We went for a beach camping last year. Drove to the port of Khasab and asked one of the fishermen to take us to one of the nearby beaches along the coastline. Was in the area of below coordinates: 26°12'35.4"N 56°16'21.7"E * Beware to arrange your visas online, as the visa on arrival option has been stopped. * Most fishermen only speak arabic. We luckily had a friend with us that spoke it very well. * You will need to have ownership papers of the car when crossing the border. If it's under leasing or different owner you will need to arrange a POA form, and even then it's sometimes a bit of a hassle. * You will need to have Oman coverage in your insurance and prepared to show this paper at the border. If not you'll need to buy insurance at the border (takes a bit of time during busy periods) https://evisa.rop.gov.om/ * Definitely take water slippers because the beaches have pebbles and sharp stones. We had a fantastic time and saw the magical show at night called the fytoplankton. It emerges during certain times of year but you will only see it at night when you move your hand in the water, or just at the shoreline. @Javier M I am not big on mods and always prefer my car in as much stock condition as possible. However I don't hate mods and do like some tastefully done mods which enhance to look or performance of the car. I hate the over the board Fatwa mods with lights everywhere, excessive stickers, and stick on chrome that just looks shining ugly. Thanks for starting such an interesting thread, would like to see what everybodies preferences are.

Maybe the adjuster screw just isn’t working? I have a proper headlight beam setter tool in the shop if you need some help setting it up properly.

Just came across this, man what a simple and beautiful idea to watch the night sky without having to go to the middle of nowhere to see it. Wish they did this somewhere here to. a certified dark sky city.

Hello! Just in case you are looking for some astrophotos taken in the UAE 😃 True, it is not that easy to find a place here without light pollution but it is not impossible. We can find it in a deep desert or in some mountains in RAK

I am more of a function over form guy and doesn’t like to to too many mods to a car because you lose the money twice, you spend it, and in most cases your resale value drops more if not done properly. a good audio setup is indeed a must for me for a daily driver. I prefer to spend my cash on proper maintenance and upkeep of the car.

Effective audio setup is what i look for. Decent speakers,sub-woofer and amp will definitely keep me entertained. Exterior wise i like to upgrade the rims(no change in size) to deep dish alloys or concave ones apart from this i prefer my car has to be in stock condition. Chrome everywhere and shoddy modifications such as weird body kits a big no no for me.

You should wait for Friday and see, it is a joy following the velociraptor in this area, you can actually tell he is enjoying by the way he drives.

Use what it says to use in the owners manual. Using something else might save you 50-100 dhs now but it could result in a 3,000 dhs rebuild next year. Dont just rely on the thickness, ie 85w90, check the other specs of the oil and see if they’re suitable to your vehicle. Oil is the blood of your car. It’s like being thirsty and drinking coke instead of water all day. You will get sick. Stick to what it says in the owner manual.

@Gaurav @Rahimdad you know my off-road capabilities. I’ll follow anyone anywhere but I scared myself too much following you guys on the last expert level drive. I’ll let you know when I’m going up, Insha’Allah I can get you a drive in the 2 big cars. I’m working on the flamethrowers so you can fight over that truck 😂

Hello! We are thinking of visiting Musandam Governorate in Oman. It is only 200km away from Dubai, should be a nice option for short 1-2 days trip. Looks like there are plenty of things to do including dhow cruising, old castle exploration, mountain driving and beach camping. Anybody visited this place before? May be you can give some advise? It got me thinking what is the consensus in this community about cars' modifications. What mods do you hate and love seeing in cars? (could be yours or others') For me, I hate seeing the angry eyes in jeeps. And I love that chameleon paint like the one below

Got nothing but hate for blacked out rims specially matt black among the long list of other "mods" I hate. But blacked out wheels and rims top the list. Ones I like are subtle mods which add to the form and function of the vehicle, rather than screaming hey look at me I'm an attention whore.

Since BF Goodrich are slightly heavy better to deflate them to 12 psi and do get another gauge to double check that both showing the right pressure. As only a few Carnity intermediate drivers already know Al-Shuwaib, a challenging area that offers many opportunities to play and venture through some quite technical dunes, let’s start from there this Friday afternoon. The plan is to enter from Al-Shuwaib side and to exit in Bedayer, crossing Super Bowl, Iftar Bowl and many high dunes on our way. This may be our last chance before summer to enjoy driving in the daylight without suffering too much from the heat. The other day I was speaking to @Barry about CVT transmission and he told me he had one on his DAC vehicle back in the 1980's. The CVT has started appearing in more vehicles in teh past 10 years. From all these I have only heard complains about CVT failure in Nissan vehicles, mostly Sentra and Altima. I once wanted to own a Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT which also had the CVT. Although the shape, specs were my favorite as soon as I test drove one the CVT kind of threw me off as the revs never exceeded 2K revs even with the pedal to the metal. My question though is the CVT only has a history to fail in the Nissan or are others facing any issues with teh CVT as well. I never heard a Lancer EX GT owner complaint that their CVT gearbox failed? Can you please enlighten me if you happen to own any Mitsubishi vehicle or any other makes with the CVT transmission. Have you faced problems, and how costly would be repairs to teh CVT or does it need to be changed. Many thanks in advance to all for sharing your experiences here.

Good question, I too have only seen and heard CVT horror stories from Nissan products! Maybe because only Nissan has widely adopted the CVT as its standard transmission for majority of its vehicles? Toyota only now is making the VT stabdard in its smaller cars this year I heard even the Rav4 is coming with a CVT Well for the last 7ish months had a new rental yaris which also has a CVT, to be honest it worked pretty fine. It had "7 speed" gearbox ( a misnomer in CVT terms ) but yeah the rpms always kept pretty low even at 120 I was barely over 1.5k. But it wasn't totally gutless for a 1.5 but the low rpms but had a manual shift mode too if you wanted the motor to scream. The CVT and its low rpms did give it some real snazzy fuel economy. Had a tiny tank and 60 dhs it was full and get 550 - 600kms from it. But it was a new car and when we returned it it had barely crossed 35k. Now got a replacement ugly as hell Nissan Sunny with a regular gearbox and it sucks ass. Very soon they will replace it with a 2019 CVT version of it and then I can chime in how a Nissan CVT is. Although I thought the Toyota CVT gave it some real awesome milage, dunno how well it would last in the long run.

My first UAE car was suppose to be Nissan Altima (Preowned). Went through some horrible CVT nightmares online and decided to change it Toyota Camry at the last moment.

@Frederic I experienced the fytoplankton last year in Miami beach, at first it was scary since it was my first time and I had no idea about what it was. Once my cousin brother explained me the phenomena I was at ease and really enjoyed the moment. It is magical.

Yet another fantastic drive. thanks rahimbhai, Emmanuel, Asif Bhai for all the tips and help and banter and the aloo paratha thanks to gaurav bhai for the sandwiches and sri for the powerful tyre inflator. thanks to the rest for making it memorable. after my initial refusal and the usual confusion of 4 high and 4 low I settled into a rhythm of sorts and enjoyed the drive. i particularly enjoyed driving up the slope in pink rock and then being driven by rahimbhai up the same slope. The car seemed to behave better with rahimbhai than when I drive it- I wonder why!!!😁 i can see that I am improving and enjoying the drives with all the expert help and tips. the final highlight is the brunch at the end of the drive. As usual a great spread ofeats. Thanks again. thankfully, I did not have any drama after the drive unlike the previous week with a flat and the drama with the spare! oberall, wonderful time. Wondering if any one got any experience? I found the below post and my headlight backs look the same and i managed to adjust the low beam up (before it stopped about 7m in front of the car) by doing aiming against a wall but i cant seem to change the high beam at all today its abit cross eyes and i have a white beam in the middle but nothing at all so i want to pull them apart but nothing seems to happen?? For me the lower screw on the outer light changed the height but the inner as i then took for side to side does nothing?? https://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=56720

That would be great!!!! and its probably working but the problem is most likely user error cause it has the same issue on both sides and on both low and high beams.... Just tell me when and where!

Do record some videos of those monsters playing in the Awir sand, that must be like Transformers swimming in the swimming pool. If you really like to test them, plan to take them to Liwa or Sweihan for full-scale testing.

This is really bizarre to hear Japanese automaker Nissan also caught falsifying the emission data as per BBC article. Now admittance in time will decide if it was an omission or intentional after the full investigation. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44763905
