Thanks @Frederic - this is undoubtedly one of the most diverse route i have been on, surely wouldn't have missed the chance to lead a drive here. Meeting Time: 7am Channel : 3 Drive Plan: In general as already shared by Frederic. Just one point to add - me and Fred have a bet on who will reach the destination later. No, we arent counting on your refusals 😀 but ability of convoy to find the most scenic spots and get some mesmerizing shots of nature. Ofcourse, being a big hearted person i am, i decided to give a head start to my old(er) brother 😘. So, make sure you are coming with your eyes wide open and cameras well set, as i dont want to lose this bet. Convoy Order (a bit re-ordered, to ensure we win). 1. Varun Mehndiratta in Maroob Rubicon 2. Miguel Codes- Jeep Red will be our SL 3. Misha Puskar - Jeep Wrangler 4D Grey 4. R K Ram - Xterra 5. Pacific - Jeep 2DR White at centre will be supporting the drive. 6. Charbel George Jeep White 7. Sebb - Safari White 8. Stan Wrangler 4D Green 9. Chris Wings in FJ Cruiser will be sweeping the convoy. See you all tomo. Take good rest and kill the snooze switch on your alarm clocks6 points

Good news to all waitlisted members ! @george charbel@Pacific@Andrei S@Misha Puskar@Rk ram@Stan@Chris Wing@Mark B@Hugo@Sebb CONVOY VARUN @Varun Mehndiratta has stepped up to lead a second convoy, leaving from the same starting point but 1 hour earlier so we dont have 20+ vehicles in the same area. So kindly confirm your attendance the coming hours, and acknowledge that 7AM starting time is fine. Do remember that this is a scenic drive and not a dunebashing drive, the aim is to enjoy the scenic views and terrain. I am sure you will all love it. You can use Channel 3 - 446.056 Mhz Have fun ! PS please deflate to around 15PSI and not lower to make sure you have no tyre damage from the road crossing and wadi part. Have fun !6 points

Good morning all, @Ishak @Tharun Kumar V @Krishna R @Charbel @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @Bjoern @Pierre de Maigret @Joseph Raju @Naim Aoun @Ignacio Quindós @Mehmet Volga Most of you have already driven in this area, so you know what to expect. Some portions of technical dunes as a warmup, progressively changing to long range high dunes perfect for ridge riding. Exit will be either looping back to the starting point, or on the E14, Abu Dhabi side. I will prepare the convoy order, and will issue latest details for the drive by the end of the day. Just let me know in case you changed your plans.5 points

Good Morning All ! Please find the convoy list for tomorrow here below: CONVOY FREDERIC @Richard Franks@DanielN@Juan [email protected]@Gary F@Rajat Verma@premindra rajaram@Mike M.@Joseph Sebastian@imranaasghar81 We will be using Channel 2 - 446.031 Mhz As this is a scenic drive, we will be using a lot of farm tracks, combined with wadis and a tiny bit of tarmac. I hope you understand this won't be a dune-bashing drive, but more of an exploration drive where we just enjoy the scenic terrains and mountain views. For that main reason, i would like you to all deflate to 15PSI and not lower, so we don't have a risk on tyre damage. We will put up our flags in the morning, but once we have crossed the main road and make our way to the wadis, you can remove your flag. We will be exiting in Asimah, a bit north of Masafi. After finishing the drive i highly recommend you explore Masafi a bit as it has nice shops, restaurants, and a 25dhs carwash if you need one See you soon !5 points

Dear Desertnauts. let's get ready for tomorrow's PM drive. MEETING POINT - you will reach the dirt track where we'll meet and deflate, just off the tarmac road leading from Qudra's gas station to the Bab al Shams Resort. Coming from Qudra, you will pass a couple of roundabouts on the way, and once arrived at roundabout #3 (there will be a mosque just off of it) you will briefly take the road back to Qudra, before exiting on the first available opening on the right of the road. Cross the bike track, and head to the dirt track past an open gate (the one on the right), and down it until the meeting point. DRIVING PLAN - around 2 and 1/2 hours of relaxed driving across Qudra's southern quadrant, searching for gazelles, possibly oryx, through low range dunes first, a couple of tighter "technical" areas then, and finally on taller long-range dunes, some flanked by dry mud-rock formations, until we'll reach the place where we'll have a short Yoga session by a natural desert lake, around sunset time. We'll bring tea and coffee, to enjoy with some dates, to relax after the Yoga. The exit road will be very close to the place where we'll practice Yoga, so it will not be a problem even if dusk will already have set in. THE YOGA PRACTICE - Our teacher, Paola Fantinato (https://instagram.com/paola_sadhaka_pi?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) is one of Dubai's trained and certified top professionals, with more than 5,000 hours of coaching experience. She will guide a relaxed practice to celebrate the sunset, tailored for every level, which anybody will be able to follow according to their own individual experience (or lack of it 😁). BRING A YOGA MAT, OR TOWEL, IF YOU DON'T HAVE A MAT, to use for the practice. Wear loose clothes, and a smile on your face !! CONVOY ORDER - as follows: @Sammy Six at Second Lead @nairanoopc at #3 @Patrick at #4 @Pavel Pashkovskiy at #5 @sohinik at #6 @Senthil Kumar at the Center of the convoy @Maheshwar at #8 @Klaus Pedersen at #9 @babaski #10 @Sami Sleiman at #11 @Arsalan Ehsan at #12 @Zulfikhar Naiyar in Sweep. RADIO CHANNEL - It will be chosen tomorrow just before the drive. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR OWN RADIO FULLY CHARGED. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow afternoon at 3PM (or a bit earlier to allow for a timely departure). FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE WELCOME2 points

As you all have learned the art of leading while navigating your way with GPS, now it's your chance to get ready for the ultimate test of skills. You will be learning the basics of leading in the desert in three different sessions: Advance sand reading, plan your lead, plan your exits. Use navigational software for selecting the right course of the path. How to plan and scale the lead and recoveries in the most grueling terrain. In this third session of leaders lead you will be leading through technical dunes with the help of off-road navigation app or device. And also learn to scale up or down the drive level difficulties as per convoy response. Prepare and mark these basic points and you will be required to reach any one or few of them: Entry and Exit Lisali camel track Lisali Fort Lisali technical dunes Murquab technical dunes Faqa long range dunes Faqa technical dunes Mark few play area in and around Lisali, Murquab and Faqa area. Just like any other sport or hobby, off road driving too has it's own etiquette's. Often times these are not spoken out loud or mentioned in public to not to embarrass anyone. If you like to continue off road driving, you should know these basic offroad driving etiquette's and follow them. Pay 100% undivided attention to the instructions: Whether it's in briefing or on radio communication while recovering, give your 100% attention and if you cannot due to some incoming call or passenger distraction, ask them to repeat. Most of the instructions are given so that you can drive safely. If you still live in the mobile world or loud music or radio volume turned down, you will miss out on critical safety instruction that can end up breaking your 4x4 or bones, seriously. Follow the instruction PRECISELY: From as simple as deflate to 12-14 PSI, drive in HI gear, engage to LO as soon as you get stuck. These instructions have been given to YOU for YOUR safety and enhancing your offroad driving experience. If you deflate to 22 PSI instead of 12, you will have endless refusals, stucks and A/T Transmission & Engine will soon overheat. If you don't engage on LO as soon as you get stuck, you will lose the most critical surface area in which LO gear could have saved the day, rather than toiling in HI gear for first few minutes and making the stuck even more worst for your car. Acknowledge the message: Always acknowledge the radio messages as the reliability of radio communication is highly questionable. Step out and help: When you are stuck and someone is helping you, it's a BASIC MANNER to step out of your car and help the Marshal or senior member who is helping you. You can help them clearing the sand, fixing the rope or inspect the stuck or plan of recovery. Sitting inside a stuck vehicle and waiting is the worst and most offending thing to do. If someone is helping you to check tire pressure, then step out and observe, how to delate to precise PSI. Disclaimer: In some 1% tricky angles or situation, if you have a doubt or difficulty to come out, ask the Marshal or senior member: If its safe for you to step out? Please don't assume and sit inside. Observe and learn: Every stuck and recovery has a lot to teach. Observe and learn from your stucks and discuss with Marshals how to not to get stuck again in a similar way. If you don't observe and learn you will end up doing the same mistakes over and over again. Learn Vs Serve: All the knowledge and experience are there to help you learn offroading and not just to serve you. So that as soon as you learn, you start practising it and become more capable offroader and be able to help others in the future.1 point

A safety flag is one of the most important safety items during desert driving. It improves your visibility to other vehicles, allowing convoy members and approaching vehicles to spot you well before reaching the top of a dune. Every off-roader is required to carry and use a proper safety flag on every drive. Flag Requirements Your safety flag must meet the following requirements: * Height: The flag should extend 2–3 metres (7–10 ft) above the roof of your vehicle. * Mounting: Install the flag vertically using a sturdy pole, preferably mounted to the roof or side window. * Visibility: The flag must remain upright and clearly visible throughout the entire drive. Approved Flag Types The following flag types are welcome: Solid colour flags National flags Sports team flags Charity or social cause flags Custom personal designs Not Permitted The following are not permitted: Towels, rags, torn cloth, safety vests or plastic bags used as flags Political or religious flags Flags representing other off-road clubs Commercial advertising or brand promotion flags Flags containing offensive language, symbols or images Respect the Club Your safety flag represents both you and the Carnity Offroad Club. Please choose a design that is respectful and appropriate for a family-friendly environment.1 point

Every offroad convoy has to follow these rules to keep moving the whole convoy safely at all times: Follow the car in front of you all the time. And also follow the path taken by that car (STRICTLY), until you learn to lead. As an occasional exception, if you see the car in front of you struggled or churn up the path, it is advisable to drive little left or right and then follow the same path again. Keep 5-10 cars distance all the time. Keeping it too close you will risk an accident and keeping it too long, you will lose the path. If you cannot see the car behind you, please stop and notify on the radio so that the leader can stop until they all catch up. Stick to your convoy numbering at all times, if changed due to some situation fall back to the same order as soon as you can but safely. If convoy is not moving due to some stuck / refusal, please be patient and stay safe at your designated position. No playing, side sloping or any breaking the convoy activities will not be tolerated. Radio communication is PRIME, listen and respond to it promptly all the time. Convoy positions Leader: The first car who leads the drive and everyone has to follow the leader instructions precisely with respect. Second lead: The second car in a convoy, who drives behind the leader and avoid or fix any unforeseen situation as it may happen. Everyone in the convoy needs to follow the "second lead" path like a magnet - at all times. Sweep: One or two cars at end of the convoy to help and recover stuck vehicles or advise the correct path after the refusal. Flying Sweep: This car can be anywhere to do the sweep duties of recovering stuck vehicle or coordinating the convoy movement.1 point
