  1. I am honored to announce we have promoted @Asif Hussain to Crew rank within Carnity Offroad Club! Asif has been amongst us from the start and a mentor to many offroaders. He has never been afraid to organize drives in remote terrains, but his meticulous planning always brought everyone back home safely. His technical skills, ability to keep a cool head in every situation, and his warm approach to mentoring others have never gone unnoticed. As a Crew member, Asif can now help us to develop the club further, carrying the club ethos of creating a family of likeminded adventurers, where we not just drive together, but we socialize, create friendships and bond, and become your second family in the UAE. CREW OFFROAD RANK The Crew Offroad Rank has been designed for senior offroaders who have consistently been driving with our club, while pushing the boundaries with new strategies, techniques, and a genuine heart for the club and its future. As a small core group, it aims to analyze the club progress, and heavily focuses on the growth, quality, and leadership. Crew members are also the ones who perform the leaders lead sessions and continue to mentor our new leads and supporting members.

  3. It’s been a while since I posted on Carnity. I still can’t believe Gaurav is gone. I was just talking to him recently. When I first heard the news I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t. We were the same age and he was taken from us far too soon. When I first came to Dubai more than 10 years ago, Gaurav was one of the first people I made friends with. We bonded over the love of cars and I eventually became involved with Carnity writing articles, how to diagnose and fix your car yourself, how to save money, things like that. When Carnity moved more to the 4x4 side of things, I kinda fell away. I’m more of a track and racing guy. Off roading scares the hell outta me and I have massive respect for what you guys do. I spent many hours in the garage with Gaurav, working on his Ship of Theseus Pajero, rebuilding engines, raising and lowering suspension, fitting coolers for random systems, discussing upgrades, and more importantly, discussing life over a few beers. He was always someone I could ask for an opinion on whatever crazy situation I was planning on getting into next and he would always give me an unbiased opinion. I have so many stories involving Gaurav, some good, some funny, but never bad. I will never forget when he got his new Range Rover and he wanted to show me the radar cruise control and we nearly ran into the back of a Nissan Sunny. Or when he showed me how to fishtail in a Mustang and we ended up facing backwards on Al Khail road. Fun times I will never forget. I will be out of the country this weekend but rest assured, I will be with you all in spirit. I am so happy that you guys will continue with Carnity. This is Gaurav’s legacy. Hundreds and hundreds of people connected forever because of the dream of one man. Gaurav bhai, gone but never forgotten. Barry

  4. Thank you so much for this honor. Carnity has been more than just an off-road club to me and it’s truly a family. I am deeply grateful for the trust, support, and friendships I have built along this journey. Being part of this amazing community and now stepping into the Crew role means a lot. I have learned so much from everyone here, and I will continue to give my best to support, mentor and grow together with all of you.

  7. I am honored to announce we have promoted @Ale Vallecchi to Crew rank within Carnity Offroad Club! A trailblazer and explorer pur sang, Ale joined us about eight seven years ago and immediately raised the bar for many of us leads. His innovative drive concepts, themes, and ideas have transformed the way we plan and execute drives immensely. His mentorship ability and the way he moves his FJ through the dunes effortlessly (it was hard to find a photo in the gallery 😁) is simply remarkable. It goes without saying that we are extremely thankful and proud for his efforts and time given back to our community, and the time has come for Ale to help us to strategize the future of Carnity and to keep innovating. Thank you Ale! On to another 300+ drives! 17. Absolutely well deserved, @Ale Vallecchi 👏 My very first Carnity drive was with you back on 31 December 2021 in the Labab area—and just last October, you joined my first drive as a lead following my promotion to Expert. I have great memories from many drives together: the learning, the fun, and your consistent enthusiasm and masterful driving style. This promotion to Crew is a natural next step—congratulations and very well earned!

  32. Dear @omarabbas I took the liberty to use ChatGPT and it came back with the following: 1) Home charging (most common) 6 Install a Level 2 AC wall charger at home (villa or some apartments) Typically charges overnight (6–10 hours depending on battery) Connected to your electricity provider (like DEWA in Dubai) 👉 This is the cheapest + most convenient option 👉 Many new buildings in UAE are already EV-ready 🏢 2) Public AC chargers (slow–medium speed) 6 Found in: malls (Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates) offices & residential areas hotels and public parking Usually Type 2 AC chargers (22–43 kW) Charging time: 2–6 hours 💡 Dubai alone has 300+ to 700+ chargers depending on how counted, with wide coverage across the city ⚡⚡ 3) DC fast chargers (quick top-ups) 6 Located at: petrol stations (ENOC / ADNOC) highways major roads Power: 50 kW up to 150+ kW Charge time: 20–45 minutes for ~80% 👉 This is what you’ll use on road trips or when in a hurry 🌍 4) Charging networks & apps Main network: DEWA Green Charger (Dubai Electricity & Water Authority) You can: scan QR codes use a charging card or pay via app There are 400+ DEWA chargers accessible via app/dashboard Other ways: Apps like Electromaps / PlusX help locate nearby chargers Cadillac’s own app can also help find stations 🏎️ 5) Tesla & third-party chargers Tesla Superchargers exist (mainly for Tesla, but some newer ones may support CCS) Many third-party chargers support CCS standard, which Cadillac EVs use 🔌 Compatibility (important for Cadillac) Cadillac EVs (GM platform): Use CCS Combo (Type 2 in Europe/UAE) → fully compatible with UAE chargers Can use: AC Type 2 public chargers DC CCS fast chargers 👉 So you won’t have compatibility issues in UAE 💰 Typical charging costs (Dubai) AC charging: ~AED 0.70/kWh DC fast: ~AED 1.20/kWh Some malls still offer free or limited free charging 🧠 Bottom line With a Cadillac EV in UAE, you can charge: 🏠 At home → daily charging (best option) 🏢 At malls/offices → while parked ⛽ At fast chargers → quick top-ups on the go 📱 Via apps/networks → easy access across the country 👉 And because Dubai alone has hundreds of chargers and growing fast, range anxiety is pretty low now.
