  1. @daninehme it depends on how old is your daughter and of course it’s your decision as a father, the only thing is that we need you to be focused 100% on your driving. @Mohammed Yaasir welcome. As @Rahimdad explained, for your first time, no worries. But for next time we will ask you to get a deflator and a flag, as a minimum. @daninehme and @Mohammed Yaasir, see you at the meeting point at 5:30 sharp for the briefing. Others, newbies and above, see you at 6 (unless you decide to attend the briefing one more time, which is never useless...). In both cases, please don’t be late...

  3. @Javier M your video is a good example of what newbis and fewbis hear all the time us jabering when someone gets stuck if its front or rear heavy and @desertdude your video is a clear example of what not to do when off roading but one thing is clear if there are more poeple in a single area its always a good idea to juist steer clear and go to someplace else where there is less traffic so there is even less chance to get f**ked up... @Emmanuel your video has the guy fishtailing and loosing control

  5. I never had anyone put petrol in my car until I came to uae. It’s just not a thing where I’m from. You fill your own car. I don’t understand the mentality of the petrol companies paying people to stand on the forecourts but I just roll with it. When in Rome.....

  7. Welcome @daninehme, since it is your first time and it is more about theory and putting into practice what we inform you during the theory part I would advise you do not bring your daughter if she can easily get bored. On the other hand if she has the patience and is unlike 10 year old who want action she is more than welcome to join. @Mohammed Yaasir welcome buddy. Since it is your first time you are exempted from carrying any tools. However after you receive your brief tomorrow and the interest grows to join us for more drives in the future, you will need to buy a few essential things before your next drive. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow.

  9. https://gulfnews.com/uae/transport/video-man-in-al-ain-fined-dh40000-jail-for-car-donuts-1.1572420661014 Some things to take away from this article, Doing donuts is not hazardous to the driver. Irresponsible in a public place yes, but nobody has ever died doing a donut Donuts do not occur when a “strain is placed on the vehicles suspension” Finally, the guy wasn’t even doing donuts. From the road markings on the picture, he was fishtailing and doing burnouts I really hate lazy and uninformed reporting

  10. Any turbo will have lag but if you go for something small like a T25, it will spool up a lot faster and start making power at 2-2.5k. You won’t get as much power as say, a T4 or T5 but it will be a noticeable increase and lag will be reduced. There are options. You can run a twin turbo setup. Not the standard one on each side, a small turbo that feeds air to a bigger turbo. I did this on a Subaru I owned before and got an extra 150 bhp. Problem is this takes up a lot of space and you will need to get a lot of custom stuff made. But, the power is always there and the harder you rev, the more power you make. Superchargers are awesome for making power all the time but it will cost you more. If you want to go quick, cheap and nasty, fit a nitrous kit. They are cheap and easy to fit. You can fit the whole kit in a few hours. When you need an extra boost when climbing dunes etc, just hit the button and you can have 50-500 bhp depending on the kit.

  16. Now that is news @Atif bhai. Howcome only cow dung will do the trick, I take a dump every morning too, how is my dung different than the cow dung? Just thinking about the smell from the car, would it be in a drive-able condition with the stink from the fuel. I guess we will have to wait till 2021 to find out more.

  22. Why do you want to drive at 4-5 psi anyways. Unless you have a real light vehicle and very thick, oversized and stiff tyres like cooper STTs you'll literally be driving on flat tryes and your rims will shred them within 5 minutes.

  25. In this case, my advice to @Rahimdad would be to forget the idea, and to buy a vehicle with turbo already installed by the factory. On a 2001 model, the mileage (and wear) on the engine is probably so high already that ANY turbo he fits to it now will make it explode. The engine, not the turbo.

  26. I wrote an advice about this a while back, To answer your questions, The MAF is essential. It measures how much air is flowing into the engine and tells the ECU how much fuel to inject into the cylinder. It is non adjustable, it is just a measuring advice. The ECU will need to be reprogrammed, probably changed. On an old worn engine, a turbo puts extra strain. Unless you want to upgrade the internals, you will need to run a low pressure turbo, 10 PSI or less. You will need new inlet and outlet manifolds, custom made if a kit isn't available. You might be able to keep the rear part of your exhaust the the front will have to be changed. Anything from 20-200 horsepower depending on how much you want to spend. A lot. You will need wasta to get it passed by RTA.

  27. It's better to learn from other people mistakes by analyzing these offroad accidents or mistakes done by thousands of offroaders every year. This will be an educational tool with open discussions regarding mishaps in off-roading based on your own experience and off-road knowledge. Please keep it simple and relevant for learning purposes rather than making any insulting or unwanted remarks. The whole objective is to learn from other offroaders mistake so we can off-road safely. 31. I remember a video going around, maybe last year, some local kids were doing donuts in a patrol on city walk. Sheik Mo put them to street cleaning duty as punishment. Good punishment. I love donuts but there’s a time and a place. In Ireland we have a thing called diff events. Every weekend there’s 10-20 going on around the country. Somebody rents a farmyard or a car park out of the way. Drivers usually get in for free and passengers and spectators pay a small fee to cover costs, £5 or £10 max. The drivers go in and do their thing, change their tyres and go home. It takes a lot of the idiots off the road and people can blow off some steam without getting in trouble. Something like that here could help a lot.

  35. I already drive at 8 psi and I don't use beadlocks, but I use thick wall tyres that can withstand that low pressure. I can even go lower but it would not be much of a difference.

  39. @MisterPoet - DIY tips : If the toothpaste scenario dint last longer than expected , I would suggest to go with the sand paper rub with water + headlight polish and to complete it with a clear coat spray. (Take a 3-5 minute break after every stage) Highly recommend brand Rustoleum enamel clear coat as I had bought 2 CANS for 60aed from Souq/Amazon, Also used the remaining on my rims for a glossy finish, make sure you do all this in a closed area, You might need 1-2 hours to complete all the above, Do watch couple of youtube videos on the same for more tips and materials required for a perfect job !! Enjoy, All the best !!

  40. I changed my 29 inch HT tyre to a 31inch AT tyre and I can definitely notice the heaviness in terms of acceleration and also while climbing a dune. The weight of each tyre had increased by about 3-4 kg. I have to offset it by reducing the tyre pressure further than I used to earlier. But I read somewhere that higher tyre weight or unsprung weight is good for offroading. Not sure though on how it helps in the desert especially over cross tracks or in terms of stability.

  41. Thanks @desertdude, I'm going to try steelies sometime soon. Spending Close to 8K for alloy beadlocks rims is a little absurd to me. I do think that the benefit of driving at 5-6psi will offset the weight of the rims a little bit. But it's going to be trial and error! Cheers, Jas

  42. I remember I switched to steel from alloys on my XJ. The difference was big. The car felt heavy, loss of power and poorer acceleration. Will never switch to steel wheels again. And plus all the added strain on all the driveline components probably cause more wear and tear on them. Specially if being off roaded hard. Not worth the one bent rim you might get down the line. Which can be repaired easily and cheaply nowadays

  43. I don't understand why when a vehicle is through to the other side of the dune and gets stuck, you need to pull it back over the dune. With the weight of the car, a little digging would have gone a long way if you need to pull it back. The angle at the back was also not a good one. Seen many accidents as such over the years and people never learn.

  47. Always try to recover in a straight line as much as possible. If straight isn't possible, then a slight diagonal angle would have saved this rollover; instead of recovering at this acute 90-degree angle, which was a perfect recipe for disaster. Secondly, speed of pull was too high for the first attempt, always start with soft pull first which help break the sand resistance gently. Minimum 3 soft pulls before attempting medium strength pull. Heights of people with so much lack of mere common sense to not to put basics of physics and geometry in such a simple application.
