Trip Report. What a magical day. Started with a sprinkle of rain. Reached to the meeting point to find everybody waiting. Great to see such enthusiasm and energy. After our newbie brief we headed to the deflation point. Once the convoy numbering was assigned we were off. The new comers and first timers were absolutely putting everything briefed in to practice. After a couple of refusals we tried to move but had to stop as one of the cars was having a slight issue. The car was safely guided back to the road and the owner joined Emmanuel to learn from the passenger seat. We started again and the weather kept us very comfortable. As we slowly but steadily made it towards Pink Rocks, we came across a few camels. Not to disturb them from their breakfast we parked our cars at a distance and started to walk towards them. They were gracious to accept us in their terrain and after a few hugs, pets and selfies we were back to our cars and headed to the base of Pink Rocks. As we came close to the Pink Rocks we could see and hear the roaring engines of those playing on the Pink Rocks. Eventually we made it to the base and settled down. I should thank everybody for some amazing breakfast, looked better than what the camels were having and surely tasted wonderful. As we came to the end of our breakfast everyone was quick to help pack up. At this point we headed to the top of Pink Rocks, everybody made it to the top which is commendable for first timers and newbies. We headed out in a slightly more challenging track which bought us out to 2nd December Cafeteria which was closed for Friday prayers. With a little helping hand we could inflate all the cars. At this point we headed back home, or Friday prayers for the Muslims. And @Emmanuel, @Srikumar and I headed to Al Faqa area for the afternoon drive. This is a perfect example of how to recover side stuck in sand dunes with utmost safety and precision. Everyone is clear from the stuck vicinity and recording or taking the pictures away from the rope radius so that if tow point or shackles fail it won't hit anyone and injure/kill them. In a hard tug situation, one should use dampers or additional rope assist to absorb the shock if any tow point fails. Positioned the car right behind the way of the stuck car And not diagonally that can result in a flip with a sudden jerk Clear communication and repeat message before giving the tug Both the driver should be ready than an unexpected tug that may break bones Stretch the rope fully and always give a gentle tug "first" on side stuck Gentle tug "first" will always tell you how hard you can go next time than giving the hard tug first. This precision comes with experience and maturity than just giving the full throttle tug Repeat the message again for the second tug to prepare the driver Perfect safety message for the stuck driver, to update the recovery status so he can be ready for second tug Repeated second tug by changing the path slightly to get better traction Many offroaders will dig themselves on the second tug due to not changing the path. This slight change in path helps to get the firm sand to have better traction. Well done @Emmanuel for recovering @Julien V in the best and safest possible way.

BMW Road Sharjah Car Parts is probably the biggest auto parts market in Asia, at least that's what I have been told from my old mechnic who lives behind just behind the BMW road. After so many years I spend in Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah I still meet people asking me "Where is Sharjah BMW Road Spare Parts" as they can't really find it on google maps or any navigation system anymore. Just a little background that BMW road named after the AGMC showroom used to be there some 20 years ago and now that showroom moved from Sharjah Industrial Area 1 to Sharjah Industrial Area 12, but name has been living so strong that everyone expect you to remember and know that place automatically. Little comic but this shows that this name has some magic for all car parts dealer and auto workshop in that area and they happily using it since two decades. Just for new people reference you can find almost any car brand new spare parts in Sharjah BMW road and just behind that road you have tons of low cost workshop where you can get your spare part fixed too. Many spare part shops in bmw road even hand you there own mechnaic reference who can fix the part immediately. BMW Street Sharjah is like heaven for any car owner to get the car repaired with brand new original spare part at 30-40% discounted rates and get it installed also on same time. All the car spare part shops on Sharjah BMW Road offer major discounts as per the original rates from dealer and that's why they become so popular and competitive that each shop fights the competition with 1-5 dhs difference. Reason they get almost 40% discount from dealer as they bulk purchase the parts and retail to end user at a substantial discount. Sad reality of this area is not all spare part shops are selling original parts and some are selling fake parts too, so if you spot a huge price difference you should ask: Is it original or Tejari (fake) and see his face color changes and run away. In some cosmetic parts you might compromise with fake parts as they are not critical for your car or for your safety and you end up saving big amount, but on imp spare parts and consumale items you should never compromise for falke parts. As per the recent interest from a lot of Fewbies, who want to see what lies in the intermediate level, so joining this fewbie+ level drive will give you a perfect opportunity to enjoy "almost" intermediate level drive that will be paced according to the convoy response. Area 53 is the most versatile area in the UAE offroading scene, that offers beautiful tall rolling dunes with plenty of opportunities for side slopping, ridge cutting, and long hill climbs. How do you guys do Salik recharge? I don't use Salik much and that's why I am always afraid of forgetting to top up via Emirates Bank online payment. Can we possibly link to a bank account or credit card for auto pay? Also if paid by credit card, do we get cash back too as a discount on Salik recharge?

I think BMW road must be having more than 500 car spare part shops and workshop in that area includng those in gullies inside. Any clue wht is the new name of this road now?

I like motley crue. Never been a huge fan but I like them. The Dirt was just released on Netflix yesterday. One of the most entertaining things I’ve seen in a long time. Way more fun than Bohemian Rhapsody but I know it won’t get the same publicity. If you get a chance, watch it. Since watching, I’ve downloaded all their albums and I’m tripping on them. Good band. Just got whitewashed because of the whole hair metal thing. Fun fact. Metallica were originally meant to be signed to elektra records. They decided to sign motley crue instead. Ok deal but someone missed out there.

I pay Salon through my ADCB app on my mobile, takes me only a few seconds to log in and pay. I get my ADCB touchpoints for every transaction.

Why do these limitations apply only to SUV's? Sedans and hatchbacks also have to conform to strict safety regulations, and yet they don't all look alike.

Well on BMW road you can find spare parts for any car brand and not noly BMW

I use the RTA app.

True, i went for my regular maintenance of my BMW to one of the workshops behind BMW road (Sree BMW shop). I brought the car for maintenance and every time a part needed to be replaced they sent their guy on a bicycle to go and source the parts in the same street I've spent quite some long hours already there sipping chai.....

I use the "Dubai Now" app that is basically gathering all Dubai apps. Select the category "driving" and you can recharge and top-up your account in a matter of seconds. Payment goes via my credit card or Apple Pay.

Add to that the wind-tunnel performance and strict safety regulations that basically puts these companies in a very tight box.

I have done an auto recharge with a debit card. This is done through Salik website

True that's the future now, creativity is limited to individual company shapes, lines, and arc only

Initially, I thought what a diff topic, but after reading half way I understood the actual reason. Well long back I went to see one car and the seller brag that if you buy my car I'll share a secret place from where you can maintain car by 50% discounted rates and I was like yeah I know BMW road Sharjah spare parts...lolol. Trip report. Thank you @Emmanuel for graduating yourself within the club to be able to post what turned out to be an amazing place to discover. While you graduated through the different levels you have bought in many ideas and inputs to improve the experience of the new comers. Congratulations to @Javier M for graduating to the next level to enjoy this drive and thank you and Ramon for bringing your A game. Thank you to @Gaurav and @Srikumar for the support. A big thank you to @Asif Hussain bhai for joining us and giving us company. As we met on time and experiencing a little rain on the way to the deflation point our hearts were racing with what was in store for us. Upon reaching the deflation point we were briefed well by @Emmanuel and started towards the start of a fantastic day ahead. Sorry, after being put in second lead after a long time I was waiting for everybody to move before I did and someone had to tell me to move behind Emmanuel. As we started it was like a Veloceraptor was released from its cage. We had a good mix of some really fast paced drive through some gorgeous dunes and some really big dunes we could play on. Somehow we finished the first session on time to head out for Friday prayers and grab a quick bite. If the first round was an appetizer, round two was the main course and desserts combined. It was even more quicker in pace even after 2 pop outs and a few stucks we were able to cover so much more and loved every moment. As the sun coming down we were trying to find a suitable stop to camp for the night. We finally found a reasonable bowl in which we settled. As we settled we found two challenges, the wind due to which we couldn't set our tents and the passing drizzle which made it difficult to get the BBQ going. But @Javier M and Ramon didn't let the spirits dampenand got the BBQ going. Great preparations for both food and drinks along with music. Had to sleep in the car, but the best sleep ever with a great wake up call. After a quick brush of the teeth it was the wonderful breakfast provided by @Emmanuel and @Gaurav. In conclusion have to admit didn't feel like going home after the brilliant day out with such wonderful people in some amazing dunes.

Congrats Emmanuel on your first officially posted drive. I'm all in to eat French Macrons, a lovely area selected and a good choice for debut drive.

Thx @Gaurav for these very clear and important explanations. If I may add another point regarding safety : before pulling the car, please check that nobody stands or goes around (always keep in mind that a rope, a shackle or a recovery hook can break).
