I love your Covid compliant, pre-brief @Wrangeld! To the point and calls a spade, a spade 😀 I wholeheartedly agree with the points you mentioned. I would like to add: - Don’t be late; aim to be moving @ 15:00. This translates into more driving time and more enjoyment - Don’t bring passengers if you think they might get sick or distract you. Exiting passengers is a waste of time and a buzz killer. Newbie/Fewbie drives are more suited for an IM Carnitian to bring company. If the aim is to impress family/friends, take a video of the drive, and boast about your amazing driving skills later - Don’t attend the drive if you suspect your car has any mechanical issues. The IM drives are more demanding and will amplify any issues with the car - Don’t fight gravity and watch your speed; IM is not a license to go crazy, and IM certainly does not mean you can’t roll over 😬 Finally, let’s have loads of fun! No Man's Land: To Ganthoot and Back - Drive's Report "What you seek is seeking you" - Rumi As soon as we passed a dirt track that cuts through the desert close to the Dubai/Abu Dhabi border, I started looking for the large herd of oryx that usually roams this area. It usually requires a patient zig-zagging exercise, driving around the dunes, using some beautiful, lonely, palm trees pushing through the sand, as visual waypoints. It may take some time, and the oryx may not be gathered together, to offer the spectacle we hoped to find. This time, what we were seeking was seeking us. In fact, as soon as we started looking for them, the oryx materialized walking their own dusty trail, across the dunes in front if the convoy. We followed for a while half of the herd, while a few minutes later we reached the watering hole where the rest of the oryx were resting, only to see them move away toward the blazing sun. Always a great sight, the families of this bovines, calmly trotting away with their little ones, the males turning toward the convoy, stopping often, as if asking "are you done looking at us?" We had reached the "zenith" of our drive after an adventurous itinerary, through the entry technical area, past the first massive dune we used as our first beacon, and on crossing a few sets of tighter cordons alternating with smoother, more open canyons and sand bowls. Along the way we met with a few unplanned situations: a lost phone and its miraculous recovery, two back-to-back pop outs, a coupe of cars with leaking tires. Nonetheless, all drove very well, on a track that I was hoping may prove accommodating to Fewbies, but likely will have to remain a Fewbie Plus drive. Looking back on the drive's management, I would like to thank the whole convoy for a great handling of the soft sand, the tight dunes, the string of sand bowls, and the tricky criss-crossing into repeated rocky areas. Everybody responded with skills and control, making the drive as smooth and as safe as possible, and contributing to extend it through the last cordons separating the military shooting ground and Solar Park, where we were able to witness a stunning sunset. Invaluable help and support were provided by @Chaitanya D (record holder for the quickest pop-out fix),@Foxtrot Oscar (welcome back, from snow to sand), and @GauravSoni with a well executed Second Lead. Great driving by the "younger" members - @Ranjan Das the only Fewbie + of the convoy, and @Watteaudebuting at Intermediate. @imranaasghar81 you had more trouble with your phone than with your FJ (well done). @Shehab Alawadhi hats off for your ever more expert handling of your big truck: did you find out why your tire was leaking? @Thomas Varghese thanks for the assured drive, as well as for the beautiful photos you posted. @jodha singh shekhawat, well done with your new mount: the more you drive, the more you two will become a perfectly coordinated unit. As for @Arda Yagcioglu, @AlexPol and @Ali Abas I rarely heard from you, which means you were enjoying a smooth, relaxing and well done drive. Thanks everybody for driving 69.5 Km, in 2:36 hours of moving time (for a total of 3:32 hours), at a moving average speed of 27 Km/h (20 Km/h total). See you soon in the sand. It was only part of the herd, which we followed for a short while, before going to search for the other half, still visible on the left of the convoy.

Also can everyone with winches remove them before the drive (😬), i think it has become a luxury these last few months, to easy to use. Those that repeatedly get stuck needs to do it the old school way and shovel 🥄, its the best way to learn, and if your health is put at risk due to excessive shoveling then reconsider this drive 😎✌🏼 I like how @Wrangeld has put it above, if you got stuck it’s because of you and not the guy in front of you, you need to manage yourself by keeping a safe following distance, focus and dont get distracted, and follow the leads tracks, if you feel the need to blame the guy in front of you for getting stuck then that means you did not manage that situation like you should by now in the IM level be able to do. have a good weekend all, see you Saturday!

@Ale Vallecchiit was a fake pop out as you said, after I filled my tires to 25 it stopped leaking and hasn't leaked since, i even went to an auto pro and checked for leaks and nothing. So great deduction on your part. The hit I took was quite nasty I think @Chaitanya D saw it.

Please find the convoy order here below: @amir amiri, @Arman, @varunmehndiratta, @Hisham Masaad, @Mario Cornejo, @Goutam, @Shehab Alawadhi, @GauravSoni, @Shaaz Sha, @marks this drive is going to be extremely technically demanding, both mentally for the drivers than mechanically for the cars, as we are going to climb some high and complex dunes and to drive through some long stretches of technical ones, with little or no time to relax, all of this while covering quite a long distance. This drive will require your full and undivided concentration at every step, so make sure you come well rested and well hydrated (especially those who will be fasting) and you don’t have any reason for being distracted. Also, please consider carefully if you wish to bring passengers along with you. We will be using Carnity Channel 3 (446.05625MHz). See tomorrow morning, ready to go (i.e. already deflated, flagged and briefed) by no later 6:00am (sharp), so make sure you make it to the meeting point at least by 5:45am, so that you have enough time for your preparations.

Did you remove the tire to see inside and clean it? Better check as in this scenario the tire may take in some sand and cause a pop out later.

Very well said @Francois Germishuys winch should be the super duper last option and not the 1st, if anyone wish to grow in this extreme sport. Surprise to hear it has become a luxury option, lately. SAD. We off-road not only for driving pleasure but also to enjoy the challenge of getting unstuck and learning along the way with self-recoveries, shovel and tow-rope tugs. Yes winch are good when you are pressed for time in scorching heat of 55 degrees or all options exhausted then it's useful.

First time I see 2 convoys together, enjoy folks have a nice drive and fun. Would love to have birds eye view of the entire convoy!!!! Congrats to management to arrange such thing to meet the demands of many requests.

Thanks Francois - said it for me. The winch is a lovely tool, but it's not you, the driver getting yourself free when you are winched out ... and what are you going to do when your lovely friend with the winch happens not to be on the drive?

Small suggestion to improve our website if it is possible 1. Move the leave club button from drives details page to profile page, 2. Enable rsvp button for the drive only when individual is eligible for the drive (level and drive count), this will help leads from manually sorting out wrong bookings to avoid any incidents and give others chance to rsvp on the right drive.

Thanks @Kailas I enjoyed this night drive, new experience so all good! You didn’t hold back so it was good!! Just a few issue on the drive, 2 drivers with no night lights, this is a must on night drives as clearly they have issues with seeing where to go. Also this later on causes people to lose the actual track and take their own ways and get stuck. Its very important to follow the leads tracks especially at night when dark and not easy to see where you are going... Thanks to @Craig Finlayson for putting his winch to good use and doing all the recoveries. Other than that awesome drive. see you guys on the next drive!

OK - Wednesday morning and you're all making weekend plans. Here's my pre-briefing for the drive on Saturday: No dropouts please, because your Friday drive overran or you're tired or the dog ate your homework. If you don't know your weekend plan by now, unless thermonuclear war breaks out, your vehicle got damaged on Friday or there's a real family emergency, any other excuse will be called for what it is. IM drive instructions are pretty simple. If you have a problem, call it out. If you can self recover, take the time needed and do it. If you need help, ask. It's not a race so we are not looking for the fastest recoveries so we can move on. There is a hierarchy in sorting out problems. Drive, dig, rope, winch, helicopter. At IM, you get yourself into trouble, you get yourself out. No excuses, no blame. If you got stuck you got stuck. It's not because the guy/girl in front braked suddenly = you were too close or not in control of your speed. It's not because you did not see the correct line = you're IM so if you don't see the line, make the adjustments needed. Focus on you. Short, implies this will be a technical challenge. It will help your drive skills immensely. Sharp, implies criss cross, ridges and side slipping. Let's see which gives more pleasure. See you Saturday in the Sand.
