keep my promise that we will venture into some treacherous technical dunes, soft sand and areas where your intermediate driving skills will be tested by ther finesse and control of the car. Hello all, One of the reasons I love driving with Carnity is the opportunities I get to see a part of the UAE that is hidden away. The opportunity to take photos, camp and fly my drone. Does anyone have recommendations for locations (preferably not requiring a COVID test) for photography/drone flying. Also is anyone interested in some weekend drives where the focus is on photography and camping so we can wake up in time for that sunset? Thanks, Michael

You will be concentrating on knowing your cars better and improving on how to drive in a very doable terrain - slopes, small to medium dunes, small climbs and some play areas. Hi @Frederic, this is wonderful. I was always looking forward to someone starting a Photography club on Carnity. I am the worst photographer in the world, I can't even get decent pics with a point and shoot camera which has automatic settings to everything. Guess I just get lucky about twice annually to boost my ego and carry on clicking pics. I find photography very confusing, but love to listen to the gurus trying to guide me while I nod my empty head to make them think I understand. Must be frustrating for the photo gurus just like I find it difficult at time when explaining everything to a member while off-roading and he nods and goes about giving full gas when a blip, blip ( @Gaurav (TM)) is required. I am just here to listen to the gurus and hope that something sticks. Please bare with me, as my photography is more like my poetry which should have rhyming words, just keep clicking atleast i have captured something than not having a memory at all.

Thank you @syed salman raza sir for your kind words. I'm am very happy to see lots of members taking this sport as their passion just like mine. I'm happy to see our members and their enthusiasm grow within our competent grading structure. Increasing convoy size brings on many challenges which you might not be able to comprehend at this time. Overall the quality of the drive reduces with a larger convoy size and my capabilities alone cannot be taken into account. We enter as a team and leave the desert as a team. Let's see how the day progresses as I've seen @Arman has already signed up for Dr @Chaitanya D newbie drive and I beleive there are still spaces available there. Our main priority remains to be able to get a drive for all interested members every week while keeping the learning and enjoyment quotient high.

@Michael Glavanis we use an instrument on our drive which can stop the convoy in its tracks. It is called a 2 way radio. If you find a scenery which you really like to shoot, just ask the convoy lead to have a short stop some some pics. Follow the Covid19 guidelines and click to your hearts content. Just like we have bio breaks we could have something like click breaks as well. Just limit the number and don't be stopping the convoy every 5 minutes as that disrupts the movement of the convoy. With more interested members we could have a separate drive which would focus on photography instead of learning how to drive in the sands. I find your feedback very positive and something we can learn from, sure pre-covid19 we were much more lenient, but that does not mean we cannot make a few exceptions as long as the overall drive is not interrupted and Covid19 precautions are followed. We are not police, we are just trying to uphold the law while proving an opportunity to learn off-road driving within the countries laws, we don't want to jeopardize these drives just because we were caught not abiding by the countries rules. With the vaccines out it will be only a matter of time before we can have more flexibility on our drives.

@Rahimdad if you want me to join @Chaitanya D I'm ready if it will give a chance for another driver to enjoy the drive with you. Kindly guide and inform me.

Thanks @Rahimdad i agree that photography can come over as looking complicated and technical, but don't forget the most essential rule of photography: CAPTURING A MOMENT IN ITS ESSENCE The magic of photography is opening your eyes completely, just like a musician would hear so much more things in a song, or a painter sees so many more colors than we do, we need to practice "looking" and finding the soul in objects, situations, or people. Once you have mastered that you will be able to take any cheap camera around and be able to capture a stunning image.

Hi @Jasim Khumi looking forward meeting you and seeing your Pajero The compressor will be needed as we are exiting at the Al Qudra Last Exit gas station which has a compressor but it's been out of service since 4 weeks or more. A compressor for offroad use should have at least 45lpm (liter per minute) air displacement. Anything less you'll see your beard growing by the time all tyres are inflated and most-probably the unit will be smoking hot. * In the 100-150 dhs range you will only find a small compressor (cigarette plug type) which is just barely good enough to "top up" your tyres, but cannot handle inflating 4 tyres from 15 back to 35psi. Better to avoid them if you're planning on offroading every weekend. * From 200dhs onwards Dragon Mart has decent off-road compressors from the Camel Logo brand, either the big single piston model or the double piston model. Do not expect warranty though. * From 400dhs onwards you'll be looking at Bushranger, TJM, Mean Mother, which are dedicated compressor brands that are made for the job. ARB is on the top of the list in terms of price and ruggedness. Have a look at below topic:
