Great day, but a little spoiler as I got delayed due to car starting troubles. My sincere thanks to @skumar83 / @Asif Hussain and @EmVarlet for taking the floor and presenting the most important information for anybody joining for the first time. By the time I reach everybody was edging to get into the sands and was looking forward to the drive. After a quick deflation and convoy numbering we were off. A big thanks to @BIG T for being my second lead, he understood the terrain very well and managed teh second lead position with great application of whatever has been thought to him so far. Thanks to @Per A for being an absolute fantastic passenger to @Asif Hussain and was open to discuss about his new ride to be. @srini62 just amazed me with his new form in the desert, I was surprised to see him keep up all the way. Thanks to @g.huz and @yogic for being enthusiastic and willing to learn. Special thanks to @hossein for bringing his family out for some off-road fun. It was a quick 40 minutes ride to Pink Rocks and everybody injoyed climbing the Pink Rocks in one go. Here the level was increased slightly and everybody managed well right until our little corner for snacks and chats. Everybody bought so many food types it was difficult to decide which one to have first. After we packed up Asif bhai hadd to leave, but the rest we still edging to get 30 - 40 minutes more in the desert, except for Taimur and his brother who were ready for another 5 hours drive. So we played around the Big Red. Just at the time we were supposed to exit we saw 3 girls who were struggling with a van, so we all got together and helped them out and on their way back with a generous smile. Loved the day, the drive, the people, the food and everything in between. until next time Adios Amigos.

Generally garages in Sharjah and Ajman would be cheaper than Dubai. But the million dollar question is whether it's a good mechanic or not

2000 Jeep Cherokee. You dont need to worry if anything happens to it. Simple i was leaving it inside the construction site with bunch of trucks and machines around it. With my new benz i am parking 2 blocks away to keep it safe. When i was driving Cherokee i was the trouble guy on the road. No need to flash, people will move if you get enough close or just think there is no one infront of you sure it will be empty soon. With benz i am the tiny car between all Patrols and Cruisers. You can save the people got stuck on the beach. Many many things. Oh god that was the best car i have ever had.

100k service would mean timing belt, spark plugs, and maybe spark plug cables according to the Pajero Service Manual on top of your regular maintenance. Low cost and good quality are a bit of an oxymoron. A decent service will always cost a bit but the stealerships will take more than independent workshops. Depending on where you live you can have a look at the workshops listed here on Carnity that could/should give you a member price and you can check the google reviews on the nearby workshops and make some phone-calls to enquire if they are servicing Mitsubishi Pajero. Since we don't have warranty issues with tow ropes, I source from a friend in the ship business. It's AED 350 for Viking tow rope with 2 soft shackles, gloves and a bag. The AOR shackles alone cost AED 100 each.

What was the most fun car you ever owned? Ive had a lot of fast and expensive stuff, but the most fun car I’ve ever owned was a 1.1 Peugeot 106. Paid £50 for it at a scrapyard so all mechanical sympathy went out the window. I didn’t care if it broke or got crashed. Wasn’t even a nice one, it was a snot green 5 door. Had a lot of fun thrashing the tiny engine and listening to it scream for help in narrow mountain passes, putting it on 2 wheels at every opportunity. Was a little beast for lift off oversteer. What killed the fun was cutting the top and bottom of the steering wheel off to make it like KITT from Knight Rider and basically turning it into a boat tiller. Driving with anything less than a full steering wheel is difficult to say the least.

You are still imagining. And unfortunately rav will never be on that list. To even qualify to be on the list you need to be a proper 4x4, with a low ratio transfer case.

Rav is in hibernation this winter. So it must be your imagination

Yes, you can make up blanking plates and block everything off. Have a look on eBay, there are blanking kits available for a lot of cars, search EGR delete and your particular model. The EML might come on but any good tuning shop will be able to edit the ECU and take the EGR out of the main program.

A faulty EGR valve can cause overheating. The associated pipework can block up too and also cause overheating. It’s a nasty system and the main purpose is to get cars past emissions regulations. Look at it this way, your engine burns fuel then tries to get rid of the smoke out the exhaust. The EGR then puts some of that smoke back into the engine to try to burn it again. Which means you could be pumping carbon, oil and all other sorts of nasty crap back into your engine again, which can never be a good thing. While not strictly legal, often the best thing to do, especially on Diesel engines, is to blank off all the EGR components, and if it’s a newer car, have it mapped out of the ECU.

That 96 2k Rav is a hot cake seen them most on uaq and rak and ajman side I myself know of 8 homes having that exact shape or coupe of Rav which comes out when it's raining although most are with expired registration As we go towards the Sharjah dxb side then the count is high for the shanabs and Hilux I am not biased never here or anywhere else have I recommended anyone to get a Rav for off roading use but have implimented that whatever you have at hand will do and myself would love to get my hands on a Jeep Cherokee until time permits it's Rav which is gonna row me there

In simple words, if you already own 2.7 you can learn offroading and then move to a better and more capable vehicle. If you are planning to buy and offroading is one of the agenda - 4.0 is MUST. @sertac over 80% "stock" 4x4 vehicle - Including Land Cruiser, Pajero, Patrol, Defender, Discovery, Pathfinder CANNOT climb faya from the front side. Faya, due to its steepness and height is most difficult dune after Iftar bowl and Bid Red in Sharjah. I would really doubt if 2.7 fortuner or Prado can climb from backside cheat route even.

As @sertac posted the 2.7 is capable, but lacks power in certain areas, newbie drives should be fine, Fewbie it will struggle but survive, but no way in an intermediate or extreme level.

Well from my humble experience, I think Pajero should be on your list considering the price. Don't get me wrong, I love the jeep and the looks as well. However, I am a family guy and I do use my car for offroading in the desrert. Need few things to consider: 1- 3.8L engine and not less, the car is a tank and needs the power + rear differential. 2- You need to add few costs before the car is offroad ready (so you don't damage your car!). We are talkign around additional 9000 AED. 3- Short wheel base would be best (I have long wheel base). 4- Need to change your stock suspensions. The suspensions are too soft and whould cause your car to dip into the sand easly. Even better, you may want to consider a 2" lift. 5- Skid plates (espectially rear) is a must! 6- Not best serveice at the dealer. Worshop repairs takes too long. 7- Dealer is very strict about thier warranty. 8- Car is great ride! 9- Consider shaving the front bumper fins (drags in the sand if car is not lifted).

Sorry everybody Defender and Pajero in Sand dunes is not so good in my opinion, as I see these off road rides on weekly basis.
