DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED @Christian Andras will be my second lead tomorrow, slightly altering the tracks upon my instructions, and communicating to the rest of the convoy to inform them of any bumps, tricky parts, bowls. @Mels Wolf will be our center forward, keeping the convoy together, and being the first at the scene to initiate recoveries and help out over the radio. @Jeepie will be our sweep, keeping the convoy moving and help out with recoveries where needed. The drive plan is to start off at the 2nd december cafeteria and take a left towards direction Faya. This track takes us through strange terrain with lots of trees and black sand. This area is not the most difficult terrain but will be PERFECT for taking some scenic shots. Once we pass this terrain, we will take the roundabout the cross the road and head towards Faya. The plan is to approach Faya from a less used side, and enjoy the bowls that are surrounding Faya, also known as "The Saddle". Please make sure to bring all your gear as per Fewbie level, and set your radio to Channel 2 (446.03125Mhz). Looking really forward to this one ! See you !

What to expect: Speed. We want to get moving and move at some pace tomorrow. From Newbie to Fewbie, we increase the complexity, so be ready for a lot of slide sloping, criss crossing and higher dune climbs while on the move. We will also tackle technical dunes. You've done it all before, but this time we ramp up the intensity. What to expect: Self recovery. As a fewbie we expect you can self recover as a first line of action. Advise you have a refusal and then see if YOU can find the way out of the situation. Seniors will be there to assist, but at Fewbie it's assistance. As you see above, we still have one driver on the wait list - so if you did not pay attention to any of the previous messages and only read this, and for any reason cannot come, please advise ASAP. Hi All, As a one off exception, we will add @marks to this drive on Friday morning. Unusually, it looks like Mark is the only driver in the club on wait list with no other drive available this weekend, so will be included in the drive (position 12). Jeandre will stay as sweep. Please confirm Mark that you read and noticed this message this evening so we will know whether or not to wait for you tomorrow morning. Hello fellow Desertnauts. Here is the last update before tomorrow's drive. As usual, please make sure that you all have the necessary equipment: besides a flag that stands the test of the slightest bump, a good shovel and the compressor, at this level also tow ropes with soft shackles are really recommended, as well as a good jack (not one of those flimsy ones coming with the car). Regarding the convoy numbering, we'll start with @Kalahari in Second Lead, followed by @J J and @Rinelle Sanaani, but this time I would like to switch the positions as we go along, so every 30 minutes we'll move the second lead to the sweep position, and each driver will have the chance to move up one place in the convoy order, for a more dynamic drive. The meeting place is next to Al Lisaili cameldrome, from where we'll move along the track, through the pylons, until we'll be able to access a small area of technical dunes, before plunging into the long range dunes. Make sure your tank is full: you can fill up at a couple of stations just before Al Lisaili's exit. When you arrive, please tune into Carnity Channel 2 (446.031). Yes please, buy all these fluids and filter from Habtoor - ONLY. They arent expensive and slight up and down with spec or duplicacy (possibility) can cost you fortune and inconvenience in offroad.

Please check your vehicle Engine oil condition and level Coolant level Check your tires Check your spare tire and its lug wrench Remove any unwanted stuff from boot or the backseat Strap or secure loose stuff in your car, as they will bounce while offroading For your first drive, you don't need any off-road gears other than tire pressure gauge and a tire deflator, that you can get from any fuel station or tire shop, easily. Practice at fuel fuel station on how to deflate your tires and if needed we can still show you on the meeting point, if you need our assistance for deflation, please arrive 15 minutes early. We will provide you the spare walkie-talkie radio for your first drive only. From the second drive onward you need to start bringing your own off-road gears: Radio Safety flag Shovel Air compressor - for joining drives that usually doesn't end at fuel station. If you have any of existing offroad gear, please bring it along to seek our advise after the drive.

Indeed. It’s the sand that causes the squeaking and washing is the proper solution. Grease will mute the sound but it catches the sand even more and traps it and sand in anything that moves isn’t good.

@Emmanuel we can repeat any time. I enjoy these fast, long desert crossings, at least alternating it every once in a while to the more technical spins in the "bowl" areas. Looking forward to it.

The Qudra area has a lot of different challenges: from long wide dune plains to short technical dunes and everythign in between. It is also an area that can be easily ramped up or toned down depending on the ability of the convoy. For this reason, be ready Friday for some slide sloping, dune crossing and technical dune navigation that will challenge your skills and get you ready for more difficult conditions and dunes. Myself and @Brette the other senior on this drive are looking forward to seeing everyone. The plan is to play on the wide dunes for as long as we want, weaving back and forth and practicing criss crossing before making our way back to the Qudra lakes and dune complex. A quick reminder - if you don't have the right equipment with you, you don't drive. More to come. As ever, if you need to driop out of the drive, please advise ASAP - there is at least one driver eager to replace you in case you cannot make it.

The more I have the pleasure of interacting with the Carnity team, the more I understand the rationale behind its name: Carnity = Car Community. There is a genuine inclination to support eachother, and help eachother learn and grow, without any prejudice. The Carnity team has done such an incredible job of creating this culture, you can easily feel the sense of camaraderie and kindness influencing even the new members. I was raised in Canada so I’m accustomed to a multicultural and diversified community, but it’s absolutely refreshing to see a microcosm of it within Carnity. On my first Carnity drive, I remember being a bit hesitant when I first got out of the car to introduce myself, but something astonishing happened which I’ll never forget. I was shaking hands and saying hello, when all of a sudden@Rahimdad came up and gave me a totally unexpected but warm hug, like we’d known eachother for years. I was shocked! And totally disarmed. But I knew from that point on exactly what type of club is being run here.

Amazing to see such a diversity in the club. I guess we all have one thing in common: We made the UAE our home away from home, and as an expat we need to get out, explore, travel, and meet friends, colleagues, buddies, that makes us feel as our home is here. I feel very blessed to have met so much amazing people yet, and look forward every day in meeting more !
