After having lots of trouble with my Jeep, i got my lesson. Lesson was find the cleanest car possible and dont accept any fault and any change from the original. It was very hard man in this country there is no clean car. I actually wanted to buy a W211 E class. but i couldnt find anything worth to buy. Then i saw this car, this was the car my wife always asking. Price was above my budget but i said what i will loose if i ask owner to give it for the price on my mind. I drove the car and check it. Than wolla she accept the price and here we are. She was the first owner from 2009, all services has been done by Gargash and stamped to the book. No accident, no paint even no single scratch on the car.

I think a good analogy would be restaurants. Any restaurants that offer a ton of dishes on the menu usually at best do an OK job at all of them. But there are speciality restaurants that offer only a certain type of dishes, it also not uncommon to see a place offering only one dish, that's right just one dish but they do that one dish perfectly. Same with medicine you go to certain specialists for certain aliments. A general practitioner can only diagnose and treat common problems for anything else you are referred to a specialist. There is a reason why the saying A jack of all trades master of none.came about. Not all cars are built the same or use the same parts or tech. Ok an internal combustion engine works on a certain principle, transmissions, brakes etc etc also a capable mech can handle basics, but not every detail of everycar. .

When it comes to knowing about cars in uae, not many people are interested. It’s all about paying the smallest price. I have always had problems finding work as a mechanic here. It’s like oh, you’re white, sorry we can’t afford you. None of them even asked how much I wanted. I have done low paying jobs in shitty backstreet garages here but it’s hard to get into. The higher end garages have offered me jobs in the office. I’m not an office guy. Fixing cars is my passion. If I can share some of what I know online and help some people and try to cancel some of my bad karma then I’m happy.

Or it's maybe the other way around, that people who ask your salary has low figures and to cut the conversation people at high salaries reply with half or even a quarter of their salary. No matter how big or small your salary is, it is never enough due to the life we pull along with that numbers and love to cry thereafter. At a very early age, I have been jobless in this country for 9 months, and realize the true importance of money and savings + started valuing real friends than the bunch of imposters. HI Guys By next year January i will be leaving UAE for good . I got my PR for Canada . So me and my family will be moving there. It has been an awesome time being part of Carnity group when i was here , i even enjoyed the few times i got chance to go for desert drives. Special thanks to @Gaurav sir and @Rahimdadf sir for the teachings of 4X4 ing and other car related stuff teachings . For the rest of you all , i would like to thank from from the bottom of my heart for all the advice and support , however small it might be ,it was always been a great help in my life journey, As i embark on my next step , i still do hope to keep my Carnity account active so that i can see all the desert drive pics u guys upload.and in turn hopefully try to share my Canadian Adventures here too , if it possible Thank you guys for being awesome all the time , BTW i am trying to sell my car . I am with Oman insurance for third year now. When i was trying to claim no accident discount in second year, they wouldn't give me. But as of this year it is mandatory for insurance companies to provide no accident discount - they did give it to me. So far no issues with them but i didn't have any accidents to check how trustful they are.

This one is sure to throw the cat into the pigeons. If someone says they only work on one particular make or model, or cars from a certain country, I’d say they aren’t a good technician. Sure, you can stick to one marque and know it inside you but if you have to work on something else you won’t have a clue outside basic mechanical knowledge. This is why I don’t trust any garages who are Japanese only, German only etc. A good tech should be able to fix anything. Opinions?

Thank you Sir . I Too hope to buy a 4x4 once i settle there . i have 2 models in mind to buy , Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado or Jeelp Wrangler. Lets see what life has in store 4 me . i would to get suggestion on anyother models if any .I definitely dont want the Big SUV/ Pickups like F150 etc. Thank you sir , I sure will Upload My adventures there

when a customer comes to me with any car i first of all try to understand the concern and then if i can do it then take the car in and believe me i have had a hell of a time sometimes diagnosing the fault i also have some contacts with whom i also discuss the problems and all in all its a very small car no fix return rate.... if you understand the mechanism and have the diagrams of wiring then there should be no problem to solve it and usually we get stuck at the programing side or the codings in vag cars thats almost always outsourced that way i don't have to funk up funny dollars in subscription fees for only a specific car that comes in say 4 or 5 times a year... i have had single cylinder bikes to rolls royce at my shop... in short i agree with @Barry on this one....

I tend to disagree with @Barry on this. No good (read, professional) technician can fix anything, and nor should he try. It may be true that most automotive technologies are common to all cars, but there are sometimes vast differences in how some technologies are implemented on different makes- two examples being the way PID's are set up differently for ABS brakes and active suspension systems between cars of European, American, and Japanese manufacture. Having made a very good living out fixing peoples' cars for nearly forty years, I can confidently say that there is no way one person can know everything about these differences, and in my opinion a technician who says that he can fix anything, should be treated with a good measure of circumspection.

Actually, I once had a total loss claim in car under Oman Insurance. They quoted all the fine print which was like about 10% depreciation in the first couple of months and then some additional 5% once it crossed over to the third month. So basically on a car valued at AED 35k approx I received about AED 26-27k, 4 months after taking the insurance. And it took them a good 3-4 weeks to process the payment after the total loss. So for me Union and Oman Insurance are at the same level. You want better service go for RSA or AXA.

It’s only rare because people accept it. And sadly it will never change.

Congrats on a nice and a fancy ride, big league changer from sheep barn. In my opinion, it's better to stick to Oman, RSA and AXA if a premium is just 100-200 dhs difference, as this tad extra premium will pay you many times in case you claim insurance and also when you cancel insurance to get pro-rata refund without any questions or tons of follow up.

Who knows what the Renault drivers were smoking when they dreamed this up. I know a few Renault employees in France and most of them spend their days drinking red wine and smoking hashish. Someone had the bright idea to cut the rear passenger seat out and drop in a 2.9 v6 engine coupled to a 6 speed manual box. 3 different models were built, the king having 285 bhp. An insane amount of horsepower in such a tiny car. These cars were produced is small numbers and many were written off due to inexperienced drivers. Original examples command a high premium now.

What a pleasant surprise to hear from you @baselsm83, almost every second drive I and Rahim bhai discuss about you and also ask Noor whenever he joins. After so many daredevil drives you are not a newbie anymore and you have been awarded "Intermediate" grade as per new off-road structure created by Rahimdad. To be honest all you need is 1 or 2 drives to refresh everything and get back your confidence. Looking forward to seeing you on the drives.

MAF sensor code is irrelevant in this case. It’s a symptom, not a cause. The wrong airflow from the throttle body is causing the MAF sensor to report a problem. There’s a few possible causes for this. The throttle stepper motor is faulty, the wiring to the throttle stepper motor is faulty, there is a loose wiring plug on the throttle stepper motor wiring or the most unlikely, the ecu is faulty. Because you can scan codes, I will assume you have some technical knowledge. The first thing you need to do is make sure the throttle body is clean. And I mean surgically clean. The tiniest bit of dirt can jam it. After cleaning, you need to use your computer to do the idle relearn procedure. Depending on your computer, it can be incredibly simple and is just a matter of following the instructions on screen. Then get someone to push the throttle pedal and see if their action correlates to the movement of the throttle butterfly If that doesn’t fix it you need to physically inspect the wiring loom for breaks. These could be anywhere. Especially where the loom rubs against something else. Check the connections. Both at the throttle body and throttle pedal. Contact cleaner spray is your friend. Check the voltage at the plug connecting to the throttle body. If it’s good and goes up and down when the pedal is operated, there’s a good chance the stepper motor is faulty and needs replaced. Always check the wiring before spending money on components. Remember that after touching anything on the system, cleaning, removing and refitting plugs etc, the idle relearn procedure is required. Especially on a Nissan. They are very sensitive to stuff like this. These are a few things you can try yourself which can fix it. If you aren’t competent, further investigation will require a proper technician. And I mean a proper technician, someone who actually knows about cars, not one of the cheap mechanics in rashidiya or Sharjah industrial area. If in any doubt, show this advice to your mechanic. Don’t accept ok ok for an answer. This is the proper process.

For whom interested. Report from Al Aweer; It was big disappointment for me. I spent 2 hour there i saw as much car i can saw in 2 hour. - Cars are really in low km but 75.000km car looking like 200.000km car. -Steering leather is bad, missing/cracked interior parts. -Many of the car when you start there is warning on the screen. Most of the car i saw need costly maintenance after purchase. -There was 2 white E350 when i sit inside i said ok this is the one it was really clean but both of the car AC is bad. I dont know what kind of cost is there. -Most of the cars are sitting there more than 6 month even sellers are saying there is no buyer in the market. -Most of the cars have out of date tire, you need to change it for passing. Only i like one BMW 525 it was having 37.000km and it was really clean but i have doubt regarding the reliability of BMW. If i approach these car the way i approached to my old Cherokee i would immediately buy one. Some of them have AMG body kit some of them have Hamman kit, Brabus kit they are attracting you. I drove one of E350 it was very silent and comfortable car. Everyone is saying buy fresh from Aweer i am thinking buying a car used in Dubai is better than the from Aweer at least the first owner will finished all the maintenance required and price also will be down. Many of the shops are not giving you passing warranty. I can say they are open for negotiation first they are saying this is last price i will loose etc. Then when i lay down check the underneath they understand i am real buyer. When i said sorry i cant buy. Price is more than my budget, they start saying i will talk with my boss we will arrange it to your budget. What i am thinking is this place is not for a simple person like me. If you are someone who understand these cars professionally you can find something good and you need to spend all they there. For me i spent 2 hour and i was judging like is there any rust on the body panels, underneath and is there anything bad in the interior.

There is always two sides of the coin, I believe in a special or at least different cars like German, UK, and European brand one should stick to their level of expertise as those cars are truly made differently instead of using Philp screws, they use star screws at a very base level. You wouldn't want to take that car with Jap or Korean specialist who will hammer the screwdriver in star crew and force open it. Trust me I have seen such car mechanics in UAE. Apart from the base level of screws shape, they do have different engineering and if a mechanic is not well aware then it will blow up your bill. I remember having a Land Rover Discovery bit of death wobble at certain speed. First look with my usual Jap specialist gave me a long bill of diagnosing of checking everything to anything. Then with a bit of Dr. Google help, I realize it's a driveshaft U-joint that freaks out if it's not greased well in time. Bought that for 35 dhs and got it changed with a labor of 50 dhs and car was perfect in 85 dhs than huge bill of diagnosis. It's a rare find, to be honest at least in this part of the world.
