Another fabulous drive to kickoff the weekend. Thanks @Islam Soliman for great planning and leading the drive. The beautiful full moon in the clear desert sky with mild cool breeze added to the fun. @Darren Brooke you were doing wonderfully well as second lead, hope your ride is fine. @Danish Mohammad, it was nice to see you all sorted out at the end. Great going @Abdul Rahman AK and @Hisham Masaad thank you for your support @Russ, @Matt.T, @Ashok chaturvedi, @JeromeFJ, @Lawrence_Chehimi - it was an absolute pleasure driving with you all today. Thanks for the company. Thank you once again, wish you all a lovely weekend9 points

Great drive today really enjoyed it thanks for providing such a varied and challenging drive @Islam Soliman @Darren Brooke good 2nd lead though shame you had the overheating issues, hopefully you can sort OK @Abdul Rahman AK for centre forward and replacement 2nd lead and as always @Hisham Masaad for sorting the tail. Good to see @Danish Mohammadat the end having exited and sorted his brake and transmission fault. Fun watching the big V8 boys on the dune climb. See ya all next time8 points

Drive Report Well aren’t you lot all kinds of fabulous! The convoy was the epitome of a Newbie Drive, with so many members experiencing only their first or second drive at Newbie level , the casual observer would have thought this was a Fewbie convoy! I said we would tackle play area after play area and that’s exactly what we did. We climbed and side sloped our way to Fossil Rock , yes we had a couple of refusals along the way but by goodness this convoy lapped up everything I threw at them, and I definitely raised the bar and took quite a few members out of their comfort zone. @Faraz Mohammad – 10/10 for perseverance! You kept going trying to get the most out of your Pajero , and with some good advice from Vanessa you managed to side slope along the dunes towards the end of the drive. However, even before then you paid attention and controlled your car when you were losing momentum,. Well done. @Super Safari Girl – I know I pushed you, but you should be very pleased with your driving today. You had total control over that car of yours and had a brilliant drive, Are you sure it was only your second drive? 😉 @Savio Fernandes– You handled all the challenges really well today and also had a nice stuck . All part of the learning experience . Well done! @Simon Ducos – great to see you let off the leash and out there on your own! You had an impeccable drive and were always in total control of your vehicle. Great drive! @Jason Grima – a flawless drive from you , it was great to see you handle your car with finesse and not just power, and on your 2nd drive too. Well done! @Paolo Pellegrini – Flawless ! Bravo @Charbel– Flawless and in a new car too! Loving watching your journey! @Alfred Alinazar – Flawless and with the wherewithal to know when to steer down without me having to reach for the walkie talkie! Loved it! @Farook Veettil – My star of the day, amazing to see your progress over the course of one drive, you started off shakily, and a little afraid of the accelerator and then you were on it! Even when you had a refusal you proved that you had learned from the previous one and took control on your own! Keep it up! @Anoop Nair– Flawless ! Man and machine as one! Well done! @Abdul Rafay-S – We waited a looooooooong time for that my friend and you didn’t disappoint! Smashed it! Finesse, control, power….see you at the next level and I will get you stuck ! 😈Mwahahahaha @Pierre de Maigret – Flawless - a super chilled day for you in the soaring heat. Great drive. Many thanks to my support team today , @Ammar Naji continues to not only be an excellent 2nd lead but tackle all challenges with aplomb and even gave me the chance to get a rope out haha. @Veedooshee always on hand to offer advice and anchoring the middle of the convoy and of course @Vanessa8580 for sweeping up at the back and guiding cars who had refusals. Finally thanks again to all of you, for listening to and following instructions, driving so well and maintaining convoy discipline. You made it fun and safe for us all Fossil Rock? Smashed it! Until our next adventure 😎6 points

Post Drive Report As I said at the end of the drive, I enjoyed it - which is usually a good sign. I am not sure how many stuck to the rev limit, but I think that I did except for the moment that I got the car into quicksand and tried to get out (thanks for all the help by the way). What did I learn from today? 2500RPM is adequate for just about everything you would like to do on a recreational drive. I did not feel like we missed out on too much by my choosing a line that was more sympathetic to the predicament that I placed us in! 2 wheel driving inflated is a complete wheeze and lots of fun but difficult to sustain for the whole drive if we have a long convoy. It's something I would like to try again, maybe with a smaller group, just to see how far we can get. I think it can improve our skills the more we do it. Sand conditions are so unpredictable it's probably not worth planning for anything! The sand was super super soft today. More than usual and that made for additional difficulty in the limited revs. On a cold slightly damp morning in the winter, this drive would have been a breeze. Everyone did really well, especially in the technical section that we passed through ironically with the least number of stops. Please pat yourselves on the back (either literally or metaphorically). This was a good Fewbie drive, about the right level for fewbies and where most did well was in starting to ridge ride and criss cross easily. As is often the case, once you start to cross cross you forget how to get over the crest of dune going straight. Special thanks for the help from @Watteau (impeccable as always), @Janarthan @varunmehndiratta @Anand Nataraj and @Gaurav Soni. I'm singling you out because your experience and helping on the drive is really helpful to me as a lead and I do not under estimate the contribution you made. See you soon in the sand.6 points

Another beautiful drive @Islam Soliman, thank you ! Nice dunes, enough space to enjoy the roller coasters and the high climbs it was a different way to tackle the Big Red area, and this itinerary works beautifully! And in addition, superb moon set and sun rise. Definitely worth the early wake up! Thank you all for the friendly spirit in the convoy, and hopefully the early exits @Darren Brooke and @Danish Mohammad will be on tracks for the next drive !5 points

DRIVE REPORT As soon as the RSVP list was rolling in, I was glad to see that I knew most members already, and was looking forward to meeting new ones as well. It was my first drive in Khatim, and it will defininitely not be the last ! We started around 05:30 and headed out into the dunes, which looked harmless, but a little bit deceiving. The sun was slowly rising and the first hour we had some refusals as all of us were still slowly waking up. Once we past the farm track, the dunes changed into a more technical terrain, but nevertheless it was nice exploring and I was glad to be in the company of a group of Carnitees that were cheerful, positive, and helping each other whenever there was a stuck or refusal. @keyvan yasini as we had driven together before, I knew I could totally rely on you to take the second lead in our convoy. You are a calm mature driver and amazed me again with the perfect balance of finesse and power driving. @Naveen Raj the last time we met, we were taping your front bumper together of your Lexus. You quickly realized in order to have a bit more fun in the sand, a dedicated and reliable desert toy was a good option. The 2008 Pajero with the 3.0 engine is known as being a bit underpowered but as I mentioned it's all about the driver and you totally rocked today, using tiptronic and smart use of momentum brought you everywhere without much hassle. Superb ! @Aravind Sidhardhan brought a Fortuner to the game today, and even a manual gear. Driving a manual gear in the desert requires a bit more practice and getting used to, which is totally normal. You drove very well today ! See you soon again (please bring a flag next time). @Ahmed MATAR always comes to every drive with a big smile, and it's clear you enjoy this morning out. You drove very well today. The ideal balance of giving enough and not too much throttle is something that will come after a few more drives. If you are not sure, its better to give less gas instead of too much gas. Well done ! @Karl Dela Cruz was only on his second drive, and you did really well considering you were towards the back of the convoy. Never feel bad whenever you have a refusal or stuck, we are all here to learn and even the most senior offroaders including myself still get stuck. It's all about the team spirit experience and helping each other out, that's what we are here for. See you soon again ! @Luc Khaldoun decided to do a russian roulette RSVP this week and ended up in my drive 🤣 Just kidding. You really drove amazing today and it was nice meeting you ! My hero at the back today was @Kalahari. It's been a while since we last met and I was extremely happy to see you signing up this week and offering your support. Massive thanks for that. All in all, we shoveled a bit, pulled out a few cars, but came out with a tan and no stress I was very delighted to see the camaraderie amongst you. From stepping out with the shovel, to just have a friendly chat and getting to know each other better. It's the group experience that makes offroading fun, and I will gladly drive with you guys again ! See you soon in the sand !5 points

Dear Desert Wanderers, Please find below the convoy order for our drive: @Javier Lucero, @Gok Krish, @Mario Cornejo, @Goutam, @Alexander Alcala, @Rizwanm2, @varunmehndiratta, @Ahab Shamaa, @Wrangeld, @Shaaz Sha, @Dodi Syahdar, @Shehab Alawadhi, @Abu Muhammad, @Hisham Masaad, this drive is going to be very demanding from a technical point of view, both mentally for the drivers and mechanically for the cars. It will require your full and undivided concentration at every step, especially when we will reach elevated positions on steep slopes, so make sure you come well rested and hydrated and that and you don’t have any reason for being distracted. Also, please consider carefully if you wish to bring passengers along with you. We will be using Carnity Channel 4 (446.08125Mhz). The meeting point is confirmed as per original drive post: Al Badayer Exit - E44 Dubai - Hatta Road - https://goo.gl/maps/JkhE9hDwve8mkkU99 See you tomorrow morning, ready to go (i.e. already caffeinated, deflated, flagged and briefed) by no later 5:00am (sharp), so make sure you make it to the meeting point at least by 4:45am.4 points

Fantastic drive today , so thank you all. Was great and for the most part we didn’t exceed the limit. On couple of occasions due to the churned up sand and not picking a smoother less churned line to the edge of it I did exceed the limit, for fear of a refusal. Also a couple of the flats in the cycle track area I couldn’t help but push the gas a little to catch up with the convoy 😂. Always fun putting the foot down on flats . @Wrangeldyour drives are always a pleasure, appreciate them and the support from the experienced team members. @Janarthanthe shoveling master class was much appreciated and see the ease of doing it your way rather then my previous back breaking method . @Tarecki always keep my eye on those behind me and you drive well keeping safe distances and I wasn’t concerned in anyway and was a pleasure watching the patrol ploughing through the churned up sand. Also thanks to @varunmehndirattaits always great to get feed back from senior members on how we drive really appreciate it. I’m also glad I finally know what the Burj Khalifa is!! wondered what you guys were talking about 😂4 points

Dear @Lorenzo Candelpergher from my personal experience I can vouch @Shaaz Sha will stand with you and make sure you and your car are safely escorted out of the desert if at all a problem arises. I can also vouch as an advisor he will be an asset to @Carnity club as I have seen with my own eyes how he can self recover a stuck car from unbelievable stuck situations. Its a treat to watch both his hands and legs work like a dance to budge a car out of soft sands. It seems the car obeys his commands and gives up playing hard and just comes out.4 points

Good afternoon fellow adventurers, Tomorrow afternoon's drive will see us venture into the deep red sands of Mahafiz where we shall scout around and find play area after play area after play area as we make our way to Fossil Rock. It promises so much! But what we do and where we get to all depends on the convoy so , we shall see. It's gonna be hot! The temperature will hit 45degsC but fear not, as we make our way into the sands it will drop to around 41 and continue to drop as the drive progresses. That said, it is imperative that you keep an eye on your dials and bring plenty of fluids to sustain you. Y'all ready for this? Yalla! We shall use Carnity Channel 2 (two) 446.031 My proposed convoy is as follows: Driver Car Rank Position @Foxtrot Oscar Black Xterra Marshal Lead @Ammar Naji Black Expedition Fewbie 2nd Lead @FARAZ MOHAMMED Prado Newbie 3rd @Super Safari Girl Patrol SS Newbie 4th @Savio Fernandes Patrol Newbie 5th @Simon Ducos Fortuner Newbie 6th @Jason Grima Rubicon Newbie 7th @Veedooshee Pajero White Intermediate CF @Paolo Pellegrini Pajero Gold Newbie 9th @Charbel Pajero Silver Newbie 10th @Alfred Alinazar Pajero Black Newbie 11th @Farook Veettil LC White Newbie 12th @Anoop Nair Wrangler Fewbie 13th @Abdul Rafay-S Wrangler yellow Newbie 14th @Pierre de Maigret Fj Fewbie 15th @Vanessa8580 Pajero Blue Marshal Sweep4 points

Thanks to @Kailas and @Goutamand @Gok Krishand @Xavier Treasurer for ferrying us through the beautiful if somewhat overheated Sweihan dunes. A challenging course including both speedy and technical parts with a fair old dose of 'hurry up and wait' while various stucks, refusals and pop outs were expertly dealt with. Great team work on display from the highly polished recovery team featuring @Zedas Thunderbird 2, dispensing jacks and ropes and shovels (and radios) in all directions! Loved the big-ass bowls and it was exciting to see three tonne monsters slipping and sliding on the horizontal as gravity struggled to make them verticals (or roll overs) For me, Sweihan retains it's crown as the best place on earth to drive, I can't wait for the weather and the plague to calm down so more of us can visit it more often. Good drive team.3 points

Thanks @Wrangeld for the innovative drive...i was contemplating throughout the week about how you are going to go about this drive (as seems to be case with most friends here on forum). Must share that i am really amazed how you managed to find the track through which actually one could drive through without exceeding 2500 rpm... Despite being at end of the convoy facing completely churned up sand i to the major part of drive was in the planned range. And mostly where I exceeded i knew that i missed the most suitable line... thanks a lot for the experience. Idea of 2wd was really next level. Apart from initial series of refusals and stucks mostly convoy did well. We surely had our share of crests however was expected while everyone trying to limit the revs. @Tareck and @Christopher Assal you both were awesome today made my life as sweep super easy. Apart from one crest at the end both of you managed your Patrols super nicely through the churned up sand. Tareck i believe you must have realized (re-realized) today that your vehicle has tremendous power. At certain places i felt you could have sailed through with less revs as well. Again you were really good, just that today's theme was specific so felt at certain areas that you were putting in more gas then required..All an all a great outing for both of you. In general the whole convoy did well. For rest of the drivers i am sure other Seniors can comment better as from sweep couldn't have done a fair assessment of all. thanks again.3 points

@Alain Canivet-Abikhalil @Ben84 @Anoop Nair @Marwan Haddad @Sunil Mathew @Gaurav Soni Thank you @Sunil Mathew @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil @Anoop Nair for a very descriptive drive report and the video. Very well done guys, you covered most. The only thing that i will like to add is that there is no similar stuck, each stuck is unique and is managed differently. Some recoveries need more time and hard work than others depending on situations and circumstances. Referring to the lengthy recovery we performed on Anoop's car which was stuck on super soft slip side of the dune where self recovery and shoveling did not work. And also it was not in an ideal position to give a regular tug that we normally do. Last week, i had a stuck of similar nature however within 15 minutes it was recovered just because we had the privilege of having a winch that gives you more control over the recovery and can be carried out on more challenging surfaces. In our drive, we had to do similar kind of recovery but using rope instead of winch. First, We had to find a flat surface to be able to give the required tugs which was little far so that was the reason we used 2 ropes to avoid the car giving the tug getting stuck together. Secondly, it was on an acute angle from the car giving the tug. Our objective was to correct the angle of the car firstly by giving numerous soft tugs prior giving a proper tug to get the car out. At the same time, in between each tugs we had to shovel out the sand causing resistance. As you witnessed, we had to do many cycles of soft tugs and shoveling which took almost 1 hour. I am really grateful to all of you for taking turns for shoveling and showing such a great team spirit that is vital to this sports. The recovery was very well coordinated and executed patiently and calmly by both @Gaurav Soni and @Anoop Nair. Kudos to you guys. Why a hard tug was not appropriate? (During the recovery, i over heard few of you saying that why we are not giving a hard tug and just get the car out) - Hard tug can cause damage to the tow points and can also break the tow points. If you break a tow point by giving hard tug, it will project like a bullet and it can cause further damage to the vehicle and serious injuries. Now let's say with all precaution taken there is no damage or injury, now imagine how would you recover a car without a tow point in that situation. - The car was in an acute angle, giving a hard tug would easily cause the car to flip. I am sure none of us wants their car to flip and roll. Neither anyone would like to manage a flipped car instead of a recovery that may take long. - The car was trapped in super soft sand. I am sure all of you saw it as you all helped in shoveling and saw how the sand kept falling. Giving a hard tug to a car trapped in soft sand will cause the car to jump and again cause the car to flip due to the angle or else damage to tow point. Lastly, i would like to say that each stuck and refusal we encounter is an opportunity to learn and improve ourselves in different ways. See you in the sand on another drive. Till then, take care.3 points

@Brette @Chris Wing @Rjducos @Marwan Haddad @Sunil Mathew @Zixuan Huang - Charlie @Nithin Vaidir @Arshad Roojee @darren thompson @Chinthaka Ruwan @jodha singh shekhawat Today, we started the drive from Tawi Nazwa via Pink Rock to Big Red. It was nice to see everybody ready on time to begin the trip. Early morning, required some warm up so we did some small side sloping prior hitting bigger dunes and nice bowls where we got to do criss crossings and some short ridge riding. Unfortunately, for the safety of the driver and the car, we had to exit @Zixuan Huang - Charlie due to technical issue with his car. We did perform some basic troubleshooting which did not work. After exiting Charlie safely on the tarmac, we headed back to the dunes with the rest of the convoy where we tried the play areas on the side of pink rock before climbing the bigger dunes towards big red. One of my favorite terrain that requires full focus and concentration to drive through, where even a second of distraction or hesitation can cause stuck or refusal. After driving non stop for a while, i realised that we all needed a break so that we can refresh to continue the journey better. Seeing that there was not much refusal and stuck, progressively i made the drive more challenging and still all the drivers cope very well. We only had few refusals which was managed swiftly and a stuck where @darren thompson's Truck was crested. Within minutes recoveries were done and we were always on the move. I would like to thank all of you for joining the drive and making it wonderful. I was privileged to have @Brette as my support, @Chris Wing as a flawless second lead and @jodha singh shekhawat as the sweep keeping the convoy together.2 points

I thank the full lead team for their guidance and enthusiasm to coach us- @Srikumar @Jeepie @Vanessa8580. Special thanks to @Rizwanm2 for the tug 😊 Another thing I noticed was the amazing sense of humor this convoy had specially during refusals 😂 I really look forward to learning with this community and improving my skills!! thanks @shu yang, @Max Beloenko, @Senthil Kumar for the amazing company!!2 points

Thanks @varunmehndiratta for the support today, i totally agree with you I was putting some more power as at 2500rpm it wasn't working well for the car at some points always sliding on the sides maybe because it's heavy. Thank you @Wrangeld for today's drive it was a new and different experience2 points
