Prufster Posted July 16, 2012 Report Share Posted July 16, 2012 Hi there, Black smoke means too much fuel is going into the engine or that the fuel is not being burned properly. What Rover do you have? I have the same problem on my Discovery 2 and after on line research found that should be the MAF sensor that is either dirty or damaged. If your car has O2 sensors, could also be that they need replacement. You should get it fixed because it is drinking too much fuel and it also not healthy for the engine too run like that.
