Well friends it was quite fun and adventures drive we had yesterday little bit more than what i expected. First of all thank you everyone for coming on time we started soon after briefing around 5.45 The warmup session was really smooth we hardly had any refusal or stucks. There were quite a few mid to long range dunes, Everyone had plenty of opportunity to polish their skills of ridge riding and slide sloping, Then we came to very long range dunes with longest slid slope. I was able to witness good car control from everyone. But unfortunately our friend Thomas had a pop out while navigating his car with lots of churned tracks. with the help of everyone it was a quick fix. After a small break we were back on the move, The next session was the technical until we reach another set of long range dunes, It was quit a challenge for me to read these dunes, even though it appears hard the sand was super soft in lots of places. i think i had lots of refusals due to tricky sand. but rest of the convoy was doing great with minimum guidance. When we reach second set of long range dunes we were back on ridge riding one after the other, And then we had our pickle situation, it was at the end of beautiful ridge riding i ended up in bottom of a pocket wedged between 2 dunes, before i could announce second lead @Gaurav Soni was also in the pocket so immediately announce to stop 3rd car. Welldone @Gregory Powell for driving with good sense of awareness. Then we started recovery of 3 cars from the pocket @Thomas Varghese explained situation well and it was great team effort from everyone. special thanks to @Ashok chaturvedi and @Pacific @Gaurav Soni Thank you very much buddy, for all the support and guidance for the whole team including me. @Islam Soliman, amazing drive on a beautiful morning. Fast paced and action packed first half, climbing large dunes with a mix of technical terrain later on. Was worth waking up at 2:30am 😅. Prompt start shortly after 530am and immediately had chances to practice side sloping and ridge riding (lots!). We had a nice mix of really fun trails mixed up with technical sections. And there were lots of patches of really soft sand requiring good use of momentum and concentration. As mentioned by Thomas, we had some tricky recoveries which resorted to the employment of a winch after shovelling having minimum impact. The stuck cars from the leads meant we could all observe a methodical attempts of self recovery with no drama, no panic and good use of blip blip on the throttle to try and free the respective cars. The radio guidance was informative and educational. It was a great drive and ticked all the boxes for fewbie level! We even saw some local wildlife being in the conservation area! Thank you @Rizwanm2, @Ashok chaturvedi @Pacific @Gaurav Soni and @Thomas Varghese for the great support and the rest of the convoy for a great drive!

Unless one is going into an artic desert (yes, there are some), that's what everyone expects from a desert: to be hot. Coupling this with my distaste for early morning wake-ups, here come The Scorch Trials - summertime afternoon desert drives, as hot as they can be. The reward will be the a beautiful sunset, and a slowly cooling temperature, before heading out to a nice dinner with your loved ones. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 7:30 PM (with the possibility of a 30 minute extension to reach the exit) P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive. I remember we tried this ratchet method to fix a difficult pop out of an FJC tyre last year . lead was @Chaitanya D

I always carry few ratchets in different sizes with me @ASAD., Unfortunately the coconut water idea prevented @Zed to tell us how to fix the pop out 🤣

@Kailas, was great to be back on your drive. Good see to some new and also old members after a very long time 😀. Thank you all for a chilled evening drive, best way to wind down after a long day. Have uploaded some pictures in the gallery. Hopefully see you soon in the sand. Take care!

THE RECOVERY MASTERCLASS DRIVE. This was a drive where everybody witnessed a remarkable recovery of 3 cars from inside of a bowl. From words borrowed from @GauravSoni a pickle situation. When the senior members of the convoy - me, @Ashok chaturvedi & @Pacific raced to check on the safety of the lead @Rizwanm2, the 2nd lead @GauravSoni we found the 3rd car of @Gregory Powell perched high on the slip side of a dune at a height above Rizwans car. Its a miracle no cars banged into each other in the tight bowl. Rizwan had already announced on the radio for the 3rd car to hold and not follow the lead and 2nd lead, Gregory had already crossed the threshold of holding but all 3 were safe but stuck. @Ashok chaturvedi rose to the occasion and kindly offered his new prized possession the WINCH at the disposal of the convoy for the ultimate recovery. Its commendable how Ashok has mastered the controls of the winch so that all 3 cars came out of the bowl like it was a walk in the park. BRAVO Ashok. Rest of the convoy watched the very extreme recovery and I hope they have understood the basics of a master recovery in a safe way which is what the club teaches its members. The instructions from @Rizwanm2, @GauravSoni and @Pacific was precise and all 3 cars continued the drive joining the rest of the convoy. Regarding the drive - it was fantastic and Rizwan really upped the challenges as the convoy was strong. We had our share of a pop out, my rear right tire popped out after hitting soft sand and cross tracks from the rest of the convoy on a side slope 🤣. Fixed in less than 10 min. I had a weird crest also while reversing the car up a high dune. The convoy of very able drivers @Gregory Powell, @Sam K, @Jonny90, @Federico Galbieri, @TT_Dubai, @takeshi sobue @salah2u hadn't had much issues through out the drive and I really enjoyed driving with them. Deliberately didn't mention @Pacific and @Ashok chaturvedi as they are now veterans in desert driving and what can I complement on their impeccable driving and machines. Did everything as expected of them and even played role models to the rest of the convoy. Thank you @Rizwanm2 for hosting the drive. It was fun. See you all soon in another fun drive in the sands. Thanks @Kailas for a great drive! The night time let me see the dunes in a new light! The higer speed chase with bump anticipation help sharpen the sences.
