Not a problem at all. As usual @GauravSoni was with me a surprise addition at the last moment for this drive a la last drive when he along with Kailas joined after our evening drive that ended at Qudra which was during the Ramadan period and then one more surprise was @Asif Hussain. Not many drives you will see 5 members convoy supported by 5 members in manage tab but this was one of them. My love for Abu Dhabi is increasing by the day. I was quite happy with my car - somehow it behaved very well taking me to around all the bowls and up all the steep climbs without any struggle. Thank you @Frederic for your drive, I could only recognise the starting and ending of the drive from our last time aound here and rest of it was totally new. And apologies for what can be the best example of "Task Failed Successfully" after the end of the drive. @Salim Akhtar you are quite impressive with your car. I remember last time I drove with you in @Srikumar's Fewbie Plus drive in which you were the only fewbie plus drivers and rest all were Intermediate level. As usual you kept pace with the rest of more experienced convoy. @Mahmoud Taha we have been driving almost every week together for last 3-4 weeks and I can see you doing better every week. From the Oktoberfest drive to this week you have shown improvement in leaps and bounds. I have video-graphic memories of all those drives so can vouch for it. @Ashutosh Garg you drive sensibly always and good to see you after a long time in this drive. @Jessica Lambert be fearless. It is great to see you take your time taking turns and understand the terrain before you leap in to it. @Amr Aydin every time I drive with you all I hear from you is nothing. you are cool as cucumber and just do your thing with your car. @munkybizness it was great to see you again since our last drive in Ramadan & hope to see you more often. @Mahmoud Taha you were also present in that drive. @Asif Hussain it is always a pleasure driving with you. Last time it was at Yellow Truck, that I drove sleepy throughout the drive, obviously this time it was different - a lot has changed since then. Thank you for blessing with your presence, it is fun watching you doing things with your X. One moment I cherish is when @GauravSoni did a radio check because there was no chatter for a long time. My theory is that when there is radio silence - it means everyone is engrossed in the thrill of driving and they are not only driving well but also enjoying the drive at the same time. it is in the tranquil state of drive that is meditative in nature. Thank you all for your participation and see you all soon once agin in one more adventure. I will post a drive video in about a week's time hopefully sooner, in the meantime updated some pics in the gallery.

Humble request to all campers to be ready on time without any excuses, please. Please wake up an hour early to pack all your gear and be ready for the drive.

Drive report : Some issue with google maps took some members elsewhere - about 20-30 km away, and i had to send them my location on whatsapp but glad they could make it on time. Will try to include some pointers on next drives so that we don't become entirely dependent on google maps and have a visual perception as to where the meeting point is. All prepped and briefing done, a loooooong convoy meant @Waqas Parvez probably run out his first battery on his radio calling out the members positions and radio checks. Thank you for your help all along the drive buddy. Making way for a long convoy, I myself ended up in some situations in soft pockets where it it was great to see everyone come in as a wonderful team to sort out the issues. @Andrei S played 2nd lead role to perfection correcting lines and stopping in time when I ended up in some soft patches/pockets. Well done. @Georges Kazan drove his FJ well , managing some tight spots and soft patches with few refusals. I hope by next time around you would be better prepped and ready to get better for that fact you have a fantastic car. I was wondering what could be the reason for your compressor to stop working after inflating 3.5 tires , may be you need to give a break in between so that it doesnt overheat as the onboard compressor on a FJ is tiny and slow. Another option is to have a faster compressor with higher flow rates .Never the less, you can drive safely even with underinflated tires >15 psi (not fully flat) upto 80 kmph. Just remember not to turn aggressively @luwaimn good to see you finally after a long hiatus, you did well most of the drive except for some soft patches where in you needed some more momentum. @Goh KP again coming after a long hiatus, did well with his SWB pajero. Well done @topgear was wonderful as usual, great energy and enthusiasm . Wonderful to see your family and especially the Jr after a long time. @Vaibhav was very helpful as the first Center Forward. Jumping into situations quickly to assist. Long convoy meant you had to relay messages to the back @Gary F riding a long wheel base gladiator meant it would be tricky in some tight spots we ventured, ending in a crest situation which was tugged by Vaibhav well. @Usman Basit another trukker, riding a LWB GMC did well . IN fact all the LWB trucks along with more experienced @Harshal riding a Tundra and @Karthik Raptor did well. Karthick was great supporting as second center forward in the back advising as and when needed. The more experienced bunch riding at the rear end including @Krishna R, @Adnan Halepota, @Yerem Davtyan, @Imteeaz and @Senthil Kumar hardly had any issues . well done Sweeping all together - infact a long bunch was no less task for @Waqas Parvez. Thank you for your help. It was a long convoy , we managed to clock 45+km with good pace, picking up speed towards the end which I hope every one enjoyed. I would advise again for members who wish to join night drives to come prepped with some extra lights for better visibility when you step out, wear full trousers and covering shoes. Getting on sand every time makes you learn some thing new in terms of recovering and in terms of making new friends and knowing each other in a better way. If you were not stuck or having any issues this time around, next time come prepped as it might be your turn 🙂. Drive Info With the cool winter breeze finally starting to set in, its time to hit the big playgrounds that UAE has to offer. And, there is none bigger than the monstrous dunes of Al Quaa. This area has every kind of dune structure possible, pyramid dunes, starfish dune, steep slip faces, and bowls the size of a football stadium. BOWLS STARFISH DUNES STEEP SLIP FACES This will be the ultimate test of driver and machine. You will be redlining the engine, and your car will still crave for more. And if you felt the the above was not enough, here is the best part - we will be joined by @Frederic and @Gaurav So drivers, Start your engines!!! Important Points for all drive participants This drive is for Intermediates who have already completed min. 2 IM drives with Carnity. Keep your car as light as possible. This is not a drive to have passengers. There is no need to carry extra fuel Ensure that you are with a tank full to the brim at the meeting point The plan is to end the drive when we run out of fuel (so please dont keep any kind of other appointments for that day). Take the E95 route only, as that has the closest gas station. All other routes dont have any gas station close to the meeting point. Ensure that your car is in the best possible condition. Finally, if you run out of fuel in the middle of the drive, it would be sold by the other team members at AED 100 per litre🤣. So ensure that you conserve fuel by turning the engine off at every break. Bring some quick wrapped sandwiches or lunch to eat along the way. Thanks Gaurav for highlighting this point. We are already having a late start at 8 AM, so incase there is a delay in reaching the meeting point, we will not be waiting. Time on this drive is of the essence if we are to complete the planned route.

Dear Desertnauts, let's get ready for tomorrow's installment of the Deep Purple Series. As announced, differently from the previous two runs, this one will see greater difficulties in terms of terrain, presenting a greater variety of challenges: from bushier areas (we did encounter a few especially in Qudra), to technical areas (never ran into any significant ones in the previous drives). Consequently, the goal will not be to break the 38 Km/h speed of the previous drive, but to stay above 30 Km/h - everything we'll achieve over this target will be a bonus. The convoy, of medium size compared to the previous two drives, will line up as follows: @Fabien Monleau in Second Lead @Ashutosh Garg at #3 @Senthil Kumar at the Center @Jessica Lambert at #5 @Tareq Al Turq in #6, and @Pacific in Sweep. The meeting place, hoping that Google doesn't scramble our maps, will be facing the mosque, just to the right after exiting at Murqab. The radio channel will be confirmed at the meeting place. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

I am sure no one going to mistake Al Quaa for Al Qudra not for a drive that is sooo much anticipated. But you never know!!

Just for all newbies, please note below for Pajero's Essentials for newbie level: Removal of bumper air dam/body kit and rear bumper protection to stop sand scooping. Extra transmission fan Good to have at Fewbie: Bash plate and skid plate AT tires Once you do 20-40 drives and identify the real bottleneck then only decide for suspension, if it's really needed or not for your level of off-roading. Which means if you find yourself liking higher level, pace and action drives, then firm suspension adds good value but with big trade-off by killing the road comfort (no matter how any vendor advertises it).

Hi @Frederic Yes, I am getting the agency to install the original front and rear bumpers as this was a touch too low when driving the other day. its a shame i like the look but prefer to replace than have to carry them home on the roof racks after getting torn off!

Welcome @LKP ! Thats a nice Signature Edition Pajero you have there ! Just a small warning: that rear bumper will come off very soon, as with the signature edition they have made the original design even lower and added the double exhaust tips. I would recommend removing it and putting a skid plate underneath to protect the rear bumper. See you soon in the sand !

DRIVE REPORT As you might know by now, i like exploring new areas, and although i had done the first part of this drive already twice, the other parts were unknown terrain and it felt great to get a super capable convoy through it unscathed. @Jessica Lambert, now equipped with the best AT tyres, cool rims, and a great co-pilot, was superb and pop-out free this time Great driving Jessica ! keep it up ! @Salim Akhtar as usually surprising everyone with his skills and how he masters the Pajero, just like @GauravSoni you are one of the ambassadors of how capable a Pajero is in the right hands ! @Mahmoud Taha and @Ashutosh Garg were our silver bullets today, and the RC car Mahmout brought was doing all the things we are not allowed to do with real cars 🤣 @Amr Aydin you are the iceman of each and every convoy. Warmhearted but super skillful and never a foot wrong in that beautiful Jeep. @munkybizness the smooth approaches you take with the Patrol are a bliss to look at. Great to see a fellow camper, with @Looperand @GauravSoni also camping the night before. Next time i'd love to join you guys. Last but not least: @Asif Hussain who had a last-minute opening in the fence and joined us on our adventure. Great seeing you again and each drive becomes memorable with you in it ! The plan for next time is to reach Fayah. If not, then we will exit earlier and plan it for another time 😁 As is mentioned, drive stats mean little to me, the camaraderie, atmosphere, and laughs mean so much more. @Dr Tanveer Ahmed I've got a 2020 LX570 I have only done a few things to my LX. I installed a skid plate, changed wheels and tires, did a 2-inch body lift, and extended the original hydraulic suspension due to the body lift to improve the attack and departure angles. I effectively made my LX570 into an Xtreme LX570 similar to the Land Cruiser Xtreme that was on the market a few years ago and done by the same guys. I haven't done anything with the Traction Control/VSC as turn them all off by holding down the TRAC button for a few seconds, which turns everything off. I also disable the side airbags via the RSCA OFF button Depending on what tire/wheel combination you have. I had to figure out that I needed to run on higher tire pressures, as I was experiencing quite a few popouts. I think this was due to the LX being a heavy car and my driving. I currently run on 15psi my KO2 315/70/R17 tires. I will carry on slowly carrying out some other mods when I see the need or need to repair at the moment I can see that I will be taking out the hydraulic suspension and changing the front bumper Let me know if you have any questions on what I have done
