Sorry to say that but the only thing I didn't like in this is the name itself, as Gurkha name is often used for security guards and watchman for buildings, banks, school and offices. Secondly, instead of touching some specific regiment or tribe name, they could have created something more generalized name like Defender, Cruiser, Warrior, Trail.....bla bla something.

Instead of mimicking G Wagon, it resonates a lot with Defender styling and ZERO comfort feel. I agree the price is a killer indeed for well built tough (hope so) 4x4x4 ROTFL

I agree with what you said but only to a very limited extent. Buying brand new car is good for people who absolutely have no knowledge of cars, no time to spare and last but not least zero risk taker. However, I believe in buying 4-5-year-old luxury marque at the price of brand new Camry or Accord and drive for 2 years with minimum maintenance cost and limited depreciation - unlike when brand new. All car in my signature is a testament to this theory and I never lost more than 20% in depreciation for 2 years of ownership. Secondly, when buying slightly used car, you are more free to try new stuff or experiments than fitting the K&N will void the warranty. I even remember buying a non-working Jeep Grand Cherokee on recovery truck for 5K because it has V8 magnum grunt for off-road and then sold off for 6K after spending 3K to make it in running condition. The project car is always a gamble and more you learn the better you get in taking shots as per your need and expectations. And sometimes you simply get lucky by chance, in my case I bought 3.0 Pajero for wifey while I was having a 4.5 liter Nissan patrol. Once I sold that Patrol, I thought of testing that 3.0 Pajero in sand and to my surprise I was chasing a modified Jeep Wrangler of a seasoned off-roader in sweihan and that 4x4 never died. After fully testing I started searching for 3.5 liter (my present Pajero) as in that year 3.5 + SWB was extremely rare. For an offroad project car remember that Power - Weight ratio is king, I even remember maintaining an excel sheet from wikipedia stats of knowing which car has better hp/ton. That's why you see old Nissan Patrol sticking LS1 engines than any other car as it is the lightest shell with reasonable safety aspects to bump up the power to get the best power-weight ratio.

Remember you might scrap few projects before reaching the perfect one. I scrapped 5 to be precise and learned from failure at every level. Always remember to not to overspend on any project until you are fully convinced.

Indeed it looks nice and awesome, and also off-road ready with the big tires, lift, roof rack, additional lights etc. Just make sure that engine has a bit of life left and not clocked 300+ kms or engine shouldn't have some trin trin (bearing noise) of knocking (piston hitting) at high revs or doof doof blocked valve noise at low revs. From the looks, it seems Pajero brother so I assume it's using many parts from Mitsu factory. Is this 3.0 or 3.5? Check if its running 6G72 (3.0) or 6G74 (3.5) engine? If 6G72 you are still in luck to plonk clean engine in less than 4-5k. If 6G74 it's most potent engine but impossible to find it clean even for 7-10k.

Nice post, but his first explanation contradict his first point itself - unbalanced tires. And, one of the most important point missed here for any DW is few kgs of sand inside the tire after a pop-out. Spend 20 dhs and get it cleaned and balanced before going through above points.

Repeating the exploration and endless mind-boggling fun of 12 Jan drive from Al Wagan, by justing taking the good part and re-living those most awesome moments to experience all of UAE best dunes collected in one place - aka - Al Wagan. The plan is to get to the meeting point at Mosque and start immediately after the Friday prayers. All drivers should get the tank full of petrol before reaching the meeting. All passengers and driver should eat lunch or breakfast prior to arriving at the meeting point. Bull bar and LED bulbs are strict no no from RTA passing point of view. LED bar is also no but you can get away by getting it removable cover. Tires life depends of tire tread offered by the manufacturer. Every tire is different and some last for 20-30k (Dunlop / Bridgestone) and other goes up to 60k (Michelin). I had BFG in my Patrol and they def look awesome but they are very heavy and very noisy. I definitely do not recommend them, unless you have serious engine mod as they restrict your off-road climb capabilities to a greater extent. Also, you need a very loud sound system or noise canceling headphone to counter the tire noise (I'm serious). I have done a couple of Liwa with 3+ hour road drive and I went almost deaf after that and kept on hearing humming for few hours. Heavy tires will also sip extra fuel. Instead, you can go for Yokohama Geolander A/T having nice moderately aggressive tread that looks good and offers AWESOME off-road (Sand + Rock) performance and just produces tad extra noise than highway tread, which is acceptable. I'm using them for 5 years and changed to the second set of same tires last year. Many regular off-roaders have opted for same and you can verify that by checking the majority of FJC, Xterra, Cruisers, Patrols and Pajero running with them now even more than before. Spacers are a good add-on for increasing the stability if you have a too high lift but just make sure you go with a good branded one and not fake / cheap ones as they wobble and impossible to balance correctly.

Im using Hero 5 for about a year now, and so far very happy. I'm always being a Sony fan and did compare both before buying and opted for Hero 5. Never heard about SJcam, but if it's dirt cheap then give it a try.
