Hello Everyone.. Hope all of you enjoyed the Fewbie plus drive last Friday. For me it was my first Fewbie Plus drive and I really felt the secret of why this drive been called as Fewbie Plus drive. @Tbone Really appreciate for taking us for a toss during the drive. It’s like you dropped us in the middle of the sea and told us to follow you 😛. Wonderful and awesome drive except some refusals. @Emmanuel, @Biju Abdul thanks for keeping the convoy in order and the guidance you provided during the drive. @Gregory Perkin As I was third in the position I could see only your talent (among all co drivers) during the drive.. you drive too well with lot of confidence and sense which actually passed on to me to follow you quick and safe..Special thanks to you (added a picture for you). Fortunately or unfortunately I got my first tyre pop out during the drive when I was on a slidy..I always worried always about the tire pop out during all my drives as I am driving with 12psi with normal tires on Y62. special thanks for @Emmanuel & @Tbone for the quick fix and I believe that’s an experience to learn what to do during a tyre pop out.. washing out the sand from the sides of the Rim to avoid any air gaps is something I learned during the process. After the fix everything went smooth with the car until I get back on the highway we’re I experienced severe vibration on the car when I pass 80km/hr speed . Only way was to replace the pop pout tyre with my spare tyre which help me to reach home safe with out any further issues. I took the tyre to a repair shop and when they open the tyre there was lot of sand inside the tyre (picture) which cause the whole car unstable during the highway drive. My understanding is after every pop out we need to take that tyre to a repair shop to make sure there is no sand caught inside.😊.. @Tbone you still owe all of us the drive report.🤭 Waiting.......

Dear Desertnauts. The 100 Km Challenge is back!! Actually, we should call this the 104+ Km Challenge, since the goal of this sequel is to better the mileage achieved in the first round, a little over a month ago. In my previous desert experience, away from the UAE, the goal of each trip was to go from A to B, choosing the most direct, yet most scenic and entertaining route. These trips used to last up to 3 weeks, so covering as much ground as possible was a must, always keeping in mind the safety of the convoy. This particular drive, therefore, plans to imitate those long range drives, taking us from Faqa to Qudra Lakes/Parking, in the least possible time, while visiting as many of the scenic locations along the route as possible. Hence, we'll cross the width of Faqa, along its western border, drive through a series of 2 sabkhas and technical dunes, all the way to Little Sweihan, traverse this fun area from West to East, through more sabkhas and technical dunes (the area which I call "The Middle Earth") to reach Solar Park, then again West to Bab al Shams, and back North to our exit point. We plan to cross the major sand formation (Faqa, Little Sweihan, and Bab al Shams/Qudra) in approximately 1 hour each. Counting for some pit stops, the goal is to cross the 100Km mark within a little more than 4 hours. The length of this convoy (9 cars at the moment) will add to the difficulty of this drive Vs. the previous one, when only 5 cars participated. Be ready to come as concentrated as possible, ready to follow the car in front of you with matching speed and momentum, so that we can keep moving (safely) in unison, overcoming all obstacles at a good pace. Dear @Gaurav, @Rahimdad, @Srikumar, @Frederic, @Jeepie, @Brette, @Wrangeld, @Emmanuel, @Ale Vallecchi,@Chaitanya D it was great to learn from Absolute Newbie to Advance by driving following your lead and to enjoy your warm support and true contagious passion for off-roading. In Carnity I found much more than just an off-roading club and the more I proceed in this journey the more I am convinced it was the best choice I could make. Until March 2020 I had spent 12 full years in Dubai and had gone in the desert off-roading only twice, having seen the sunrise only while in a taxi to the airport for one of my hundreds of pre-covid era flights... Now, 7 months later I have driven almost 2000km in the sand in more than 40 drives.. 😂😂 (and no flights!!). Desert off-roading has been the perfect anti-stress medicine during the last difficult months, ensuring every weekend a mental reset (either you disconnect from your phone emails / calls or you crash your car), a full energy top-up (almost literally delivered by sunbeams at dawn) and granting a constantly renewed sense of peace, mindfulness and gratitude that I had somehow lost in my workaholic life. In this 1st chapter of my personal off-roading book, I loved every pop-out, as each time it was reason for my son's greatest excitement, every refusal, every stuck and every recovery. I avidly looked at every landscape and defiantly listened to the roaring of my Y62's 400hp engine. I was thrilled at every deflating and hungry for more driving just after switching off my compressor, while I felt the excitement of a child every time I added a new piece to my off-roading gear, from hat to boots, from flag to floor jack. Above all, however, I especially enjoyed and I am truly thankful for @Wrangeld's constant encouragement, guidance and support, which was the closest thing I can think of to off-roading mentoring. I was amazed by the game-changing impact of some of the advice I received, which transformed my driving performance drastically one week after the other, and amused by Richard's the joyful enthousiasm and infinite patience, which - I must say - is a distinctive trait of all Carnity Seniors. I must also thank @Luca Palanca Falsini, who is the real culprit for my initiation to off-roading. It was him, who first took me to a family off-road drive, after which I signed up with Carnity. Now a new chapter in my off-roading book can be inked: I truly look forward to learning the art of leading in the desert, hoping - one day - to be able to give back as much as I have received so far.

After every pop out you need to take the car to tyre shop and 1. Clean the rim/tyre thoroughly and reinstall the tyre. 2. Do rebalancing of the tyre This will get the wheel back to normal and prevent any vibration at high speeds. Not sure if you have all terrain tyres , but probably the profile is low and hence not suitable for low pressures below 13 especially when doing side slope and riding on bushes . If you can get higher profile tyres (with smaller rims) it will improve your rides without a popout as you progress . Best wishes

@Lorenzo Candelpergher this is a way of life in our community. The more you give, the more you receive. We are all from different walks of life, but come together, some for knowing they are passionate, some about to find that out soon. Love your enthusiasm and energy. I was proud that I had a part to play in developing @Wrangeld to some extent. But feel even prouder when you have been influenced and mentored by him to be at this stage, just as proud he must be of you today. Time will come when people will look up to you and your mentorship. I will be most proud the day when someone writes these same words about how you mentored them to be their best in the desert. This one promotion is evidence to a true community which stands together and takes all enthusiasts along for the ride of their life. Hi Asif I drive a Nissan Xterra I have had some beach driving experience and mountain track driving as well with some mud driving thrown in not a lot of sand dune driving. I have front and rear tow points. I have ordered a radio (Crony MT-777) but not sure when they will deliver. I do have a flag, tire gauge, shovel etc.

I have the Dejavu that it’s something like “intermediate minor” ... there is only one way to be certain if I am not wrong is to get the intermediate proper !

@Ajiesh George Kannankara I wanted to remind you before you leave to go directly, at low speed, to a tyre shop, clean your tyre and check balancing, but you were gone when I finished inflating... I can’t remember which tyres you have, but wondering if 12 psi isn’t a bit low for a Y62.

Hi @Asif Hussain I have already been on 2 prior drives with carnity in Abu Dhabi. Driving a MG RX8. However my vehicle radiator fan stopped working over our last drive. ( think due to me not having a skid plate and caused excessive sand to build up over the engine). I am in the process of getting a fabricated Aluminum one installed. Hoping to be ready by this Friday

Hi all It was action packed and speedy drive yesterday, which was actually my first Plus drive. Pretty challenging and diverse terrain with soft sands, crisscrossing, hill climbing etc. Very nice ! I was not awake obviously in first 500 meters, messing up with my gear shiftings and Prado slipped away from the path. Good wake up call ! 😄 Thank you @Tbone valuable advices regarding car accessories and well managed drive. Good convoy management also from @Biju Abdul and @Emmanuel ! See u soon on the sand !

Some highlights from today's drive.

Hi everyone, it was a fantastic day to start with for my first fewbie plus drive which I had been waiting for and expectations were high. Thanks and hats off to @Tbone and @Emmanuel for such a treat in desert. Though my expectations were high, the experiences were much above the expectations and the efforts from the leader and sweeper and not to b forgotten , the CF @Biju Abdul were excellent. For me it was a training session in crisscrossing, in which I had bit of concern and could gain a lot of confidence in this drive. Even though we had a few stucks and refusals every one did a great job to end an energetic drive at the mentioned time with a superb sidey to end with . Thank you guys and keep cool and safe. Hope to join you soon in upcoming events. 👍👍👏👏👏👏

Newbie Drive This is an easy-level off-road drive designed to help beginners get comfortable with the basic techniques of driving on sand dunes. Drivers will learn how to safely go up and down dunes, perform small side slopes (“sideys”) and rainbow arcs while driving in a convoy. The drive focuses on mastering throttle control and smooth acceleration while negotiating the dunes. Participants will also receive an introduction to ridge riding, side sloping, and crisscrossing broad dunes — all in a safe, controlled, and beginner-friendly environment. Who can join: Any Newbie or first-time member with a 4x4 vehicle having 8–10 inches of ground clearance and front & back tow hooks. Fewbie Drive This is a moderate-level drive where drivers will further develop and practice ridge riding, side sloping, and crisscrossing techniques on more challenging terrain. Participants will learn how to handle different dune situations while understanding vehicle limitations and working with gravity rather than against it. This level teaches drivers to become more calculated, disciplined, and technically aware, going beyond simply being a capable off-roader. The pace, terrain, and challenges are several steps above Newbie-level drives. Who can join: Any Fewbie and above level off-roader. Fewbie Plus Drive Fewbie Plus is an extension of the Fewbie level, designed for more experienced Fewbie off-roaders who want to tackle greater challenges at a faster pace and with increased technical difficulty. This level serves as a bridge between Fewbie and Intermediate drives, helping off-roaders transition smoothly while building confidence, control, and technical driving skills. Who can join: Any Fewbie Plus and above level off-roader. Intermediate Drive This level combines and refines all previously learned skills on more technical terrain and smaller, sharper dunes that demand precision, vehicle control, and advanced driving techniques. Drivers will also be introduced to larger dunes and learn how to safely navigate and connect dune lines while maintaining momentum. Intermediate drives require a high level of discipline, patience, awareness, and consistency, all while driving at a significantly faster pace than Fewbie-level drives. Who can join: Any Intermediate and above level off-roader.

During off roading getting hot oil sign on the dash . Tried putting water and carry on but not helping . I drive 2010 Jeep Wrangler 2010 . Is an extra fan in front of radiator a solution or any suggestion ?

@Emmanuel I was in a bit rush for some reason. Sorry about that.. It’s a learning curve for me and rest of the group who were not aware of this process. Appreciate and Thank you so much for the advise. I am currently running with stock Tires (bridgestone). I will keep it at 15psi feom my next drive onwards..🙏 @Chaitanya DWell Noted.. Thank you 🙏

For my Pajero I have been quoted 600-700 from couple of random shops in ras al khor.
