For all the drivers, there is an ADNOC station right at the Al Qudra parking area, next to Last Exit. I called them, and they are now open 24h. I have topped up, just in case, but we can also use this new pump station. See you tomorrow.

For me it has to be getting hit from behind. You get stuck in a phantom traffic jam, put your hazard lights on. When you look in the rear view mirror you see someone closing up fast behind and think shit shit shit I hope this guy is going to see me and stop in time. Getting hit from behind has to be one of the worst things ever. Your whole day gets ruined because someone else wasn’t paying attention to the road then you lose so much time trying to get your car repaired when it wasn’t even your fault.

Hitting a reckless deliveroo guy or pedestrian

It's been a while since I have been there. The last time I was there ADNOC was opening an outlet. But it would be safer to refill your tank prior to coming to the meeting point.

Since the day she left the hospital after being born till this day my daughter hasn't been in a moving car without being buckled up Now is older and can buckle her self in. But when she was smaller she would cry if you didn't buckle her in.

Breaking down in the middle of a busy highway. But when it actually happened it wasn't so scary. I broke down in my D1 between Dubai and Abu Dhabi highway. The tensioner pulley broke and the belt just came off and sat there and didn't get mangeled in fan. I saw the battery light come up and AC compressor topped working so pulled over. I called my Sharjah parts guys and asked how much is a tensioner pulley for. It was for around 120dhs. Well I wasn't going to dish out 300 plus for a recovery truck just for that. So called up a buddy asked him to bring me the pulley from Shj and I will make it worth his while. He said he was at work and get off in 2 hrs and another to reach me. I said no worries. I took my matt out of the car and moved as far as possible away on the other side of the crash barrier and just chilled under a palm tree for my friend. But to be honest it still is something always at the back of my mind when I'm driving. Hence I always carry a lot of tools and various other bits and bobs that might come in handy.

Children in traffic, all forms, not fastened in a car, on a bicycle, playing near a school. It is not the child I am scared of, but the lack of education.

I used to be scared of police before. In my country they will pull you out of the car and beat you up for fun. I can show you the broken fingers to testify. In UAE I have always found the police to be decent and helpful and willing to listen to both sides of the argument. If you’re not doing anything illegal there’s nothing to worry about.

Correct. On my Land Cruiser that literally went to the desert everyday. Quite a bit of the black paint on the sub frame, lower arm and chassis had literally been sand blasted away. Not to mention keeping everything else spiffy clean underneath as well. Easy example is just look how nice, clean and deep black your tyres look when you are in the desert. almost new. Which doesn't last very long the moment you inflate and hit the tarmac

Just have a nice high jump to shake the sand off. No need for full car wash.

How do you think transport will be in 200 years? Obviously we will all be dead and gone. The dinosaur juice will have run out long ago. The people have rebelled against electric cars 100 years ago because mining lithium is destroying the planet. What do you think the people in the future will do for transportation and how will they make it work? Will they ruin the planet to the point where everyone goes back to riding horses again?

Since it’s a simple job I asked the small workshop in Al-Quoz where I go to wash my car : Toolsa. Actually the Egyptian boss seems to be a good reliable mechanic. He usually works on classic cars.

Drain coolant from rad. Fill with water, drive around, flush, rinse and repeat for a few times until only water is coming out. Then refill with coolant. And you think if you go to "someone" they will flush it out? They will also just drain the rad and refill from top and be done with it

How to get rid of coolant inside the engine jacket?

WOW, I also like to know if it's related but I highly doubt. Btw, please share the coolant flush contact as I also need to flush my whole cooling system and refill.

I tried that many times and look like stupid as why Im interfering, especially from local families. I see this A LOT in Warqa including kids popping out of sunroof, kids on driver's lap (yes really), kids on front seat without seat belt and what not.

For sure shared transport, but not on cars instead will be like hyperloop, drones or individual high speed transport. Maybe teleportation like Matrix, you never know we all will be digitized through phone or fiber network. No roads, no traffic, no fuel, no delays.

Nice topic @Barry Long ago, I have been fined for wrong speed when I was at 80 and got the radar for 102, since then every radar I pass my heart skips a beat to not to be faulty again and I literally glare in the lens for flash or no-flash. I used to use that 20 km grace speed a lot, but after that incident as I approach radar I come down to actual road speed minus the grace limit, just to be safe than sorry for 600 dhs. Second I'm most scared of pedestrian crossing when I am the first one to see the pedestrian and stop, I'm always worried about next lane guy should see my car and stop too, as pedestrian will have no visual of the second lane in case that guy miss. Third especially in bur dubai area, where STUPID parents put the pram first on road to stop the traffic literally make my blood boil as if someone fail to stop then that poor kid in the pram will be history due to idiotic parents.

Shared transport like an Uber or Ekar but 100% autonomous transport. Door to door transport, vehicle will be used to optimum performance. And like the horse, we will go on our days off to the circuit or desert to enjoy our hobby.

I drive at 8-10 PSI all the time with Geolander (semi-aggressive tread and sidewall) and never had a pop-out unless involved in an accident, bumping over the inevitable bush at very high speed. As far as I rem, I have had 2 pop-outs in last 3 years. I totally agree with Javier going lower than 8 PSI is practically useless as it will increase the drag than helping in climb. I tried Moreeb hill on 8 PSI and 6 PSI and 8 performed an inch better (surprisingly).

Like I said, we will put what you have learnt to good practice this weekend

Sri and Javier were very kind. I like to teach people how to get unstuck by letting them shovel, so they can learn faster

@Gaurav last week Shamil made me and Xavier shovel an entire dune as he was stuck right down the middle. Since we were only 3 cars and the angle was not the best, we shoveled a lot to make the recovery easy. @Shamil, the last portion of qudra is a mini version of Faqa. So it might just be your lucky day to return the favor in kind. 😁
