This was an amazing drive today for many reasons. We had an excellent path set by @Simon D on one of his first drives as marshal. Felt like we were in very capable hands with good communication throughout the drive. We also had a good mix of technical, sabkha, sidings, and ridge riding, which I got a lot experience with today. It was good to meet you finally @Varun Mehndiratta and looking forward to driving with you again soon. Thanks @george charbel for making sure no one was left behind. I got to know @Faraz94 @Arravind @Stan @Deepak Eswar. It was also memorable because we actually made 52 kms in observance of the 52nd annual UAE National Day in more or less the same drive time as a normal drive. A testament to the guidance we had and of the caliber of drivers on the convoy. Impressive driving everyone. Finally and not in the least, it just might be my last drive as a Fewbie. I'm applying for Fewbie Plus today after finally being able to get in 10 drives in 6 months. This past year and part of last year was a challenge to keep up with consistent drives but I've done it today and what a great bunch of memories to have had on this one. Dears, the most amazing and wonderful offshore experience that I had until now. Desert, mountains, rain, flash flooding with YAAALAAAAA water is coming, to camping and enjoying each other companies on a beautiful fire, to refusals and challenging soft sand on a 22 psi, to getting crested, recoveries and beautiful sceneries. This experience had everything that you can think of. Thank you so much @Frederic for thinking, planning and doing this amazing ride with chill and professional attitude. Thank you @Srikumar for your guidance support and funny moments, we had a nice combo with you two! Convoy 2 Drive Report : Dear Desert Warriors , @Faraz94 @Arravind @Stan @Ishak @Deepak Eswar @Frans M @george charbel @Emanuel this is the only word i could describe the way you have driven today. we have not only achieved our Goal of 52 KM but also exceeded to reach 69 KM 💪 . We started slowly driving through some easy flat tracks until we have warmed up to start afterwards practicing the ridge riding , criss crossing , then after seeing how well you are doing ,i decided to take you through a patch of technical terrain before we moved to a faster pace and higher dunes to enjoy the long range ridge riding . eventually to finish up we have played a little bit at the end doing some side slopping . you guys, could take what ever challenges i put you through.... Simply you were unstoppable!!! Special thanks to @Varun Mehndiratta for looking over my shoulder and @george charbel for making sure no one is left behind. Finally i would love to Congratulate @DP1011 for his 1st lead drive 🎉 and for inviting me to lead the 2nd convoy Well Done buddy below you could find drive statistics and information

DCT is not considered as 1 regular drive for promotion, let alone the whole level for various reasons: Regular drive instill the course correction of specific skill and give everyone ample time to learn each skill correctly and safely. Regular drive convoy discipline, majorly decides when anyone is ready for the next level or not. Regular drive stuck and refusal are always welcome and encouraged for skill enhancement, rather than fighting gravity excessively or even borderline, which I am sure all DCT participants must have done during that day. My humble advice, is don't rush through the promotions and enjoy every drive to learn off-roading safely, which goes a long way.

Thank You @Simon D & @Varun Mehndiratta for this amazing and beautiful drive. The most amazing thing was the track, which was complimented by the pace of drive. This drive helped me practice more technical areas as well as the ridge riding. Overall, a fantastic experience on a lovely morning 😍🔥🚗 P.S: Thanks @Arravind for keeping an eye on my bumper 😄

Dear Desertnauts sorry for the short briefing, due to my return from a long business trip. I will explain more and be more detailed tomorrow, just before starting. I do encourage all to come with a full tank, as the drive should be quite long (but not enough to need a jerry can). Well done guys, you all rock the recovery today. Apologies @Aidan Kennedy for shouting at times, as left vs right makes a huge difference in these critical angles. Thank everyone else for your patience and support, yes we had a short spin today, but those virgin dunes without any shrubs was totally worth the chance. And we were blessed with great convoy and cars to enjoy those FB dunes at NB pace.

@Gaurav and the rest of the convoy, it is with sincere regret that I need to bow out of this drive. Having been away from the desert for 6 months, I was really looking forward to being out and gazing upon the arrays of solar panels and The Chimney. Alas, urgent medical conditions at home with my partner have forced me to skip out. We could still be there but it would mean my mind would be more fixated on dealing with the passenger in my cabin than with the needs of the convoy and the thrill I had hoped to return to, that too under the sprightly leadership of that stunning silver bullet Pajero. Guess I must wait one more week. Catch you all on the sands very soon. [ 🐵 ]

With radar at the lowest level with 8.9 Inch clearance, will diminish that definition big time. This is as per my quick search online, as I have never seen one in the sand so far. If he is buying for family camping and NB level drive, I think it will be fine but with a lot of caution on descending every dune slowly. Ask him to check if Ford offers one here without Radar and a more off-road-friendly bumper. I may sound old-fashioned, but for off-road use, I will stick with known, proven models rather than betting on a new launch that comes with desert photo shoot marketing material.

Dear Desert Drivers, Yes unfortunately, the end of the drive was a bit abrupt. @Bravoecho hopefully you can soon get back on the sand. Yes, a bit low on the ridge, the track a bit churned, and a combination of early fishtail, one wheel on the other side of the ridge, made the car spin and rotate perpendicular to the ridge, and then the middle of the car got stuck as per your photo, and the car flipped. Thankfully you were unhurt, and congratulations for keeping your positive attitude after the roll. Before that, it was a drive close to perfect, (despite @Gary F's mechanical issue). Nice dunes, unexplored area, beautiful morning light, and a team of very good drivers. The ride was spiced with a few high climbs, a big bowl that was tackled by each of you with determination and control, a special ridge, like descending into the void, and a few others. @Shahid Mehmood, @Waqar Sarwar, congratulations for your first Fewbie Plus, you went through the challenges with great concentration and control. Nathan @Stumpy Paj, thank you for the second lead and support, good to see you with @Bravoecho after a long time, @Lawrence_Chehimi, @Ashutosh Garg, welcome back in the sand, hope to see you in many drives this winter, @Gertjan @Gary F, thank you for watching the back of the convoy.

Thank you @JeromeFJ for a great drive. I was really enjoying it until you know what happened. Looking back through the footage and trying to learn more I have come to the conclusion that when the right rear popped out and the car rotated 90 degrees to the left the right hand side step became a plow and caused the car to roll right. As you can see in the photo below it bent back until it hit the chassis at which point the car’s inertia threw the car over. Apologies for shortening everyone’s drive and thank you once again @JeromeFJ for waiting back until the truck arrived. Will see how fast I can turn around the repairs and get back out on the sand. P.S Still scratching my head how the side mirrors were untouched

Thanks everyone who joined the drive yesterday, it really made me happy to see everyone full of energy and desire to learn and explore. The drive was a mix between long flat drives , some crisscrossing , ridge ridding and of course side sloping. We had also to go through some technical and bushy areas from time to time. But you all did great. Thank @Looper and @Anish S for all your help and support you have provided me . And ofcourse @Joseph Raju for taking care of the stucks and the refusals Looking forward to see you all again soon,

Hi, for this drive, the message states long range patrol's stuff, would a jeep's (392) fuel capacity be an issue?

Hi Ale, I just concluded a Fewbie drive this morning. My xterra has some battery terminal issue, am in garage to sort it out. If all okay I will join this drive. Alternatively, I am seeking permission with my wife to get her car Toyota Fortuner for a drive. If either one works out will join the drive. I shall keep you posted around 4pm. Sorry for the inconvenience.
