Hi @Gaurav I used to underestimate self recovery, but after the session I learned that about 90% of it can be accomplished by self recovery. All of the points raised today regarding safety and discipline are highly praiseworthy, as you and the other marshals have proven in each and every drive @Frederic thank you for the sharing your experience it is always pleasure having you around Thank you @ASAD.for the snacks,it was great catching up with rest of the support team,looking forward to be driving with you guyz in the sand soon.

Thanks @Frederic for joining and supporting a great mission to restart the old training session. Thanks, everyone for your wholehearted participation and I love it when I have been bombarded with tons of questions at every step. It tells me clearly that you all have seen enough and reciprocating with real-life scenarios than just textbook responses. Off-roading is like an ocean and none of us can ever finish learning, it's an ongoing process, and that's what excites all of us. The core idea of support team training is to really show you all the tip of the iceberg, and let each one of you explore beneath the surface by applying these skillsets on regular basis. So more you apply, the more you will learn and practice these skills to be a more confident off-roader than just a pedal-pusher. In true off-roading spirit, I would rate the skill of self-recovery much higher than scaling daredevil heights (often misunderstood). Simply because when you have the capability to save yourself from any/all stuck scenario it opens a new chapter in off-roading that enables you to really start exploring without any fears, doubts or boundaries.

@Gaurav This was an excellent afternoon's learning, we really do not know what we do not know and sharing of tips and tricks like this not only helps us learn but enables us to be better at supporting the leads, ensuring the safety of others in the convoy and lastly gives us the confidence to apply what we have learnt. My key takeaways were break the resistance, types of tugs, and right technic of shovelling, apart from many others you shared yday:) And as u rightly said, with this we should be able to help self and others on recovering with minimal efforts🤞Then intensity of interest was clearly reflected with the extended session and none of us realised it was 8pm:) it was great to catch up all and thanks @Waqas Parvez for the snacks🙌🏼.

Thanks @Gaurav and @Frederic for the lovely highly informative session today - Thrill is not in just letting the things flow, it’s about enjoying the nature while respecting the challenges it brings with it and managing those challenges with open eyes. Thanks all for actively participating and making it an immersive experience. Special thanks to @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler for letting me hop in and providing me with my first off road experience as a passenger.

Thanks again @Gaurav and @Frederic for organizing this training. @Gaurav u Cleared so many misconceptions for me personally and im sure for others as well. I had first hand experience of applying those learnings this morning when i got crested right from the centre horizontally, bt like u guys said shovel is the best friend and breaking the resistance always works. Good to see all the supports, was great fun learning, shoveling and joking together.

What a wonderful drive this morning @GauravSoni faced pace full of adrenaline, cant think of many who would make a pajero scream that much 😅. @Waqas Parvez thank you being the SL, had to be someone special to keep up with Gaurav's pace, fantastic job. @Mario Cornejo thank you for making sure the convoy remained intact. @Ashutosh Garg @Haitham Khattab @Amr Aydin @Imteeaz @Senthil Kumar @Anoop Nair @Zed great driving guys was an absolute pleasure, we had a near perfect drive until the very end when we had a couple of pop-outs. @Ashutosh Garg you did great especially for your first intermediate drive, im sure you will get used to the pace as you drive more at this level. @Zed good to see you back in the sands my friend. PS: @GauravSoni like mario said, we definitely need Part-2 of this series.

cause is simple, downshifting from 2nd 4k rpm without reducing speech will reach above 7k rpm on 1st gear I dont know the max rpm 3.8 engine can handle, but that is definitely beyond red line and not safe for the engine, and gear box doesnt allow it to happen. This applies to all AT cars I suppose, at least on AT pathfinder prado FJ that I know The reason why you asking is to know how to climb higher, I am sure @GauravSoni can give you good answer on this. Seen he doing some wonders in Quaa with 3.8 What I do is I pull maximum speed on 2nd gear that the terrain and suspension allow me to before climbing, and this speed must be well beyongd 4k rpm (maximum torque on engine) and floor the pedal to climb. Otherwise floor the hell out of 1st from start,

Hi everyone, how do you manage to downshift from 2nd to 1st gear during a climb to preserve the momentum? Whenever I climb a hill in 2nd gear and trying to downshift to 1st gear, it wont shift until the car slowed down or almost stoped 😆 Dont remember exact rpm when I tried to dowshift, but it was arround between 3k-2k rpm according to sound Looking couriously forward to any solving 😉

I try to put in 1st gear from 3k to 2k rpm, and none work, which will give me from 3-4k rpm in 1st gear to keep the momentum on a steep hill

@Frans M this drive was only added yesterday afternoon since both the leads for yesterday's drive are down with the flu and the drive was cancelled. There is usually no change to the weekend drives, what's posted on Monday is final. This was an exception. I wish I knew this drive since Monday. Saw the schedule previously was on Friday 9th, which is working day. And today suddenly I see the date has changed to Saturday. Hoping the next drives are on Saturday or Sunday and firmly posted. Thankyou.
