  1. Hi everyone! Thank you all for your suggestions, After a year of waiting, I finally received the all new 2024 Jeep Rubicon Xtreme Recon from Trading Enterprise in April. I'm excited to go on drives with you all, but I'm not sure how many kilometers I should drive before going off-road. Any suggestions?

  3. Thanks for joining on this great morning out ! @DP1011@Richard Franks@Martin M@Ben Lee@Andrew John Melvill@Ahmed Farouk@Vijay Cowlagi@Nizar Shawwa@Zubair@Islam Soliman@Prithvi Raj The weather was quite pleasant, and i hope this area brought some "change of scenery" to the off-roading game. The dunes were quite technical and as we had to make our way from North to South, we had a lot of straight crests to tackle. Of course that's part of the fun and i was caught a few times sitting on a crest myself You guys all drove fantastic, and as everyone reached early, we could do a quick briefing and leave on time. Thank you for that ! See you all soon in the sands again

  7. Good afternoon desert wanderers, @Aser, @Robk, @Gautam Banka, @Julien Recan, @Mark B, @Marek, @Deepak Eswar, @msa and @Luke K P, well what a fantastic drive we had today, started off with navigating the lake and the quad mire at the start, all those shining cars turned to mud splattered not so shinny ones in around 2 seconds :), we then completed 54.5 KM with an avg speed of 14.5 kmph and an avg moving speed of 23.2 KMPH and a maximum elevation of 242 m. Once we got going the drive was smooth and we clipped along at a fairly robust pace with just the odd refusal and reattempt until my ridge riding cresting. the shovels quickly and easily took care of that thanks to the team who deployed them quickly and used them like experts. We then started the pop out fest part of our journey with a total of 3, not a record but still enough to give us the practice we need to become F1 pit crew. we continued on and had a couple more refusals until our second stuck of the day on an straight up and over crest, Mark and Luke took care of this with their expert rope handling skills and we were soon on our way. Great second Lead by @Aser well don my friend you did an amazing job, stopping were you saw me struggling and following the instructions perfectly to the tee. Luke in his beautiful new Raptor Powered beast brought up the rear and did a fantastic job informing me all the way round of how the rear of the convoy was doing and keeping us all together, always a pleasure mate, love the new wheels and the new flag, we always know where you are from the sound of the raptor and the sight of the two massive flags you not sport. Our CF today @Mark B did an amazing job keeping the middle intact, as well as support and directing the few refusals and the couple of pop outs we had. Great job as always good to watch you grow into the support role as I see your confidence growing. Once again well done to all and have a great rest of your weekend.

  8. Good afternoon guys ! @Richard Franks@Martin M@Zak_@Andrew John Melvill@lucas amat@DP1011@Ben Lee@Sandeep Nayar@Prithvi Raj@Vijay Cowlagi@Nizar Shawwa@Zubair@Ahmed Farouk@Hani Howeedy@Islam Soliman With the hotter weather, it will be crucial to arrive on time so we can move on time. Please ensure to arrive by 06AM latest. This means it's advisable to arrive by 5:45 so you have time to deflate, greet the other team members, and get your flag up. It's a larger convoy for a typical Fewbie drive, so my aim will be to try and cover some good ground. With the expert support and help of @Islam Solimanand @DP1011 i am sure we will be having a great morning out. We will use Channel 2: 446.031 Mhz. See you all in the morning ! PS if you are coming from Dubai on the E66, you might witness the amazing sunrise on the left hand side from behind the Oman mountains !

  9. Dear Desert Drivers, thank you for joining the drive today. First difficulty was to reach the meeting point through the mud pond... but there was a way around. Same once we were into the desert. High dunes where all around us, in the first portion, and we have always found the way to go around or to pass through. Great skills around, as you had to manage the balance and momentum of your car to get you on the top of that dune, or to pass over that ridge. We had also a few high climbs, and 1 or 2 bowls to play with, great opportunities to push our cars, understand the acceleration required to climb, and to maintain the balance and ability to turn. Going down showed to be challenging also, as we had 2 cars stuck on a crest, and a pop-out in the steep descent after the break. In the second part of the drive, we had smaller technical dunes before reaching the sabkha, and nice rolling dunes to quietly finish the drive, spotting big groups of camels. All in all, a nice desert experience, and a great way to start the weekend! @Wilfredo Perez, thank you for the 2nd lead, adjusting my route when needed, @jinoy well done for your 2nd drive, continue to work on understanding the balance and energy of the car. @Giacomo, great driving, @Victor Socaciu very well done for your first drive with us, you will fully enjoy the blue jeep. @Rajath Shetty @Walter Palk @nithish468, the FJ gang, no issue at all, @Adam Black the long truck was crested only once, great job! @ChrisW @Martin M @Ahmed Farouk @Julian Patterson you were really comfortable in the drive today, well done. Big thank you for the support of @Benjamin @Joji varghese @Gary F always around when needed, with clear instructions to guide cars safely out of precarious situations. Waiting for your feedback and pictures in the gallery. Enjoy the rest of the weekend

  11. Hi RizBajwa, Welcome to the club. For an old Pathfinder, you're best bet is just do some googling for an economical rear locker. For the money, I went a Powertrax No-Slip unit in my old Cherokee XJ. Fantastic little unit, cheap, and because it's an auto-locker, it's essentially 'always ready'. It only kicks in when one wheel starts to spin with no need to engage on my part. My theory was... when I need locking, it's already too late to engage it. And it directly swaps with the spider gears, so easy to pull back out and return to oem if needed. Any diff locks that require engaging are going to cost money and complications, as they require either an electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic system to support. It just depends on budget, as you say... ARB can be pricey. For workshops, I've used Icon 4x4 in Dubai. They work on anything (no joke), are dedicated to the offroading market, and their team is solid.

  12. @Prithvi Raj, @Shiju Raju, @Stumpy, @khlief, @Sandeep Nayar, @Andrew John Melvill, @Zak_, @Anoop Nair, @Danny G The last time: When we did this drive three months ago; it was a Fewbie Plus drive. It had rained few days earlier so the dunes/terrain were quite firm. It was a fast and fun drive, please check out below video from that drive. The terrain: This time however the dunes will be mostly dry. We all know that Tawi Nazwa - Big Red area is a favorite among desert safari guys and traverse these dunes so often that it is full of cross tracks. The preparation: Take adequate rest and arrive a bit early so that you don't rush into getting ready in the last minutes. You will need full concentration in this drive. The expectation: This drive will be slightly faster than you are used to till now. It will also involve a lot of short sharp turns and loops among the dunes. We expect everyone to adhere to the briefing that will be given in the start of the drive. We won't waste a lot of time - a quick drive and an early exit is what you should expect. till we loop in the dunes; you all take care...

  13. Congrats ! That's a beautiful beast ! I think 400-500km on-road perhaps to get everything to settle. As you will be starting with Newbie drives first i believe its not an issue at all.

  14. Was here last Sunday with loop. Incredible area with almost no tracks. Looong Sideys and great place for fewbies to become confident in crisscrossing and ridge riding. Could we perhaps also plan in heading slightly south east after entry to get a taste of the taller dunes there Davie? Regardless, it will be a great drive. See you all then.

  17. Great drive today everyone. Really good fun. I hope I got some good footage before my camera over heated and turned off!! Will post what I managed to capture later in the week. Even though the sun felt brutal, mine and Asers cars were just reading 32 & 31. I definately need to invest in a wide brimmed hat 🤠 🤠 🤠 Some nice scenery and loved doing the criss crossing 👍👍👍👏👏👏 Thanks @Davie Chase @Mark B @Aser for managing us all and getting us out in one piece! @Julien Recan I hope you can get the diff lock sorted quickly! @Deepak Eswar here is a link to some conversations about Jack options when I needed to buy one. Any Jack is better then no Jack though! 😜 Enjoy your week ahead everyone and hope to see you again soon!!!

  19. Hi @Paurav My two cents: 1. Get the 2008 Prado fixed outside the dealership. It's not surprising that the Toyota dealer is more interested in selling you a new one. Seems like either they lack the expertise or time to really look into it. 2. Get the 2020 Sahara fixed. On a car this new this is definitely not normal, but Jeeps are sensitive to wheel balance and alignment. This can be fixed. They are fantastic off-road vehicles. The pickup you are longing for could be perhaps a Ford Ranger Raptor, but in any case i advise you to sort out fixing your existing vehicles properly, so you can at least get a good price for it. It now sounds you've given up on both vehicles.

  21. @Gurcharan Mehta, @Batuhan Kulac, @Beide Worku & @Jona hope to see you all tomorrow morning. Since it is a small convoy; I will declare the order tomorrow itself. Please note that we will cruise on Ch 2 tomorrow. The plan of action would be to end the drive at Tilal Sweihan starting at Fayah.

  22. We will initially see a lot of long-range dunes; they are not very tall but will give us opportunity to be quick, which of course we are going to be. Next, we will have some very tall but narrow dunes. They are super technical and on a hot day very soft as well. They will test us on our skill of not getting stuck. By now we should know where not to apply gas, because if we are not moving forward, we are going down sinking ourselves. Please note that there is one lone fuel station on the way that is a bit away from the meeting point. Not many refreshments available there, so stock up before you move from your homes.

  31. The track might look like that of FB+ drive we did in September; but the speed was much higher. The area was pristine; there were not any tracks there; except from some faded ones here and there; so, we had entire area to ourselves. It was a relentless drive and never before that I took a break so early out of exhaustion from driving. There were some very technical areas, but the last bit was especially tough. It is best done at the start of the drive instead towards the end. Great performance behind the wheels by @Jona at the second lead; @Gurcharan Mehta on his first IM, @Batuhan Kulac - he is getting hang of my driving & @Beide Worku at the sweep, who came after a long break but fresh. Thank you all for joining the drive and see you next time looping somewhere in the desert.

  32. Dear @Brett Eicher, @Mahmut, @Shaun J, @W a q a r, @Mahesh_ , @Cristian, @Amir Amiri it was a pleasure seeing you all yesterday and i hope you enjoyed the Rollercoaster drive as promised. Altough there have been alot of vegetation in some unexpected areas, but we managed to have fun over all. @Brett Eicher i was happy to see you after our last year yellow truck adventure 😁 and i really like what you have done to your car. Thank you for for being a great S/L with with full attention and immediate respone to my advice. Thanks @Bjoern, and @Rob S for the amazing support of the convoy and being my eyes as the back @Bjoern you owe me a coffee (or schnapps 😬 ) and a doughnut for making me spend 1:30 hours trying to add you to the manage tab 🤣😂 Looking forward to see you all on the next one 😀

  34. Learn offroading from Youtube or Instagram videos - "ONLY" People buying 4x4 think they are entitled to drive on sand without an understanding of how vehicle dynamics or weight distribution works in the sand. Answer: Too fast for crisis-crossing without managing the weight distribution correctly. Wish there was a real video than a hand movement explanation to really help.

  36. Also, the above parts changed were OEM or performance or fake, as fake aftermarket parts will not work much during peak summer heat on high mileage vehicles that have clocked 400+K. Check the air circulation in front of grill and move away any modification or obstruction from front grill. Even small obstructions can cause big problems, I faced one very recently, simply by oversight. Check AC condenser fins aren't bent or dirty, if blocked, get a good pressure wash of AC condenser and radiator, that helps most of the time, as a first step to identify the root cause. If you are using Mitsubishi 50/50 coolant, you can try 30/70 coolant (it's a special order, almost the same price) but has more water that helps dissipate heat better.

  37. I agree with Fredy, if needed you can sell Prado to buy something newer for road or daily comfort with the listed features. And get the Wrangler fixed as it's one of the best offorader from the factory floor, you can safely use that for off-road adventure, be it twice a year or twice a month (after you taste your first true desert adventure). On a side note, if you are mentally sold for pickup, no harm, but remember you can't use privately owned pickup for commercial jobs - better check that point with RTA or dealership.

  39. Is your clutch fan functioning like it's supposed to? Normally when the engine temperature goes up the fan speed needs to increase to compensate for the lack of natural air flow. One easy way to check is when the engine is cold to rotate the fan. If it rotates smoothly, that means the fan needs to be replaced. A good condition clutch fan will have rotational resistance when engine is cold
