I'm not sure about the hurdle, but its the most "IRRITATING" thing I have ever found in my Range. Problem with adaptive cruise control is it keeps lot of distance, and keep braking quite early that makes everyone else fall in front of you and your cruise again keep on braking more and more. I have only used cruise on empty road and not in traffic moving road for this reason. Although it comes with distance adjustment - 3 settings, but the minimum distance is also over 100 meters, normally when human being control the car we keep 100 meter distance at 120-140 speed and not at 60. If distance can be tweaked manually to bare minimum to what suits your driving style, road and traffic then it will be nice than having a blanket system.

Hello, guys! Recently we did two trips on a car: to Salalah in August and to Jordan in October. I'm thinking of writing a review which could be useful for some people. Are you interested? Should I proceed? If yes, what would you like to see in a review, anything specific? If you are not interested, it's totally fine, no worries 😃

Not all lady's owned car are ladies owned and maintained as well some will be done by cheap hairy balls as well..so don't be worried if things start to fall apart after you transfer ownership...have seen quite some cases like that...it's always better to stay alert and check the car nicely before investing on it...

Apparently now the thing in Dubai is make sure the ad says "British owned". If it says "lady" in the title, bonus points. If the owner was a "British lady dentist", you hit the jackpot.

What bike did you buy and what specs? I used to do a lot of cycling at home but the roads here scare me and it’s a pain having to travel somewhere to ride. It will surprise you how quickly you can build up from 6-7k runs to 60-70k runs. I imagine dehydration will be a big issue here. Isotonic drinks. Water alone isn’t enough to replace the electrolytes lost through sweating.

I have always wondered why Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is not a compulsory requirement in all cars. None of my cars ( Pardo 2014 and Camry 2006) has it, although I am aware the more expensive cars do have them ( Mercs.) Most people will state that it is the cost that prevents it but I would like to know if it is more expensive than the air-bags installed in most cars ? I can only assume that the front sensing system may be expensive . While sitting next to new drivers ( like my son and daughter) the first thing that I have to watch out for is the judgement of the braking distance. A large percentage of accidents on our roads are due to this misjudgment . With high speed urban driving even an experienced driver may have faced emergency braking scenarios ( I have). I believe that electronic sensors like most electronic components are getting cheaper so why the delay in this option. Even if it may have some negatives consequences , it should be available in all cars even if it is has optional activation switch. Perhaps those who have ACC or know the cost can comment about the hurdle that stops the manufacturers from installing this life saving device.

Where does it state on the drivers license ? I converted my European license when I arrived in Dubai four years back. Never had any questions about it.

So here comes my update so far - 1. Checked engine -ripped off as heard some minor sounds from engine and it was found exhaust side camshaft was broken- replaced it and overhauled engine and now it works fine 2. Replaced all fluids and after replacing the steering pump doesn't feel well with new oil. Bought another pump - waiting the garage to replace it. ( one advantage i found with pathfinder R50 is that all parts are easily available and of low cost ) 3.Front suspension damaged and need to be replaced - replaced with heavy duty CR7 suspension and it works fine 4.Running on stock coils its so fun to drive a manual here it brings back me nostalgia of driving car back home ( in India). 😍

I love that part of dunes a lot.. once done it without bash plate on my pajero and it was a nightmare at the end.

😂😂 when I see lady owned it means they have hit every kerb in all 7 Emirates and the tyres will be full of bubbles and the alignment will be out of whack i know “British owned” has become a meme in UAE but when I’m buying random stuff on dubizzle I like buying from British sellers. The price is the price, the item is described as is. There is no “last price” bs. The price advertised is a fair price, pre haggled. You get what you see.

Snakes are cool. Tasty too deep fried in batter with soy sauce. I used to have a pet Boa constrictor. She grew to almost 2 meters. Once you learn to handle them they aren't so scary. Its about respect. Most of the time if you don't annoy them they won't annoy you. If you want to pick one up, just be careful of the bitey end. If you pick up a snake properly it won't be able to bite you. But, some snakes can be just as cuddly as a kitten too. Mine used to curl around my leg and sit and watch TV with me. Snakes don't want to bite people. Purely for the reason that they swallow their prey whole, and a person is too big to swallow. If a snake bites you, its not the snakes fault, its yours. The snake bit you because it was scared. Snakes get a bad rep sometimes but its not their fault, its ours. We are the ones encroaching on their environment. They were there before we started decided to build villas over their habitat.

I'm going to jump in on this. Part of the reason air suspension used to get a bad reputation when it first came out is because it was so new. When it went wrong, the mechanics on the ground didn't know how to repair it so it became a main dealer job. Things got expensive fast. Now it's easy. People know how it works and its not complicated. Its just a compressor, controller, valve block and 4 air bags. Sounds simple doesn't it? Because it is. But back then people were scared because they didn't understand it. Remember when fuel injection became a thing instead of carburetors? Its the same. People don't like to accept new technology. Air suspension isn't overly expensive to repair if you know what you're doing and can diagnose the problem. Even an idiot like me can order a repair kit online and rebuild a complicated looking air suspension setup. Shit, the instructions are even in the box. I know a lot of people swear by shocks and springs. Their 20 year old car is still running on the original springs. I know people with 40+ year old cars running on original springs. Yes. But look at new cars, a spring can break after 3-4 years. This is all down to the quality of the steel used. Go a few years back and the springs were made from fresh virgin metal. Now the metal has been recycled and recycled and mixed so many times it has lost its purity. Thats why old cars are still running their original springs and new car springs break after 3-4 years. For a race car id always choose adjustable shocks and springs but for everyday driving, id have airbags. the ride quality is like night and day.

I went to the motor show in WTC last year and I enjoyed it. I think (maybe) I posted some photos on here but I couldn't find the thread. Yeah, there is a lot of boring corporate stuff but there's a lot of cool stuff too. Nice modified cars, weird cars and of course the infamous Devel Sixteen. Last year there was a whole hall dedicated to classics and that's where I spent most of my time. Seeing a Pantera in the flesh made it worthwhile. Most of it was a sales pitch from Tomini but it was cool to see rare cars like that on display. By the way, if you're into cool, old, rare, expensive cars, go and visit the Tomini showroom in Al Quoz. Nice place to spend a couple of hours and enjoy some free arabic coffee. I wasn't planning to go but I had a meeting right beside it so we just went inside to see. Got a discount for paying with Emirates NBD card too so we got in cheap. Id say go and see for yourself. We're all stuck in Dubai and there isn't much to do so you might as well experience as much as you can when you're here.

@Rahimdad My first drive with you all was really awesome. i felt a bug called offroad has stung me. Only issue during the drive because of which i was not able to enjoy to the fullest was getting under body hit because of unexpected jump or similar. After every steep dune(for me every dune was a challenge) i was looking on to my bumpers just to ensure it is not scratched . Also i remember someone saying during the drive. You should never take your 1 lac or above car to the desert 😁

Have a bike carrier instead, to be completely safe

The problem with riding in the rough patch is that's where you pick up punctures. Rough stones, thorns etc. Google Slime Tubes. I used them for years at home. When you get a puncture, the slime comes out through the hole and lets you ride home. They're maybe 20-30 grams heavier than a normal tube because of the stuff inside but it saves you from having to carry a toolkit and pump/co2 canisters on a ride. Have you got any lights on your bike? I've noticed that the flashing ones seem to make drivers notice more than the solid ones.

Gaurav bhai just wait. There is a bug following you and he will bite you soon. It won't be long before you're buying a carbon frame and adding drop bars and skinny tyres and building it to your own spec. It's an addictive hobby. I started out on a bmx then moved to MTB. It wasn't long before I got into hybrids then racer spec tarmac bikes. Always kept a nice mtb for off road forest trails too. Not a massive fan of full sus bikes, they sap up all your pedaling power but front sus is a godsend off road. I used to work in a bike shop so if you ever need help setting your bike up, straightening bent wheels, lining up gear mechanisms, balancing brakes etc I'm your man.

It's an Upten River MTB with front shocks and 7 gear rear + 3 gear fwd for steep climbs. To be honest I haven't gone in too much detail as it was an impulsive buy (very rare) than a planned one. I tried a few bikes and just bought this based on comfort and looks. Feel free to advise how is it for beginners usage. I totally agree this place is not quite safe for the cyclist unless you hook a hitch and carry bike to cycle strip. My house is very close to cycling strip and yesterday for the first time riding a bike on the roadside, I got the creeps. This bike has a removable wheel so after removing the front wheel, it can fit in Range boot with the second row folded. Good point for Isotonic drink, and will see how far I take this new hobby as yesterday I did 3 km in 13 mins at a leisure pace.

Thanks for the advice, Ill def go slow and keep it for fun than getting into any grueling competition, I never do that in health anyways. I have a nice 3km long walking and cycling strip next to my house, so will give it a go with that first and then slowly move forward. Sertac, once I decide to head qudra, will let you know. I'm sure it will be good fun to ride together with a few bikes.

Agreed, Ghurka to me atleast always invoked the image of a tribe of tough people who grew up in the harsh cold ans barren environment of the Himalayas and then out of those a select few were chosen by the British Army as a elite force. To me its the other way around. Naming a puny 85hp diesel is not in keeping with Ghurkha name. I think the Ghurka name becoming synonymous with a lazy watchman is due to poor nepali immigrants cashing in on the ghurka fame. Im sure in the past actual retired ghurkhas were sought after by the rich as their body and security guards. Because who could be better at that job than an actual Ghurka. Its like hiring a member of the SAS for security.

For me personally, the Gurkha name attached to a vehicle stirs up feelings that it’s going to be tough as hell, a force to be reckoned with. I know who the Gurkhas were. And they got screwed over for a long time. But it’s good to see them now starting to get the recognition they deserve.
