Wow! This is incredibly helpful @Rizwanm2. Thanks so much for sharing. I could potentially mount a lightbar in this crevice too by cutting away the plate mount. Would just need to move the plate to the side or get one of those small ones 🤔

I did the same but for me there was no cutting involved. There was number plate bracket i removed it completely and stick number plate to the bumper.

    this is the switch panel.

  2. hey @munkybizness  The most powerful light i have it is on my front bumper. its 21 inch latest LED laser technology by Tobies  its much slimmer than the older version and its much brighter as well.

also i have installed 2 amber lights inside front grill with some modification and 2 side shooters on the hood and 1 small light at rear roof.

These are not expensive lights, but it does the job and im happy with performance.

Very much deserved @Rizwanm2 ! I still remember you coming to the drives with the Nativa: always ready to help and always eager to learn more. Now that you have the ultimate off-road machine there’s no stopping now 😀

Ha ha.. Thank you fred, I cant forget my first drive. you helped me deflate and i ended up stuck on first dune itself cos i was in 2WD. 🤣

    That's very strange to hear.

Have you checked the reasoning why they would revoke the warranty if its staying inside the car than under the hot sun? Staying in AC should be more compressor friendly to prolong its usable life.....!

when hard wiring the compressor most people might ignore or overlook the capacity of the wire used for the extension. if underrated wire is used it will easily fry the compressor.

i hard wired my chinese dual compressor using industrial grade 15mm welding wires. still running strong for more than 1.5 years now.

  7. Thank you @Frederic for a perfect night drive. it was short convoy and we had maximum fun.  Except @Farook Veettil everybody was on time at the meeting point deflated and flagged. after long time we had our drive brief on ground with social distance and we were out in the desert by 8.10 PM.  about 45 mins into the drive we heard some scattered voice over the radio calling for fredric, strange enough it was not any one from our convoy. Then only I figured out the ghost who calling for Fredric was farook who arrived at the meeting point late. Sorry mate you might have mixed up with the timing hence arrived late.

we covered almost 50 km in pitch-black desert covering some technical dunes and long hill climbs including Faya.

@Lakshmi Narasimhan it was nice meeting you for the first time and needless to say,  you were perfect behind Fredric as second lead of the convoy.

Behind Lakshmi was @Savio Fernandes in his Y62 patrol, you did great considering its your first night drive. There were couple of stuck mostly when crossing the dunes, you ended up in crested position. i understand it is scary sometimes to cross a dune with enough speed especially when its dark and you cant see anything. We all been there once, hence don’t worry you will master it in no time.

@munkybizness you did great behind savio, I see lot of improvements in your driving compared to previous night drive I had with you. Also thank you very much for your support in recoveries. Hope i didn't blind you this time since you had your sunglasses on 😎 ...

Have a nice weekend guys, hope to see you all soon.

275 would also make it more heavy and prone to rubbing the fender, so i would advise to go for the 265/70/16 AT. Wider tyres are not necessarily better in offroading.

265 vs 275 is wider so i guess the inner bead width of the tyre also wider hence dont you think it will have more outward pressure to the rims when deflated. so less chance of popout.

Even if it pop out for some reason, it will be much easier to fix as tyre itself will fix to the rim without much effort.

I have seen and experienced difficult pop out fixing due to smaller tire size or bigger rim size.

But rubbing issue due to bigger tire needs to be verified.

BTW when i change my xterra tyres i went from 265 (stock size) to 275 no problem what so ever. zero pop out till date for almost 1 year.

  9. as a Xterra owner i would rate it next to FJC due to its performance, reliability and bang for bucks.

You get proper 4 doors and its much roomier than FJC. but due to rear leaf springs its bit bumpy for rear passenger.

Btw im talking about 2nd gen Xterra as in my profile pic not the latest 2020 model.

    @samamara i know its now more confusing. 😆 😂

    good luck with your search.

Rizwan I have the same observation but I heard it from other drivers driving Nissan y62 with factory tires that their actual Speedo meter are showing less by 10% of the actual speed . So I don’t know really if the difference in tire size makes this although it’s minimal as per the chart you showed !

i think speed measuring from google maps is not accurate as speedometer.  but dont no how to check it.

anyway im not worried as far as im not getting speeding fine. 👍

  11. 26 minutes ago, Thomas Varghese said:

If you check your speed with google maps you will be surprised to find that when you are coasting at 140km/hr as per speedometer your actual speed is only 130km/hr. This error happens because the wider tires alter the aspect ratio as both tires have 70 as aspect height ratio. So its not surprising your car is not getting speed radar flashes when you are coasting at 140 km/hr as originally you are only doing 130 to 131 km/hr. Your car will only get a flash from speed radar if your speedo shows above 150km/hr.

i thought if we increase the tire size actual speed will increase, 🤔

as per below its very minimal only 2.9kmph more at 150kmph

Thanks @M.Seidam. My confusion was the size too and you have cleared it. Stock is 265/70/16 and my present tires are 275/70/16. The only problem I experienced with the wider tire is the speedo is off by 10%. Plus the petrol mileage. Maybe more experienced drivers can clear this doubt.

    Hi @Thomas Varghese

looks like you guys had nice fun drive. Btw Im also using yoko Geo G015  275/70/R16 no problem at all.  Even my speedo is accurate i have tried up to 140kmph on dot no speeding fines till date. 😛  let me know if you need sales contact from juma al majid for yoko tires.
