  2. Dear Desert Drivers, In preparation for the drive on Saturday morning, please ensure that your car is in top condition. Check and remove any loose item in the back seat and trunk areas. Your off-road equipment shall be securely strapped to avoid flying objects in the cabin in case of jumps of big bumps. I will indicate the convoy order tomorrow by the end of the afternoon. Please let me know before that if you changed your plans. Thank you !

  3. That enormous empty space everywhere you look... It's insane how much larger the desert there is if you come there from Dubai: Everything seems so tiny: But that's what we all came from - it's was well worth to get up early in the morning and drive that far @Aser Happy faces everywhere @PAJERO petelczyc luke @Shaun J: @Ale Vallecchi getting out of any sticky situation: What a drive!

  4. Hi @Gaurav , Julius (the Red Wrangler in my DCT team) did that and sent me his comparison of tires table below. He switched to Cooper AT3 4S (19.5kg per tyre) 285/70/17 for 5 years and still drove in 4L. Recently before DCT he switched to Geolandar P-rated (20.4 kg) 285/70/17 and again still drove in 4L. Told me the reason was "more controlled" but I'm also guessing habits don't change easy With @Naveen Raj confirming he drove in 4H 2nd gear, this confirms both 4L and 4H can climb Nagra (last minutes in https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cy5P6SaJU9s/ ) , so it doesn't matter 4Lo or 4Hi as long as you're confident you can make it

  6. Dear Desertnauts, very few things to mention before the drive. The meeting point will be at Solar Park's Innovation Center (the glass pyramid), where we'll deflate upon arrival and from where will take the sand track down to the Little Sweihan area. We could actually cross the section of dunes between Solar Park and Little Sweihan, but it's become an absolute nightmare, with grass, bushes, small trees, and lots of bumps. At the tip of the Little Sweihan dunes we'll start following the waypoint, trying to "draw" the dragon shape in the sand. It may be a little tricky at times, as we'll have to cross both through the hard and slip faces of the dunes. The convoy order at the moment is the following: @Gautam Banka in Second Lead @Renier Venter at #3 @Julien Recan at #4 @lucas amat at #5 @Arravind at #6 @Pacific in the Center @frederic demolder at #8 @Bravoecho at #9 @Robk at #10 and @Stumpy in Sweep. See you all tomorrow, a few minutes before the scheduled meeting time. Thanks for joining.

  7. DRIVE DESCRIPTION 14th Feb - Valentines day also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is celebrated annually on February 14 . It originated as a Christian feast day honouring a martyr named Valentine and through later folk traditions, it has also become a significant cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world. The day became associated with romantic love in the 14th and 15th centuries when notions of courtly love flourished, apparently by association with the "lovebirds" of early spring. In 18th-century England, it grew into an occasion for couples to express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). Valentine's Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. What better than starting the day, with your partner on this Couples only Drive. This drive is a highly likely chance to have your partner's permission renewed for a reasonable period of weekend desert drives - thanks to you - that your partner will be happy to start the day with you, while moving swiftly through Lisaili dunes, with a romantic view of those Hot air balloons in sight and a beautiful sunrise. Please note : This will be strictly a on time start and on time end - The idea is more to gather as a group, have a relaxed drive, take a break for coffee/muffins, have some photos clicked and then head back to start point to be able to exit on time. 9. @JeromeFJ's entry point is Ramlah Sweihan Bowls Bowls Bowls Strip... it will be a good area to test 4Lo vs 4Hi ... also I just installed Mopar original beadlock wheels for the Cherokee (got them for free so can't refuse installing them ) - I might try climbing in 4Lo with 6 psi 😅

  11. Switched to Geolanders LT tires same as @Bravoecho Still on stock rim’s so the max size I could fit was LT285/70 R17 weight is about 24kg and I find they like being around 9psi . Geolander specs I noticed a huge difference in performance but that was compared to BF Goodrich mud terrains.

  13. Used kumho 285*70/R17 on my JL 2 door rubicon, climbed the tall dunes like Nagra and Mohd Ali Dune on 4h auto in 2ng gear with ease, my sweet spot is 9psi..Recenlty upgraded to cooper At3 which is tad lighter than kumho and feels overall improvement in grip and control.

  15. Let's compile a list of toxic or unsafe plants (fruit or shrubs) found in the UAE Desert while offroading. Desert lemon-looking plants are called Desert Squash (Citrullus colocynthis) (Handhal). https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-798/colocynth

  16. https://www.purdue.edu/hla/sites/famine-foods/famine_food/citrullus-colocynthis/ Yes @Gaurav there is some research on rajasthani version of this plant called " tumba" to use as famine food... There is another very common plant of desert which is highly poisons called "aak".. we should be careful.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calotropis_gigantea. @Gaurav agree not to encourage touching any unknown plant which may be toxic and ruin our experience.. Thanks
