Unfortunately when genuine people like us need a proper mod to be done with all safety consideration we are sent back without permission. And just because some people are in a certain position and get permission they do these over the top mods where it catch fire after a roll like that. The roll is simply because this dude has mod the vehicle beyond his control. He was trying to throw some sand by trying to drift, but there was too much weight on the front left tire and no counter steer, thus the flip.

It was probably the best drive of the whole year so far. Asif bhai thanks for wonderful planning and amazing lead - fast pace + full of action in some of the best dunes in the UAE. Although I was very tired from whole day drive and lack of sleep, still wishing for more towards the end as it was the best drive we have had in a long time with the fast-moving convoy and exceptional drivers. Very well said everyone and good points highlighted. @Rahimdad this seems like a motorsport highly modified Patrol and not street legal one, that's why there is no hood and number plate. And after the impact, you can see the huge intercooler in front and it might be having twin turbo's from the sound it seems. They must be making to Faya on the trailer for testing for a desert challenge. We have seen similar highly modified 4x4's practicing but not all catches fires nor flip. Here the main reason for flip was to create a sand fountain for the spectators. Here is my list of observation from this video: Creating sand fountain for the spectators Driving in two wheels to have a sand fountain Excessive acceleration while going downhill and in 2WD to have the biggest sand fountain Fishtailing to continue the splash and eventually losing the control and causing a flip "Maybe" using special fuel that caused the fire after the flip "Maybe" boosted the turbo to the max to cause the explosion after the flip Lesson to take away for all "REGULAR" offroaders: Never climb or descend the dune in 2WD If still car fishtail, slow down and counter steering Never do excessive acceleration while coming down Have fun splashing the sand or do donuts in 2WD but on a flat ground Always drive RTA approved modifications as safety is paramount than a little bit of fun Please feel free to add any more reason/lessons if I have missed any.

I have been driving since past 11 years in the UAE. Listing in order from best to worse, used in both my cars. Amaron > Trane > Solite > Zeetex> AC delco.... AC delco would always retire in exactly 13 months.

Our resident mech Saleem is not in favour of anything with a bit of style and not made in Japan, surprised he didnt try to change your mind to go for a corolla or sunny instead so take his advice with a grain of salt. IMO Merc would be a better choice since its more common and more bits and bobs including after market available for the Merc, also generally Mercs are said to be more reliable than Audis. Although A4 is a better looking and more snazzier car IMO at the end of the day. Get what make you happy, you only live once. Test drive a few examples of both and see which one you like better and go for that. What would you rather have a smile on your face everyday or a few extra coins in your pocket.

MUT is a different communication protocol from OBD2. The pin layout, baud rate etc are different. OBD2 was introduced as standard in 1996 but japan didn’t introduce it as standard until 2000. It is possible to make MUT equipped cars communicate with an OBD scanner but it needs different leads and programming. Basically it’s a pain in the butt if you don’t have the equipment. You might be able to do the paperclip and flashing light method, I’m not sure but it works on Subaru. I remember plugging your Pajero in for the first time and connecting straight away. You also told me another garage wanted extra money to build a new lead to scan pajeros. Their computer must have been from a ford model t. This is why you need to keep your electronic diagnostic equipment up to date. I wasn’t using anything fancy at the time, it was a launch mini tablet. Even the newer phone apps are capable of reading MUT now, I think torque app is compatible. All this technology eventually filters down to the end user if you have patience to wait. If you want a proper diagnostic system, just buy the one I have. It will cost you 3,000 Dhs but it will be the best 3,000 Dhs you ever spent. You can read codes from any car and you also have the added bonus of programming functions, ie adding features that were paid extras like needle sweep on startup, closing windows with the remote etc. depending on the car. There is a lot of money to be made from switching random 0 to 1 and upgrading cars. The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t play with fuelling parameters and remap the car but that’s a totally different ballgame. You should drop by one day after work and have a play with this.

Maxiscan is a nice little tool. I’ve had a couple over the years as backups. IIRC you can display graphs on them which is useful. You can get adaptor leads for them for cars with different connectors like old Mercedes and BMW. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have Bluetooth. I plugged one into a Peugeot with a bad ECU and it fried the IC in the scan tool. Definitely better than any phone app I’ve tried though. Look on eBay for Delphi diagnostic software. You can get the CD ROM for around $10 and a Bluetooth dongle for around $40. You’ll have to use your laptop but it’ll open up a whole new world for you. I have the latest Launch X431 with all the adapters for literally every car. Anyone who is interested is welcome to come and have a play with it.

I googled a lot. Then on one Australian forum I found the same problem that I faced. To diagnose the MAF sensor it was suggested to disconnect the connector connected to it. I did the same, the car started normally, but with a high idle at 1200 rpm and was not stopping when I let go the throttle. In order to be sure, drove to a used car parts shop and checked by swapping with another MAF sensor. Started and found all OK. Reset the CEL by disconnecting the battery. Drove about 300km, so far it's running OK.

Can't help much cos of the traffic, any car would be using a lot of fuel at stationary traffic. I own a camry 2005 v4 model, american specs. Full tank costs 150dh and drives about 530-560kms in city mixed with highway. But only highway rides go up about 100kms totaling at about 650kms on a full tank. I have tried various fuel injectors and they have only given about a 50-60kms bonus. I tried 95 and 98 petrol but didn't get a noticeable difference on the 98. Tyre pressure is quite important and ofcourse your own driving style matters a lot as said above.

You know this limited number supercar thing is a bit of scam to make their car seem a bit more rarer so they can up the price. Every since vinwiki came out people have been tracking cars by their vin numbers and almost always more cars are counted than the manufacturer said they will produce. I think La Ferrari is one of the biggest culprit of that.

I bought this to see if there is any code and to be able to remove the check engine light. Since i sold the jeep i didnt need it so i cannot say it is good or bad but it looks good.

Mercedes is better. Till now i experienced 6 different Mercedes one of them was 2013 C180 very reliable and good build cars.

You don't even need to buy a scanner. There are some pretty nifty apps available that can be used with smart phones, and although I would not use one of these apps to diagnose serial communication issues on Flexray or even common CAN bus systems, most of these apps are good for simple fault code extraction.

Have a diagnostic reader plugged in and see what codes its throwing, then take it from there, from described symptoms could be anything from a dead dying MAF sensor, IAC valve to janky ignition coils. Avoid any place that starts to instantly throw parts at it without getting a diagnosis first. Om a side note everybody nowadays should have diagnostic readers in their toolkit. They have become pretty cheap now. Form a couple of 100dhs for specific car brands to 30-50dhs for a generic obdII reader

That is right Barry but end of the day you have loved ones to take care of. right way or the highway ain't gonna do that it's better to show them the way of what can be done and let them call the shots that way I still go home with bread and butter in hand.

Nail. On. Head. The majority of people don’t care if the problem gets fixed, they just want the CEL turned off for the lowest price. If you won’t do it, somebody else will. I miss working on cars full time sometimes but on the other hand, selling your soul for 50 dhs here and there just isn’t worth it when it comes to your integrity. My dad's GMC ran on the original AC Delco battery for close to 8 years. Guess the AC Delco batteries that come with car are different from what is available locally. Local ones are produced in Saudi Arabia.
