It was a really nice morning drive @Islam Solimanand i am sure , everyone who joined us got an opportunity to learn a thing or two about handling their cars, shoveling, self recovery, rope recovery etc., we had it all today. We had a really long convoy of 16 cars comprising of @frederic demolder as S/L beautifully handling his BAIC BJ40 , joined by his Dad. Good to hear that he enjoyed the day, and hope to see him (and you offcourse) for our next one @TheUsualSuspect aka Renier, drove without any issue whatsoever, and apologies to have missed you out in our convoy line up roll call .. i need to work on my skills to "read between lines (or names)" @Mahmut SARILI had some heating issues with his "Red Kettle" as Renier put it . Hope you had a good look at it and it gets sorted soon. An extra fan would be something to consider. I also noticed that the car struggles even on comparatively easy climbs with a lot of wheel spin. Probably try 12psi next time, as you have big and wider tyres. That car should be able to do everything what we did on Saturday, like cakewalk 🙂. A little bit of polishing on your straight crossings , is needed to prevent "air time" like you had yesterday. Good that you are safe, and the car had no damage. @Amal Sunil - a fellow fortuner rider 👍, i believe you had some opportunities to understand your car. Good that you have a skid plate. A little trim on your front bumper , a kill switch and cutting off your rear mud flaps will help you a lot on higher level drives. TGet a compressor too before your next drive, as most of our drives dont end close to petrol stations. Hope you will sort out the tyre valve issue soon. @Zeeshan Patel joining us with his F150 for the first time , must have noticed the change from the previous Y62 . Getting your car crested is very easy, and you gave us the opportunity to give a demo of a rope recovery to the whole gang 🙂. Sure, you have taken home some amount of learning , to be implemented in the next drive. Lets tame that V8 !!! you can also probably try 12 psi on your tyres (being BFG all terrain) next drive. @Robk - as always flawless drive. Your offroad experience with your friends shows in the way you drive, and good to know that you enjoy taking it step by step with @Carnity. Sometimes you need a break from all those fast and furious drives up the Iftar/Super bowl, take a step back and just amble along . @Mahesh_ - hope you had a great time and a flawless drive. One pointer for you would be to try and manage the gap between you and the car in front. At times, the convoy gets too elongated and you might miss the track. Am sure , once you are accustomed to driving behind different drivers/cars, you will calibrate your style too. @Jeevan Koshy and @Shiju Raju - our FJ comrades of the day, had some great opportunities to put the capabilities of FJs into action, especially the ATRAC function. It looks like ATRAC is only active on 4LO, which was a new reveal for me while trying to help Jeevan. Anyhow its a very handy feature and it can get you out of most sticky situations, once you master it. @Rafey Hashmi - all of us will agree that yesterdays spotlight was on this little Jimny 😉and its driver Rafey, getting himself stuck/un-recoverable in a seemingly unassuming soft sand patch (am not sure if it qualifies as a bowl !!! 🙃) . We tried various rope recovery angles, but ultimately deflation to 8psi did the trick and Rafey was able to drive himself out without any rope assistance. I hope you had a very crucial moment of revelation/enlightenment w.r.t the effect of deflation on tyre traction 👍😉 @Dan S - the other trucker with us also managed to get himself crested and surely went through some learning moments to handle his behemoth of a car. Thanks for readily agreeing to help us with recovering @Rafey Hashmi the moment we asked you , although we did not need it at the end. Appreciate your spirit and selfless attitude!! Special thanks to @Ben Williams sweeping the convoy to safety and giving excellent guidance to the tail enders. I thought I would jazz the drive up with a bit with an almost ripped out exaust had it not been for the eagle eye of Ben!! The drive itself was beautiful really good spot Sri thank you! Great to cruise around and watch the skill on display you all drove wonderfully! Amazing amazing scenery 10/10 and really amazing driving around on the semi wet sand! Back to the exaust - thanks all for the help getting it in drivable condition especially Sri & Davie and whomever provided the ropes and the kind offer from Luke to follow me to the garage ( I just arrived I did 50 all the way didn't want to put the car under pressure if there was an unidentified kink in the pipe) Anyway have a great Sunday all and lovely to meet new faces ! The FJ will live to see another battle next week 💪(and a few AED lighter😂) Maybe I use this opportunity to upgrade the full exhaust system to a borla just don't tell my wife 😬😬😬😬😬 Ps as a part time fisherbloke Davie I was super impressed with your knots!! @Srikumar, Sweihan and Newbie ? What an explosive cocktail… Short night, very short night to reach Sweihan at 0630 sharp… A beautiful sunrise, cool temperature, a long convoy to sweep… Large dunes, hard sand, beautiful lines smoothly lead by @Srikumar … The convoy is sailing on the sand, from dune to dune… A few refusals quickly managed by @Benjamin and the convoy hits the road again as a train we cannot stop… And suddenly, the first issue raised. @Imran Asghardecided to use his exhaust as a cup holder and @PETELCZYC PAJERO - lukethought it was time to get new rims. @Davie Chasebecame MacGyver, jumping from an emergency repair to another emergency one. His good results, permitted us to exit at 11 am. Finally, I had a very pleasant and lazy drive as sweep. I enjoyed the beautiful sceneries offered by Sweihan dunes. I hope to drive with you again. I wish you a nice week 😉

A pretty exciting drive with lots of action throughout the day. When we started this morning, it seemed that the desert was a tarmac where we could have driven without deflation and on 2H. But as the sun started coming up and the upper layer started to dry, the challenges began in the form of refusals. The maximum learning happens when you have Refusals and Stucks, as there is where you develop the finer skills of driving on the sand. All the Newbies did exceptionally well driving, keeping the right amount of distance and maintaining the momentum. Today's drive was definitely above a typical Newbie level drive, and you all should be proud of how you tackled the dunes today. @Imran Asghar and @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke were the real show stoppers of the day 😂. But look at the bright side your car will now be even more ready for the DCT. I am sure @Davie Chase would be glad that the broken rim happened on a Newbie drive rather than when they are making a challenge for the Champions Trophy. Big thank you to @Davie Chase , @Benjamin @Fabien Monleau for joining and supporting the drive. Special mention to @Felix Obst who handled the Second Lead position superbly well. It was a pleasure driving with all of you on a beautiful Sunday morning in Sweihan. Till we meet again on sands, take care.

The red kettle

Dear Desert Drivers Thank you for joining the drive early today. It was a great morning out in the sand. Ok let me skip immediately the last hour where you helped me changing my wheel after a tire burst on the track. We went through the different ways of lifting a car, and at the end the lesson learned is here. I cannot change a wheel on a flat hard surface (gatch track or road), I need sand to be able to dig below the wheel. Thank you for your support and patience. For the rest, excellent drive from all of you. As expected the area was empty, and with a small convoy, we where really able to enjoy these fluid roller coaster through the immaculate dunes, and a few of these big climbs that allow to push our cars and raise the adrenaline level. Managing the soft sand was the second learning of the day, as we had many occasions to see that the difficulties are not always obvious, when cars where stuck in an apparently inoffensive flat surface, or sliding in a nasty pocket or blocked at a weird angle. @Emanuel, thank you for the 2nd lead. You have this understanding of the track that allows you to anticipate when I might get suck and hold or adjust the track as needed. @DanielN, you are taking the best out of the FJ, in the technical areas and the climbs. Be attentive on your control at higher speed, either in descent or on a ridge. @Abhilash Kottakkal, with more practice, you will continue to discover the capabilities of your car. Try to relax, avoid sharp turns or accelerations, and be attentive to the grip and traction of your car, you will get more fluidity, ... and enjoyment! @Gautam Banka thank you for sweeping the convoy today. It is a responsibility, and you endorsed it very seriously, thanks again. Similarly, be attentive to the grip and momentum of your car, adjust the tire pressure, and you will raise safely your confidence level. Personally I enjoyed the drive a lot. this area is never disappointing. Thanks again for joining and see you soon hopefully

@Frederic thank you very much for organizing this event and it was wonderful..my son had the first night out camping in the desert and he likes it too much....all good but I would like to highlight one thing...not being a spoil sport here...but appreciate the guys who join have a basic understanding of keeping the music down atleast after the midnight.. my son and wife had difficulty sleeping..it went on like till 1:45... I could hear @Looper asking them to keep it down but I guess every one is in the top of their excitement level....it was fun and I appreciate the event...it's so good to have this kinds of event often...but silent after 12 please.....

Was a good format, the ambience in the desert is awesome. In the afterpatry we had some good insights into Doors with @Gok Krish and his surround speakers, thanks for this.

Thank you all for joining ! The weather was pleasant and the company and food even more so ! Please do let me know which things can be improved. This was the first time we organized something like this and I’d love to repeat it this coming winter a couple more times. From my personal opinion we should perhaps try to find a more central location inbetween Abu Dhabi and Dubai / Sharjah as we have people joining in from several Emirates and it would be good if we could find a location that’s suitable for all. Perhaps also next time we can meetup a bit earlier before dark so it’s easier to set up camp 🏕️ while still having some day light. Stay tuned for more to come ! @LooperThank you so much for safely taking out the campers this morning.
