One can never plan enough - FJ Preferential, Murqaab to Qudra Report What a long and eventuful drive this was! While the drive started in a quite and relaxed manner, on the long and wide yellow dunes of Murqaab's outskirts, it soon begun to show a more adventurous and unexpected face. After the briefing, with the sun rising in the convoy's face, came the first stuck, horizontally on a tall and soft dune. Congrats to @Mohamed Abo ElKomsan, in your first Fewbie drive, for keeping your composure, listening to the instructions, and managing to come off that dune. Once crossed the stretch of technical dunes between Murqaab and Lisaili, and entered the whiter dune cordons of Lisaili proper, our carefully planned course was somewhat altered by a string of minor, yet challenging, situations. A pop out solved in almost record time, thanks to @Najeeb Mohammed's support (just remember to get thicker, sturdier planks, to hold your 2.5 ton jack), was immediately followed by the first case of sea-sickness (I prefer this term, as we were navigating beautiful pristine dunes, looking just like a shining sea). This called for our first detour, to the dirt track close to Lisaili's pylons, where we left @Piotr Kolodziej to accompany his passengers to the nearest taxi location, and with the promise to try to see each other later at Solar Park. Now that the planned route had been abandoned, we re-entered Lisaili's sands through an unplanned area of technical dunes, which after a few refusals made me fear a reprisal of one of Carnity's most challenging drives (ask @Wrangeld for information). Luckily we managed to slightly re-route, and get back close enough to our original track. Still, on our approach to Solar Park, more surprises were waiting for us. First, a young couple, who had got stuck the evening before while BBQing, and had to spend the night on a dune while waiting for a good Samaritan (i.e. us). Second, another case of sea-sickness led to a second car leaving the convoy, while at the same time, miraculously, Piotr and his blue FJ materialized, and joined back the convoy after dispatching his suffering guests. At this point we were at Solar Park, where @Foxtrot Oscar took over the lead, in the direction of Bab al Shams. Upon reaching the sabkha at the doorsteps with Bab al Shams, it was @Pancho's turn to lead the convoy to its exit point, on the tarmac road close to Qudra Parking. Congratulations to both for their very nice leads, which displayed the different styles of each leader: femininely sinuous that of Angela, more masculine and energetic that of Pancho. In the meantime, we still managed to experience a couple of stucks, on two different ridges, which allowed us to show the fine art of assisted recovery, as well as experimenting with the FJ's gizmos, that usually come super handy in these circumstances. A very eventful, yet entertaining drive, that lasted 5:09 hours (yet "only" 2:50 hours driving), going for 68.6Km, at an average speed of 13Km/h (but 24Km/h while moving). Congrats to the FJ pack of @Ahab Shamaa, @David Ortells, @Heisem, Piotr and Najeeb, for stimulating and emulating each other during the drive, and a loud well done to the rest of the pack for keeping up with such a superior vehicle as the FJ 😜: @Arda Yagcioglu, @Abu Muhammad, @Tero Vallas, @Karthik Krishnakumar and @Kailas, you all did great!! What a cool video! Thanks for sharing @Heisem! This was an amazing and unpredictable drive Between the pop-out, the stucks, the sick passengers and helping out complete strangers, the drive was very entertaining to say the least. I found my work cut-out for me from the moment we hit the sand! Some of the maneuvers that @Ale Vallecchi had planned for us, scared me and some surprised me; but all of them exhilarated me. @Foxtrot Oscar, you were an amazing second-lead and lead. Thanks for your guidance and for bailing my butt out from that infamous stuck; we certainly had an audience 😂 @Foxtrot Oscar and @Pancho, I believe you guys will make great leads because you're patient and caring. Thank you @Ale Vallecchi for well organised drive again. I really do like your technical briefings ! In those there is loads of new information and also sharing & benchmarking the information of other drives is valuable. It is all about learning from others ! Clear radio instructions are always pleasure to hear, especially as a pilot I am used to short & crisp messages. I believe this was one of the longest drives on the sand I have made so far, 65 km according Prado's speedometer. That was action packed drive ! Hello @Wrangeld, you were amazing. Made my first off road experience enjoyable but more so informative. Ive had a prior experience but you and the team are hands down the best and the reason i and my screaming shortgun will be joining carnity in the coming weeks. Thank you @Lorenzo Candelpergher for giving me the knowhow on how to deflate my tyres which before for a newbie like me was a task in itself. You were there to welcome me as soon as i reached the meeting point and gave me a warm first impression of carnity. Dear Reader, You're possibly wondering why I named this drive the Devil's Deceit. It's because Murquab is an area where you can think that you're driving along without worries and problems and suddenly, you're in highly techincal, tightly packed dunes thinking that you might not get out of the dunes, ever! The Devil leads you in with wonderful easy dunes and if you go a meter in the wrong direction: BOOM. There are some amazing playable dunes right next to these technical sections: and if you are not confident enough around them, and don't know how to dirve them you can enter into a whole new world of pain! Don't get me wrong, every competent dune driver has to be able to manage the technical dunes as well as the adrenalin packed climbs and side slopes - but they are more difficult to handle than wide sloping dunes. Which is why we are going to venture into soem of them on this drive. Additionally, we are going to enjoy one of my favorite 'rat runs' - a passage way between the dunes that lets us avoid the treacherous portions of the route to Last Exit - where we can practice fast running along the sand and see amazing scenery. Expect this drive to leave you exhilarated, tired and extremely proud of yourself. Looking forward to seeing you soon in the sand.

Welcome to Carnity dear @Bernd Stucke! My few cents in addition to what @Wrangeld already mentioned above, You already have a fantastic car which can do wonders in stock condition ( I read RUBICON). Please do at least 10 to 15 drives , understand your vehicle and more importantly your own style of driving , which will help you make a better informed decision on what mods you really want if any. If you go to any mods garage with the same question, the first question which will be asked is your budget and then the story begins which is never ending especially on a Wrangler.

What a Friday Morning it was!!! Upto that day I was undermining my Machine Pajero 3.5,. I was under an impression that only Petrol, Land Cruiser, FJ are the cars for desert drive, because whenever I tried to drive in desert, my car wheels are always taking bath in the sand. @Wrangeld, @Frederic, @Lorenzo Candelpergher you guys made my day. @Lorenzo Candelpergherand @Fredericyou were always there to get me out of sand either by self recovery or by Towing. Special thanks to @Lorenzo Candelpergher for towing me two times. Hope one day I will be competent enough to recover someone like me. You guys have organised the drive very well. Today was a long and interesting drive. Experienced my first pop out that was quickly handled with the help of the team, thanks guys! Just a quick edit of our trip and a tire pop out at the end 😄 The front tire was at around 11Psi and the sharp turn at high speed can make these things happen. Better to go for a smoother approach next time. See you guys on dunes again!

Welcome to the Jeep Wrangler madness. I have lost count of how many things I have done to my jeep. But the only thing that I can assure you, is that I have enjoyed the journey from my original stock jeep to my heavily modified current version very much. My suggestion to you is for you to take your time to consider your options and evaluate the real necessity of any change. Drive and drive and then again drive to identify the required updates. And after spending your money don't look back and enjoy.

Your brother did great by keeping calm and responding to the instructions with precision! Following the instructions, he showed everyone an amazing self-recovery from a tricky refusal. I am sure he learned a few tricks now 😉

Great drive @Emmanuel and @Pancho A well chosen route flowed nicely as can be seen by the majority of the attached GPS track. Such a busy area brings it's own challenges and risks, especially while sitting vulnerable during a popout or stuck, but some good teamwork kept everyone safe. The drive also demonstrated the importance of keeping an appropriate distance. Too close risks losing momentum and refusal, too far risks losing the track in the larger dunes - especially with so many crossing tracks and low light. A really fun drive, thanks all. @Derek Fernandes this type of feedback is exactly why the seniors volunteer their time every weekend to give drivers the opportunity to get the off roading bug. We really enjoyed having you on the drive as well and we all look forward to hearing either of you screaming from the passenger seat very soon in the future. When they are opened up on Sunday night, they really fill quickly, so we really advise checking out the list in advance and makign sure you are ready.
