  1. @Kailas nice see you are a marshall. I completely forgot that I have some guests coming tomorrow and most likely we will have to wait for their covid test result before we exit the house. While I don't want to put anybody in danger or brake any laws, I find myself in a position where I cannot join. If there is nobody else on the waiting list, I would like to stay on the list, just in case the stars allign and I can join

  2. Great one @Frederic. Always a pleasure to drive with you. The drive was more technical rather than fun but we need some of those sometimes.
We had quite a "colorful" crowd this time and it was nice to see the Discovery and F150 handling the dunes. @Wrangeld definitely needs to do something about that radio 😀. Richard, I might in Dragon Mart soon. Let me know if you want me to get you a Baofeng UV5r. They are around 70 aed and they do the job quite well...

I will be adding some photos to the gallery sometime soon

PS: It was sad to see some of the participants not wearing their masks specially towards the end of the drive when we had longer waits or we were inflating tyres. Are we still wondering if the virus exists?

Thanks for the drive @Frederic and support leaders .My learning from this drive has come at the cost of a broken bumper .When the convoy moved in the dark the car ahead moved away quicker than me .I tried to follow by sight as tracks were not visible so I ended up going over a ridge and hard fall .Luckily the jeep behind me saw this a veered left .I accept its my fault to drive by sight, I should have stopped and radioed for assistance to see the path. A suggestion for group in the dark is to move out slowly with cars following each others tracks to avoid what happened with me .Now for a police report , insurance claim and repairs .. is there any guidance for accidents in the desert to be reported to the police .Would appreciate. Thanks .

@Andrei I was there when you had this so called discussion . Its fair to say the same person actually saved your vehicle from catching fire , hence saving you loads of money and he actually explained you in a calm way. Sometimes it is good to take experienced advices in a way that is for your own benefit and safety. My two cents.

@JJ, I assume you are talking about the getting stuck incident just before stopping 3 weeks ago. If you do, I did take advice properly. He was right on the manual handling and because I was exhausted and needed a break, I let him handle the car to get it out of there. I recognize the experience and respect it. I even started driving the car daily to work just to get back on track with the full clutch release, in line with his advice. I also thanked him and you both on the drive post.

This is not the point and frankly discussions like this are not why I joined this group. I am telling you there is a problem in the way he talks to others and this post is the living proof it is not only me who saw/felt it.

You can choose to ignore or do something about it.

  5. Sorry to interject gents, but even without being part of this "problematic" drive I fully understand what the members are saying about the communication problems.

I did not have an issue with a mask but had a discussion with the same person and hated with a passion the approach and decided never to join his events.

We love the drives, we understand the rules and if anybody forgot a mask I am pretty sure it was unintentional and he is sorry but you also need to understand that if a few of us now raised the same issue, it is probably real. The Hall of Shame thing is an exact description of the approach and it is not only applied for CoVid-19 related.
Let's try to chill a bit and apply some common sense both ways

Peace out and see you in the sand
