Once you are able to buy one of the regular Rolls Royce Bentleys Lambos, Ferraris and other exotics anything above is just showing off look how much more money I have to waste. Look you cheap peasent I paid half a million more for the Ultra Sport Super Special GT XWB MZD FEK ASS DIK 1 of 20 version ( later which 2000 more will be made due to demand ) which weighs 50 grams less by using super rare ultra light metal harvested from crashed meteorites from the bottom of the Mariana trench for the door handles and now it goes from 0 to 100 in 0.005th of a second faster than the regular version. Not to mention the killing the car manufacturers make by selling these to rich idiots4 points

Good share, but I will never recommend to go out to desert alone. If you're stuck in an area without mobile coverage your app will not work.3 points

I totally agree on every word you said as I happen to have the same impression for Baofeng up until last year. BUT SADLY all the historic user of Baofeng in Carnity off-road club was a classical example to try WEIRD positioning of hiding the mic, handset, hands free 3 million kms away and then speak from a tunnel on a upside down face. Technically speaking it's nothing to do with Baofeng, if user does not or don't want to understand how basic radio works it's a user issue and not a brand issue.3 points

@andy_macdxb I drive off-road regularly with Carnity in my nativa. I am currently in fewbie level and I enjoy the ride very well. I haven’t done any extreme rides or huge dune bashing yet but our senior member @Rahimdad tried couple of times in Maliha play area and he found nativa is capable off roader.2 points

When joining Carnity Off-road Club, there will come a time that you’ll need to start looking for deflators, pressure gauges, compressors, flag, etc... Dragon Mart is a wonderful shopping paradise but finding the item you need is indeed sometimes a daunting task. So I listed below some shops and their locations that might be of help: Off-road Flag Section: EA Address: EA01 Shop: S&D Autoparts Deflator tool and pressure gauge Section: EB Address: EBD05 Shop: Taizhou Yian Trade Two Way Radio Lots of options, but the BA section has the most shops. Look out for the big CRONY labeled shop. They have the Motorola MT777 = 120 - 150 AED. Crony MT777 = 80 - 120 AED Also the Baofeng UV-5R is still popular and easy to find. Costs about 75 AED. Floor Jack & Tools JZX shop in section EA, no. EAA25 2 Ton floor jack with swivel neck = 120 - 150 AED (Recommended) Tool kit = 50-100 AED Compressor Mainly available in BA section. Have a walk and haggle a bit. The Camel logo brand is pretty good. Available in single or twin cylinder model. Single cylinder = 100 -150 AED Twin Cylinder = 150 -200 AED (Recommended) Please take note that we are not affiliated with these shops nor do we give any guarantees about their items. We solely provide the location where you can find these most common items to save your time.1 point

Geneva Motor show was cancelled, so the engineers that just spent their annual budget on a toy need to do something to show for it. Normally, they woudl take it to Geneva, have everyone ooh and ahh and fie years later you get a watered down version of the beautiful vehicle they created. This year ... no show (literally), so they needed to put it out in Social and other media. Is it beautiful? Based on the last Bentleys it's getting better. Is it worth the price of a really nice home, no. But as I have said before, you can't drive a house, but you can sleep in a car.1 point

Thanks for this post! I had a few close shaves already in the 7-lane roads of Dubai. After reading this yesterday, I have reset my side-view mirrors and tested them on my way home last night. For sure it makes a massive difference, but it does need some time to get used to (especially since it limits the distance in the rear that you can observe - which should be OK if you use the rear-view mirror more often).1 point
-
@Gordon Grimmond there are 3 Newbie drives this weekend. So RSVP for the one you prefer. Hope your front and rear tow points are in good condition1 point

Was supposed to fly TRV - DXB - LAX for a trade show, but when I arrived in DXB this morning they told us the trade show had been cancelled. Would have been OK - but for the fact that I did another leg DXB - TRV yesterday (to originate on the whole flight). As I was on EK even thought you might be 'driving' 😂 Like I said, at least I am here and free Friday so now I am spoilt for choice.1 point

These towhooks are fine, and as it's a recent vehicle they will be in good condition. See you soon !1 point

Hi @Rinelle Sanaani i've noticed you signed up for both Newbie drives. Please take note these are two different Newbie drives in different areas (Dubai and Sweihan). Please select one of the drives. Thanks !1 point

Hey all, this is a first version of the scrapper for the below 10k cars. It updates once a day (it should) and I will try to correct all bugs with time. Let me know if you find it helpful and what other info we can add to it. Scrapper 4x4 on a budget. @Gaurav wikipedia is not the best database for weight/power information on cars, especially with the GCC version. I am looking for something more reliable and easier to track, will update you all soon.1 point

I remember having the privilege to ride in that sheep for the last time when it went home on recovery from Lisali trip I added Armada and after little research, it seems that its offroad version is V8 Xterra ahead of Xterra time that comes with Ranchos shocks, skid plate, trimmed bumper for better clearance and tow hook package. Good find. Thanks. For Ford Expedition I had a word with my friend who drove his brand new Expedition for offroad and he doesn't recommend it due to being too long and heavy, but powerful, so will skip it from the list. I checked the price and cheapest is around 25k atm and that is 2006 Fortuner but 2.7 and not 4.0. Although 2.7 Prado and Fortuner are underpowered 4x4 for dunes, still classify as a full-fledged 4x4 with low gearing. Maybe next year will add them here once 4.0 drops below 20K,1 point
-
Well that made up scale is based on real-life usage of BUYING and USING 4x4 for dune bashing rather than sitting on a laptop like a duck and watching tube and judging 60 - 80 hp/ton - Underpower for dunes - Not own, but driven few times 80 - 100 hp/ton - Borderline OK - 2002 Land Rover Discovery 100 - 120 hp/ton - Acceptable - 2003 - Land Cruiser GXR and 2006 Nissan Patrol 120 - 150 hp/ton - Good - 1999 Mitsubishi Pajero 150 - 200 hp/ton - Very Good - 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer 200 - 250 hp/ton - Excellent - 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Thanks for your valuable input for Armada, I think Expedition also falls in a similar category. Will research both and add them in the list. Off course these numbers are to benchmark performance, but car overall condition really dictates the capability. As I remember buying 5.7 or 5.2 Magnum Jeep Grand Cherokee and spending money to make a project car, but every time I hit the sand in 4x4 gearing it starts heating up. Sold within 3 months.1 point
