The 3.0 6G72 SOHC engine which i have in mine is not the same as Gaurav his 3.5 Mivec DOHC beast, which is super rare. Id love to add some horses to my ride too and that was on my bucketlist, but after a head gasket blowout, followed by a complete rebuild I’ve tucked away those plans and decided to spend my time in getting the best out of the car by driving smart and taking peace with what i have. An underpowered car can be a blessing sometimes, and once you’ll see what @Rahimdad does with his 3.3, And @shadow79 with his RAV4 you will be amazed 😉

Most of the time I’ve been here I’ve been travelling on the metro. Apart from the stinky people who never wash and wear the same clothes every day and make you physically gag when they stand beside you, the people who insist on watching tiktok videos on their phone at max volume, the people with coconut oil covered hair who seem to want to rub it on my fresh white linen shirt, the people who stand at the door and refuse to move, the people who try to push you back into the train when you’re trying to get out, the Botox jumeirah janes with the fake boobs who insist on discussing last nights partners penis size on loudspeaker so everyone can hear, it has been a dream. You leave home at the same time every day, you get to work at the same time every day. It’s as reliable as a Karama Rolex. Ive always heard my friends talking about driving to work during crotch goblin delivery hours, aka school bus time, but I thought meh, it can’t be that bad. WOW! I started driving here at the start of the summer. I was so happy I could get to work in 15 minutes, 10 on a good day. Less if you know where the speed cameras are. My journey has increased to 45 minutes of pure traffic hell mingling with some of the most horrible, uncivilised drivers on the road. Constant honking and flashing, people trying to push you out of your lane, people who seem to be set out and hell bent to have an accident from the moment they woke up. If I stuck to my regular route, this journey would take an hour but luckily I spent some time over the summer learning the back streets and shortcuts. Seriously considering going back to public transport for commuting and keeping the car for night time cruising when all the Generation Z whippersnappers are safely locked up in their safe spaces.

@Jas Gajaria its not the simple to gain 30-40 hp and in UAE mods are also something that can cause problem during passing, so be very careful at what you are planning and discuss here before you invest in anything. Secondly, it is not about the 30-40 extra hp, its about how the car delivers it to you and your advantage. Thirdly, always try and work on your skills with a lower end car than trying to mod it and make it more powerful. I see you have signed up for the drive tomorrow morning, hoping to see you and catching up more on this topic to try and understand why you need the extra hp.

Thanks Guys! All of the valid points were already considered, but now that I think of it having THAT much power will only make the types spin like crazy in the sand. Which defeats its purpose. I am going the alternate route and just building up the current engine to get 30-40 HP more. Should be plenty Cheers, Jas

I'm blessed. Shifting did the trick. It used to take me minimum 75 minutes to reach work after paying all Salik, from my new place it takes me 35 minutes with all the school buses on the roll.

This school bus stop sign is very useful for safety BUT it should be used only if kids, nanny or parents are crossing to the other side of the road. Rather than holding the traffic when kid is going in same direction of the bus door.

Near my house it is very dangerous as there are no stops and buses have to stop in the last lane. For one it is blocking the whole traffic and secondly it is dangerous for kids to be boarding a bus which is stopped in moving lane. I felt there is a need for special bus lanes like in Europe where normal traffic is not affected and at the same time it is safe for the buses to stop and pick up or drop off passengers. However not hopeful about Sharjah as all the building are so close to the road that there is no more space to increase the lanes, let alone have a special bus lane.

I have had the sluggish Pajero (Trademark) acceleration issue too and after doing all of the above I felt a big difference and finally settle for this much as they are reversible and RTA friendly.

For more instant acceleration with "marginal" power gain I will suggest: Straight free flow exhaust pipe Borla or Magnaflow muffler. K&N filter Platinum spark plugs Relatively cheaper, no long term damage and RTA friendly mods to give you at least 75% on what you want.

Yes, It's same 6G74 DOHC 3.5 Engine that comes in Pajero EVO BUT BUT BUT without Mivec head that could make this stock engine from 225 HP to 260 HP. So Im half lucky, as I can't register Pajero EVO here in UAE (right hand). Who is putting this crappiest idea in your mind....? I'm seriously curious to know. Rebore, 3.8 to 4.1 for fuel economy.....? It's going to suck more fuel buddy.

@Jas Gajaria, hahahahaha. Same here pal. My Pathy sucks on road, it takes time to accelerate on highways and if you push the pedal the fuel just evaporates. I learned to live with it and reach where ever I need to be a few seconds late. Honestly i am not a big fan of modification and from what I have seen it messes you up more and requires more maintenance than a stock vehicle.

@Gaurav you have the Pajero EVO ENGINE?!?!?!? You're one lucky guy I love the Pathy's! They are amazing because of the gearing in them, 3 Speed. All the car's will perform with skill. My main reason for the power is honestly just on road driving, the acceleration is pretty crappy so in the city after signals I have to give quite a bit of raise to get to 80, which in turn kills my fuel economy.

if you have time and are crazy enough to handle the heat then you can stroke that engine of pajero to upto 6.2

I consider myself a very patient driver, but sometimes bite into my steering wheel from all the idiots I see on the road and do not seem to grasp the ability to: - stay in their lane - take a roundabout like they should - leave their phone alone for 5 mins - tailgating others and think that’s normal - thinking that their bigger car does NOT mean we should move for them. I gladly take a longer route every day via the E611 that takes me 15 mins longer to reach, but without too much stress.

Nice Metro description - with worlds longest sentence. And School hours are crushing everyone. That's why I dont plan to leave office or home during school bus hours, it simply double up the traffic on road and slow down the usual flow.

Range Rover is a different engineering and you can't compare them with Japanese TBH. Secondly, V8 is always better in fuel mileage than V6 if you do lot of highway miles. Here are my ex and present cars average fuel economy: Porsche Cayenne 4.2 V8 Turbo - 18.7L/100 Mustang V8 5.0 - 13.9L/100 Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged - 17.1L/100 Trailblazer 4.2 - V6 - 16.3L/100 Pajero 3.5 - V6 - 18.8 L/100

Same way like the Range Rover, I too have a RRSC, that gives me 500Km on 70 liter tank and Pajero 300 on 60 liter. RR has 5.0 but becuase of less throttle to get you at speed you save fuel

Half Lucky still good! When I increase power, I won’t feel the need to push the car as hard trying to accelerate.

When the Project starts ill keep a thread on the group with its progress! I know for a fact that the 3.0 which is in yours and Gaurav's have heads straight from an EVO 7-8, so just a port and polish you'll easily make 15-20 HP. I will be reboring the engine, 3.8L-->4.1L, along with this I'll be changing the Pistons and making the Crankshaft Lighter (Higher Revs). This said After the addition of Headers, Exhaust, Cold Air Intake and a Unichip Tune I should be able to get the Engine HP from 215 (Stock) to approx 245-260.

In modern cars you could run higher octane which would increase power and fuel mileage, depending on choice of octane you go with. In older cars there’s no power to be gained on higher octane as they were designed to run with 85 or 87 or 90 Octane so getting 91 (eplus) or 95 (special) is plenty.

how do you explain when we tossed a turbocharged engine in place of a NA engine and the car is in the name of wafed it's passed the test last 2 times and probably should be due this year too... there is ways to do swaps one that blows the whistle and other in which its done as it was before... you can do many swaps and still the car will be perfectly road legal and no one will be pointing a finger at you... i have mentioned some and there are more if someone is interested...

100% WRONG buddy, RTA has a clear instruction for engine swap V6 - V6 and I4 - I4 ONLY. In extreme cases they can borderline accept slightly higher cc but it has to be in same cyl. range. When i busted my 3.5, they told me max I can go is 3.8 V6 of modern Pajero but without altering the engine mounts.

I have had talks about this matter as far as they were concerned no chassis alteration no high sounds any fuel type no problems it will pass without any issues...

A V6 in a 4cyl is not street legal. Try swapping it out and then registering your car without pulling any strings

who said there is no v6 option for rav4 you can fix a mz engine to the old ravs it matches the mounts and also the gearbox housing bolts only you have to get creative with the exhaust manifolds and not to mention those celica cuts which have turbos oem fixed 3s gte which is also a bolt on application only needs some fabrication work on exhaust and in both cases the rta shouldn't have any issues as the chassis is left intact... not to mention the later models introduced v6

Yep that's precisely my point, you need to reinforce the rest of the drivetrain because it is obviously not designed for the hp and torque generated by the new engine and transmission. If you have the money for an LS swap, RTA is the least of your concerns this would need to be taken in and out from the sand with a trailer, unless the shop has really good wasta (or however you write it) and can register the car.. we all know there are exceptions for everything, including a simple RTA registration.

Hey Yas ! Welcome back ! And one serious topic to start off with 😆. I have seen some stuff on Instagram and had a look at some foreign forums a year back for the same reason. From what I’ve seen there is no straight simple swap to one of these engines, and if you find the capable guy to do so, you’re probably looking at a 40k AED job or even much higher. On top of that RTA will not pass this so you won’t be able to register the car anymore. My two cents: you’re currently driving a 3.8 which is a very capable off-roader. What would be the main reason for the upgrade ? Don’t get me wrong i also think it’s super cool to have a beast like that, but you should consider that many people do these engine swaps without upgrading cooling systems, brakes, safety devices, which makes the car a death ride and not suitable for long off-road drives, rather for going on Faya and showing off. The risk of tipping over and serious incidents is much higher too. I guess you don’t want to end up on a YouTube channel called “UAE desert Fails” or something. if anyone could pull it off, it would be @Barry

Ya true there will be waiting time for around 2 months and above for that it’s better to chose the car which doc are readily available, and the most importantly u need to keep some budget for onroad readiness

In Turkey people are using those Dusters. They are performing beautifully. But the Dusters there have 1.5 turbo diesel engine and manuel gearbox. In here 2.0 gasoline engine and auto gearbox it wont be same.

Underpowered imho. We should ask @Barry if he could throw in a Clio Williams engine or RS engine in it. Would make a nice little project 😂

Renault duster 4x4 also fall under 20k have seen few guys driving off-road not sure about the performance
