This being my first drive after my unfortunate roll over incident 2 weeks ago, was mentally challenging at first as we encountered some rather tricky dunes right from the get go. Added to that, i was driving a friends vehicle so I had some default inhibitions as well. But however, once we proceeded further down the route, I started getting a hang of the vehicle and the track and I found myself having a lot of fun. I would probably describe this area as a giant egg tray!! This was my first time in the Lisali area and this is by far the most technical area I have ever driven in. This is an area that truly tests ones technical off roading skills. All in all a fun filled day with great people and as usual, looking forward to many more of these as the climate keeps getting more and more favorable.

Thanks guys. Taking into account the many positive reviews of RSA and also my good experience with them I will stick with them. I got revised offer with roadside cover in it just now.

Using waterless car wash to wash your car is as good as using tissue paper to clean you arse.

Hello all, or at least to those still interested. I did my 120K servicing a couple of weeks back and asked the garage to include the rear axle cleaning & greasing to get a shot at fixing this issue. And although I don't use the car daily, during the times I did there was no 'tok' sound to be heard anymore. I drove in heavy traffic multiple times already and every time was intently listening to confirm this and I am really glad to say that it was resolved. I had a couple of job done as well (i.e. full brake overhauling) during the servicing so I will not attest the fix to the axle cleaning & greasing 100%. Maybe around 98% only... Hopefully this also helps those experiencing the same before they go wild replacing unnecessary stuff.

Is it True the New Tahoes are much better than Land Cruiser? while having a debate in office this topic came up that the Tahoe is Cheaper more Powerful , more Economical in Fuel vise, more better options, better torque ,more horse power, more options better features more space. Has finally Chevy came up to give better competition Toyota or it only a Myth. I fell in love with a Tahoe I drove today for me it was far much better than driving LC200. Lets see what my other friends have to say. Is America Great Again!

Nice topic to touch on. This is great and always good to learn from others mistakes both offroad and on road. Firstly Toyota Corolla brake for apparently no reason, maybe distracted. If he had to stop it would be better to stop on hard shoulder. Secondly the Lancet was way too fast and also might have failed to notice the Corolla braking. Nasty accident, good thing is traffic around was aware and made good choices. Else it could have been a horrible pile up.

Haven't used them yet, so i can't really comment on it. From an environmental point of view i don't see the need, as the carwash has filtration units and recycle the water. If they would ask me to wash my car without water, i would: 1) Use compressed air or fans to completely remove all debris, dust, sand (which is already the biggest challenge). 2) Apply a certain chemical that loosens up the stuff that does not come off. 3) Use very soft microfiber cloth to clean the car. The FACT is that water will become the new gold in a matter of time, so eventually we will need to look at different ways.

Almost 50k price difference and not to mention looks a million times better. Reliability wise its also good. We had two Tahoes in the company we used for daily safaris and for the two years we had them. They really had no issues. Arabian Adventures whole Safari fleet was Tahoes before until a new bean counter manager came in sometime back and switched back to LCs But what really did it for me was my Land Lord in rad Al Khaimah had a 1995 with 470k ish kms on it and he literally raped it on a daily basis in the Desert. Since he really didn't know how to drive off road properly he would be just abusing it. But even after all that it drove like a dream on road engine smooth and no creaks and rattles. And he was and probably still is a big cheapskate and spent only the very necessary money that needed to be spent on it to keep it on the road.

I will never choose a Japan made car over a American. They are totaly different mind set. If you want reliability go with Toyota for all other things American or European.

Tahoe is indeed much better than LC since very long time. Everything you said is true about Tahoe. Only thing it lacks is the rock solid resale value compare to LC as people are almost blind here when it comes to Japanese and don't wanna try anything else for the sake of loosing tiny bit more resale value. My wife drives Trail Blazer and I kid you not it has best safety features and strength with very comfy ride on highway, like driving on a sofa compare to any other Japanese 4x4's I have owned.

Whats your view on water less car wash , Is it good to use ? This is wat i found from Internet A waterless car wash is only recommended for cars with light dirt. Wiping down your car with a waterless car wash spray is advised by any auto detailer as water can sometimes hurt your bodywork and leave marks if you go about it the wrong way.

I think Corolla braked, maybe because he was loosing the exit and after hard braking he must have realized oh I cant steer two lanes at once due to incoming traffic from back. OR genuinely something wrong happen that he had to brake so hard on the second lane. Lancer driver was fully distracted on phone, texting, music, passenger or sleeping as he didn't noticed corolla's hard braking at all. If he was fully attentive, he could have steered on fast lane as he was almost hanging towards left side. We all have dodged these last minute exit chaser so many times including those who steer through 3 lanes in 1 seconds.

Potable water might become precious but water to wash cars will always be in plenty of supply. So don't worry too much about it

I agree with Gaurav bhai, go to RSA direct website and get a quote, recovery is covered with RSA.

Selling a Camry only can be a wise decision.

I used my little Pajero for Oman trips previous years, but since we bought the big LWB Pajero we use that one for our Oman adventures.

Get the quote from RSA directly too before deciding as since last so many years road side is pretty standard with RSA and AXA

if you ever intend on driving down to oman with your car, then it would be better if you could ask them to include oman cover(and maybe the price might bump up a bit) on the second option that has the accident cover and that way you have the best of both options. If you arent planning on oman trips, then the second option is obviously better.

I am no expert on cars, but I really think American trucks(SUV) are reliable enough. A little amateur research and few days in used car markets of Ras Al Khor, Sharjah, Ajman. I found that older American Suv are more expensive and Still alive and kicking, and they are fast selling. Checking online advs you call the person they say its sold.

Trip Report - What a wonderful time with amazing people and dreamy weather. From being on time, to the smiles, to following advice, all did very well. Starting on time from the meeting point and heading towards the deflation point was quick. The briefing was precise with great advise. @Gaurav bhai in lead followed by @Frederic, @Emmanuel, @Shamil, @AKR and me in the sweep. Some hot air balloons taking off while we had the brief was amazing. Starting with small, technical and white sand dunes we had a couple of stucks in the first 300 meters. However a good track adjustment saw us breeding through quickly with very few refusals heading towards the long range dunes. We were welcomed to the long range dunes with a beautiful sand formation. After a few cool pics we took off on dream slopes. Everyone managed well. We had so much fun that it's impossible to state that in words and I doubt that we got any action pics. At times We came across some soft patches, but the best was the "Leap of faith". It was blinding as you head to the top with a light and smooth jump, just enough to give you butterflies in the stomach. We would have loved to continue all day, but with a few more small technical dunes we took the path to the Love Lakes. It was a great break with great food and drinks and some nice chat. Just as the heat of the day was about to kick in we inflated and left. My best moments were seeing @Frederic gelling in with his daughter, I see her growing in confidence and love to see them bond. I got to renew my car insurance next week and this thread is really helpful in covering wht to expect from insurance provider. I will get quotes from RSA too.

Just got a quote for renewal of my Little Pajero.
