  1. Ah Ok then get ready for more noise, drag, fuel consumption and a tipsy-er car with a higher COG

  2. Jack the front of the car up so both wheels are off the ground. If it’s still tight when you steer, you might have a bad ball joint or track rod end or something. If it feels ok, you maybe just have a car with heavy steering. I’ve driven a lot of pajeros and I wouldn’t say they have light steering. Try that test and see what happens but it’s probably ok, it’s a pajero not a Range Rover.

  3. I drove a 2010 Pajero for 9 years and its steering is heavy compared to most other cars. So if your steering fluid levels are ok, I guess you will have to live with it

  4. It's better if you can buy a prefabricated part before looking to get it fabricated as it may be cheaper.

  5. @Chirag S. - if your using the TRD roof rack, you can fabricate something similar which might reduce wind noise

  7. Back than in Turkey i was having a Peugeot 206. For few days i traveled with my mother`s Benz. When i come back i thought something happened to my steering but i was normal. It was the difference of electric steering vs hydraulic steering. I think Pajero also dont have electric steering maybe thats why you think it is too heavy.

  8. Or flush and refill the ATF which might actually get some crud out of the way ans improve the situation

  9. Not your fault, you are not familiar with the dealers here. There is no such thing as repair in their vocabulary. It's only replace. I wouldn't be too surprised if they say the whole trans has to he replaced at a price which probably exceeds the price the vehicle was bought at.

  10. It depends on which car you were driving to compare with? I always feel my Pajero steering is tighter than my Range of wifeys trailblazer. Still as a first rule of thumb, check and top up your power steering fluid with car properly warmed up and do few steering left and right to let the oil in the canister circulate and release any bubbles (if any). Top up the the max line on the dipstick and drive around, if it helps.

  12. Hi After being on vacation and driving another SUV for a while i noticed when i got back that my steering is real heavy, it was like this before too i just didn't realize. For you other guys driving Pajeros is the steering heavy or is it the same as any other car?

  13. Hi Friends, Two days back, i had installed roof rack on my FJ. After installation and crossing speed above 80 km, annoying aeolian noise started. This is discouraging to go for long drive and disturbance for co-passengers as well. I need your expert advise or solution to get rid from this noise. Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions!!

  14. Well I would wait until you install your RTT and then see the nose levels. If you get a spoiler now and get a RTT then you might have more noise and then need further work

  15. Checked fluids and they are still good so have to be vacation hangover... Was driving a 2019 seat suv that was new so probably lost all my arm muscles and i will test to jack the car when i can.... but should't be issue cause it has only run 46000km... Thanks for the input.

  16. @Per A I second at Gaurav & Barry's comments, after the required inspection you should be able to figure out ! If all well, I would say it must be a vacation hangover You will again get used to the Pajero steering !!

  17. @Chirag S. I had installed a TRD light weight roof rack on my FJ2 which did not increase the noise heavily, The noise was always there from the front windshield and the side mirrors on the FJ cruisers when you speed on the highways. So the reason maybe they gave a powerful JBL entertainment system, :P !!

  19. I’m not arguing advantages or disadvantages. I’m just saying it has been done. Maybe it’s a rock crawling thing, I don’t know. Just wait, I will show you.

  20. Well to be honest if running two props to each wheel at the front,I don't seen any point or advantage over a single front end with a lockable diff. Impact nothing but disadvantages. Unless its just done for show and bragging rights.

  21. It’s a super wide transfer case with 2 propshafts running to the front. Both front wheels have their own differentials and their own independent suspension setup. I don’t know how to explain it simpler, my brain was melted first time I seen it too. It’s not portal axles or floating axles, it’s something you have never seen before. You’re welcome to come and see it or wait a couple of days and I’ll post pictures.

  22. Huh!!! Explain to me how having two diffs on the front end would work? Two independent prop shafts coming from the x-case for each or something I don't see the point or any advantage of that or ...... Sure you mean diffs and not something like portal axels or something???.
    1 point
  23. No, each front wheel actually has it’s own separate differential. Would I lie to you? 😂 Huge transfer box with 2 props running to the front. It’s a super rare weird setup from a GM panel van that was only built for 2 years. Our USA friends like this setup because it’s supposed the strongest setup GM ever built. I’m going to Oman tomorrow but I’ll post some pics when I get back.

  24. I'm sure you meant to say front, center and rear diff.

  25. Yes I still like to get my hands dirty. Car shows is only part of it. We still have to repair cars to pay for all the crazy builds we do. You should drop into the shop some day and have a look. I know you like jeeps. We’re building a stupid crazy SWB wrangler rock crawler at the minute. Small block Chevy, lengthened and widened chassis, 48” tyres, air ride suspension, 3 differentials, yes 3, each front wheel has its own differential. If you’re into engineering the front suspension setup will blow your mind. Stupid crazy car.

  27. May I ask why you installed one in the first place?
    1 point
  28. When you consider the price i bought it yes it just not worth it to change. Better to drive until it dies and throw it to scrapyard.

  29. Social media fills a role specially for us expats to keep in touch with friends and families but there is A LOT of garbage on there to. Some people don't know how to use it as a contact to your loved once or some casual entertainment and get stuck as it is easy gratification for your brain and chemically it acts the same on your brains happiness center ans some drugs. So there will come a change in the future i just hope it will be for the better. /Per

  30. Repair costs and that stuff is standard when you have a car but the issues i have here is if the garage is rely doing what they say they are! I have helped a friend with a car and i knew that the break pads needed changing that was fixed it looked like but 1 month later when he goes to the same garage same mechanic they tell him the pads need changing cause they are worn?????

  31. It's not always change there is repair also here in the market but it always depends on the durability and customers budget... diagnosis is not limited to hooking up a scan tools and retrieving codes there are wirings to be checked, live data to be viewed and many other aspects only after that it's decided what to do about it...you have to make time and drop the car for a good old check-up...

  32. Unexpected cost mainly, Just broke the motor inside the power mirror. and the spare part shop doesnt have a motor replacement, instead a complete mirror for 590 Aed. currently removed the power mirror connection.

  37. You are right it is very nasty fault as i see. Tones of thing might cause it. Currently i am almost loosing my mind with reading forums. Is it this, is it that. By the way @Barry are you working as mechanic? I was thinking you guys just doing crazy show car stuff.

  38. You can put a cover or atlernative if you install some wind deflectors that would help

  39. I would not start replacing solenoids just yet. P1595 means that there are issues present in one or more circuits (as opposed to failing solenoids). However, finding this issue is PITA on Jeeps and many Chrysler products, since it involves testing the brake light circuit, and dedicated circuits between the solenoids and the PCM. To do this you need Jeep/Chrysler specific scan tool that has the ability to activate each suspect solenoid individually. If @Barry has the time, I suggest you have him do this, or if he does not have the time, to take the vehicle to the dealer. These circuits have to be tested in a particular order of steps, and if you get this order wrong, you can spend days looking for the fault and never find it. Good luck!

  40. This is not only the mechanics to blame. This is market here like this. Whatever you pay you will get that. For the money i am paying no one is going to sit on computer and make research for me for hours. So i am trying to do it myself. Even if people trying to be better, making research, trying to make diagnosis for every small item who is going to pay for it in this country or lets says for these beater cheap cars. For cars like you are dealing currently, case is totally different.

  41. The problem here is there are very few mechanics. I could probably count the decent mechanics I know on one hand. Most of the “mechanics” here are low paid labourers who have never even opened a book. I’ve lost count of the number of people I’ve hired and fired this year already. People come and tell you they have been doing the job for 10 years, but when it comes down to it, they recommend changing a whole assembly at 5,000 dhs rather than change a 10 dhs bearing because they’re just not educated and have no interest in learning anything technical. To be honest, if I was earning 2-3k per month I probably wouldn’t be all that interested either. And the problem is only compounded by cheap bastards always searching for the lowest price rather than getting a quality job, even if it means getting an engine held together with silicon and shellac.

I totally agree with what Fred mention, spend lot of time on offroad club threads and start with main page sticky links as it has lot of information for beginners and you will be able to understand things better when you join your first newbie drive.

  47. Not exactly a car show, but I sneaked into the garage of a company that deals with 4x4 mods. This is one of the reasons I want to settle down in Philippines when I retire. Only mud and mountain off roading here only.
