Hi all, as usual , let me start with thanking all of you for an "energetic clean drive". It was my first drive with almost zero refusals and stucks. Thank you @Chaitanya D for the drive , for the selection of area and as anyone could expect from a @Chaitanya D fewbie drive it was Soo good and exciting as always with some sideys, criss crossing and technical terrains etc. It was my first drive as sweep (though @Anish S being the real time sweep ) got some opportunities to comment "all good at back" for a few times 😀😀👍. It was unfortunate to see my jeep buddy @Arun Mathew exiting out as he had some issues with his desert companion - wrangler, will catch up later bro.👍. @Rizwanm2, I think was all set and prepared to play the role of CF, but fortunate or unfortunate for him 🤔😊? all of us drove so well that he didn't get a chance to take out his recovery kit and skills or to do some physical activities with shovel. @Ahab Shamaa had a blast with his extremely "extream" FJ and it was nice to see @Franco Swart and my absolute newbie classmate 😊 @Rizwan Waheedenjoying their drives in pajero. It was nice to see you after Soo long bro. To conclude, thanks @Anish S for your appreciation at the end and thanks a lot guys once again for a super charged drive. Hope to see you guys . Fantastic morning drive with fantastic people. Enjoyed every bit of it. As CF I was expecting to get my muscles and ropes stretched, but everyone was so good and I never got a chance to pull out recovery gears for any action. Thank you @Chaitanya D for executing nice drive plan to give everyone a taste of every thing. @Jon Mwas perfectly executing his second lead skills through out the drive is big releaf to the drive lead. Hello everyone ! I started from Dubai at 2 pm today and it took me aprx. 50 Mins to cross Ghantoot when i already had my test done yesterday. Now i am staying in Millennium Central Mafraq Hotel, Abu Dhabi and Shall start at 5 am to reach at the meeting spot after filling the tank . If anyone else staying here please reach out . My first ever drive as a Fewbie and I must say that the quality of the drive was even with my expectations. The drive was fast-paced, with several technical dunes, allowing us to use our experience from the Newbie drives to swerve through them. Following the lead of @Chaitanya D, we did some Ridge Riding & Criss-crossing which enhanced the thrill. @Chaitanya D did an awesome job of navigating through the technical dunes, and kept the drive on track, making sure we get to make the most out of the 4 Hours.

Awwww. Our Sherlock @Veedooshee will not help us find our fallen treasures in Liwa.

Trip Report: Thank you everyone for coming in time for this Tuesday morning drive, unusual and generally this is a working day for all. Weather was fantastic and as soon as we were beyond the Outlet mall it was cold and perfect setting for what was about to unfurl. We all deflated, prepped and had a debrief. Thank you @Anish S for joining in as support for this drive and highlighting some important points at the briefing , which I hope all the drivers will follow for their own and everyone's safety. We drove along the pylon track off Al Ain road and entered the area just off the High pressure gas line which is located in this area in the backdrop of a rising sun with Hot air balloons . After many repeated drives and inputs from the seniors these areas have been marked and we now know very well how to avoid them totally. We drove along the small to medium range dunes this area has to offer, side sloping by takin turns initially and once everyone was comfortable we did them in continuation. As we headed after playing here for quite some time ( about 1 hr) that we had to stop as @Arun Mathew had a transmission heating light in his wrangler. We had a chat and ,he wanted to exit as the terrain ahead was going to be a bit more technical and exit from there would be tricky. As a lead and as a driver I feel for anyone who has done so much repairs/ changes and still the issue persists. We drove along the cleanest path along flat sabkhas not to put more strain on the heating and exited him out quickly on the same track we entered. I hope he gets it checked and the issue is sorted soon. We drove back to the point where we had left to exit in quick time and then entered a slightly technical terrain , which to my surprise everyone of you drove really well. As there were some newly promoted fewbies I was expecting some refusals or stuck happening here but there was none. Just to pat myself I would say my lead was impeccable 🤣😜. We saw as we drove along some gazelles, camels and farms to feed them. Just seeing these free in their habitat is so pleasing. We then headed along the narrow area between tight technical dunes and entered our final play area which are fondly called "Margham loops". Small to medium dunes which can be ridden by the entire convoy in loops without much strain/difficulty, but definitely interesting as it will be a fast paced one. We has a chat on safe ridge ride,crossing and side sloping followed by some practice on dunes which was done really well by everyone. I must try to emphasize here again "Do Not Fight Gravity". We headed to out exit which was very near , and on time . Inflated and off we went energized for a well deserved fab start to a long holiday. Great driving by everyone and it will get more exciting as you do the basics correctly .Some pictures added in the gallery as well @Jon M was perfect in his role as 2nd lead. Stopping and rerouting whenever he saw me struggling even before I announced on radio. Super ✌️ @Anvar Sadath Bekal was new fewbie if I am not wrong but he drove like he wasn't. Good control in all areas and on some longer side sloping too. Well driven buddy @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ drove well for a new fewbie again , driving his SWB wrangler on all terrains. No fishtailing and no signs of any struggle anywhere except few instances which is how we all learn to become better desert drivers. Good job @bassel el rafei another new fewbie ,driving a Land Cruiser to near perfection at whatever he was challenged with , Great to see your enthusiasm and enjoyment. Charming smile towards the end was a testament to how well you drove and enjoyed the drive @Rizwanm2 did his role as center forward to perfection advising drivers to get out of refusals. Unfortunately (only for him) as all drove with no issues he was hardly kept busy . Thanks for your amazing support and look forward to many more. I must acknowledge he was the person to correct me as my tracker was paused somehow and he recorded the details perfectly. @Arun Mathew I feel really sad I had to exit you out early from what was turning to be a great drive. I hope you sort your jeep issue soon and we are waiting to have you with us ASAP. @Ahab Shamaa with a roaring FJ drove well . Absolutely no issues and no stuck , even when I bumped up the drive towards the end and paced it up considering he was at the back. Well done Habibi! @Rizwan Waheed was one with more fewbie drives and hence was at the back of the convoy. Drove well ,great control and no issues again. Bravo buddy @Franco Swart with his SWB Pajero surfed Margham full of enthusiasm and energy. His smiling nature and attitude was very welcoming to have on this drive. Well done mate @Shaaz Sha did his job of sweep to perfection. Communication really well to keep the whole flock together . Thank you for calling the convoy numbering and doin the radio check at the start. Well done @Anish S was entrusted as flying sweep, a late addition to the drive as manage/support. Sorry for the incident and glad to know that you are safe. Based on the video, i personally think that a longer approach was needed to climb especially when you have a heavier vehicle. The approach and angle to climb the dune look sharp, it was a too sudden climb to actually gain enough momentum to slide slope, criss cross or ridge ride. You will notice there was another track few meters before you started the climb, it is better to take a smoother path by starting to climb earlier and gradually with enough momentum. If there is a loss of momentum and if you are fishtailing, steer down smoothly towards the tail and descend. Lastly, in such situation, sudden turn and brake are very risky. Totally agree. Wattage is being thrown around on the boxes and spec sheets but there is no real rules or regulation so they can put what they want to they want on the box. Your formulas are right. In fact you should look at the lumens but again they will put on the box what they want. My recommendation is to just give it a try and look at the thickness of the wiring. If it’s a very tiny flimsy wire it won’t be made for 400 Watts 😜

Trip Report: The drive with the most drop outs So how did my morning start. Terrible in one word. @Shamil could make it due to fever, better safe than sorry. @Gaurav Soni went to the wrong meeting point, fortunately he was on @Gaurav bhai drive who was also doing a newbie drive and allowed him to join. Finally I had to send back @Hisham Masaad as he did not have a radio and we did not have a spare set. After everyone deflated and after the quick brief we rearranged the convoy and were on our way. At this point my day started getting better as the convoy I had on the day was funtastic. We had loads of fun as we played around and had some play time with some sides. Everybody managed well and showed good steering and throttle control. We reached Fossil Rock within no time but since the descent was terrible we just took a detour from the side and headed towards Faya. As we played around reaching Faya almost all the way from the back side. I say almost as I was reminded that the convoy I was leading was a Newbie convoy. You can just imagine my joy to see Newbies cope so well. My heartfelt thanks to @Rizwan Waheed for being an excellent second lead. Also my thanks to @Atif bhai for being an excellent centre forward. Special thanks to @Pickey Singh for being an excellent sweep and not only keeping the whole convoy together but keeping me updated regularly on the convoy movement. @Syed Raza Hussain was at his best, however I do feel sorry for a struggling shouting Pajero. @ALI ALMOUMAR impressed me with his all powerful Prado a smile which pushed me beyond the Newbie level. A good word from him is what made me realise its a Newbie group. @Luca Bregni enthusiasm was so infectious to add extra power to the whole group. His control of his Wrangler showed in both steering and throttle as he conquered the area with ease. @Aravind Padmaraju with his Xperia showed us his talent and all that he has learned with full competence. @Ken Hüüdma with his Patrol seemed like he's meant for this sport as I enjoyed watching him handle his Y62 so well. @Federico De Chirico with his 3.8 Pajero managed the drive with both steering and throttle control giving me confidence in his level of drive. Always a pleasure to watch @Shyam Karat handling his Wrangler limo Unlimited. Great inspiration to watch him go through the dunes as if we are driving on Sheikh Zayed Road. @Arun Mathew with his Wrangler just reinforced the strength of the Wrangler crew without any sticks or refusals. In conclusion what started for me as a somewhat terrible day turned out to be one of the most enjoyable days. All thanks to the people on the drive. Going beyond their capacity and pushing themselves and supporting each other to make it another wonderful day out.

I took today DPI test in Ghantoot, no queues at all. Didn't need to have appointment, but tomorrow can be different, like @Emmanuel mentioned. Payment with card only, no cash approved. Very smooth process, took only about 10 minutes.

How many drives did the plastic container last? I used a similar setup for first newbie drive, which ended up container being shattered.

Japan Allah khair @Mohamed Seidam. Liwa is a terrain which demands total respect, concentration and to push ourselves and our vehicles to extremes. We need every prayer and good wishes from brothers and sisters like you. We will miss physically anybody who is unable to make it to Luwa. But rest assured there will be plenty of buzz, pics and stories to come out after we return. Insha Allah with the popular demand and good weather we would definitely love to arrange a few more such events before the weather takes a turn towards heat.

Wonderful drive! Thanks to @Ale Vallecchi @Luca Palanca Falsini @Pancho and all drivers for good coordination and high performance. I really enjoyed the area, especially the last part where we did long ridge ridings. The sand was a bit soft but it only made the game funnier. The good thing with @Ale Vallecchi's drives that he always discovers wilderness parts of the desert allowing us to race against gazelles!

This is Very SOUND advice @Chaitanya 👍🏻 . Agree: if the car in front of you exit, you should follow exit regardless you have momentum or not. This way, you won't have to worry the car in front of you will suddenly be on your left-side or right-side as you'll have time to manouvre even if he drifts or spins like crazy. Thank you, definitely lesson learned 😊 so does my war wound warrant a status upgrade? *joking Just realized recently that Carnity still does weekly Abu Dhabi trips, so I will stick to that in the future (either in my repaired Patrol or some other 4x4 - here's wishing for something after new year 🤞 *fingers crossed)

@Zed sorry for your rollover. Is the vehicle damaged badly? Alhumdulillah that you didn’t get injured. I too felt that the speed was quite reduced before the fish-tailing started. If you did turn your stearing downwards it was already too late as there was no momentum to carry the front in the downward direction. Your point of concentration is quite valid, it only takes a few milliseconds of lapse in it for things to change. However, you are doing the right thing to evaluate what happened. The above is my point of view only so please rely on the Carnity senior member advice.

What a fantastic introduction @Atif ! I remember joining the club and cafeteria Atif at the end of each drive with wonderful Karak Chai from either you or Rahim Bhai. Probably none of us thought that two years later Carnity has become the fastest growing, hardest working, and most amazing off-road club of the UAE and that the community spirit has groomed people of all backgrounds to become seniors who contribute on a weekly basis by supporting or leading drives. I for one feel blessed to be able to be a part of this big family and if I can speak for all the other seniors we are delighted to see you back in the sands. The dynamics of Carnity might have changed but the values of being your second family will remain the same. See you soon in the sandbox !

I just got my Geolander 4th Set early this month. Using them since 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020 and couldn't be more happier. If you use your FJC lot on highway, then you can consider Michelin too, as they are super quiet on highway and reasonably good in sand BUT MINUS the rock and mountain driving capabilities. Yokohama Geolander are great all rounder. I have used their G012 (model) for first 3 sets and this time I got G015 as Yoko discontinued G012 and upgraded to G015.

I use cruise control on highway only when the traffic is flowing. I wouldn't worry about cruise control failure. If you see all the incidents with cruise control failure it happens only with Emarati Nationals and luckily they haven't given me nationality yet. So no chances of cruise control failing on me.
